My parents were in El Salvador during the time of the CIA destroying it. My mother said Castro would give these hours longs talks where he'd lay out his plans and if the people liked it they would cheer and if they didn't they would scream what they wanted and he'd say, "I disagree but if that is what the people want we will do that." THAT IS LEADERSHIP OF AND BY THE PEOPLE not driven by financial BS!

My uncle on my mothers side was part of the Army's attempt to take the island back. He said they hit the beach and as far as he could see left to right was nothing but farmers(men and women) wielding AK-47's. He said he knew there was no way they were taking the island. So you think what? That a bunch of people just trying to live life wanted to live under MAfia trash like we do in the states? You don't really know much of the real power structures here do you? It's okay, Im pretty new to the lifting of the Veil here in the states and the "civilized" world. CUba was basically vegas and run by pigs. A few people got together and said , "There's a better way." Funny how ,there, cars from the 50's still run but here we are sold this idea that we have to get a new car all the time. MAybe we got it backwards. I dunno...I'd take and AK right now to set this country back to being free, If you call this attack by big pharma and friends, "Freedom" ask your self, "WHy hasn't our government done something about PFizer and all these assholes?" Cuba sent soldiers and equipment to help fight the racist South African army in Angola, especially in the periods 1974/5 and 1988/9. The strategic victory against the racist SADF (South African Defence Force) in southern Angola in 1989 led to the withdrawal of the SADF from Angola, the independence of Namibia (former South West Africa) and was a major contributor to the fall of South African Apartheid.
MK (Umkhonto we Sizwe/Spear of the nation, the armed wing of the ANC) worked and fought beside the Angolan army, Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces and SWAPO (South West African Peoples Organisation) fighters against the US/CIA/South African supported UNITA and the SADF.
When released from gaol (where he was for so long because he would not renounce the armed struggle), one of the first places Mandela went to was Cuba, to thank the Cuban people for their help and sacrifices against Apartheid. Chandru K, Really my friend? You really don't know the true face of Fidel Castro or what is the same, the true face of the socialist-communist-leftist governments (the name doesn't matter anymore).
Those of us who are the fruit of these societies know them VERY WELL; look, first of all, NO data that comes out of those governments is real; they falsify EVERYTHING, and always, in their favor (the government).
Second, they use EVERYTHING, everything for propaganda, from the most important things like books, universities, through magazines, newspapers, radio stations, televisions, to culture itself: songs, movies, theater, painting... policy in your favor.
Third, just as they exaggerate their data and falsify it, they also do it with those who criticize them or mean the opposite to them; that is, they "shoot" their morals, discredit them, brand them with the most deplorable adjectives and explanations that exist.
Fourth, they have filled the world with intelligence agents, who have flooded the upper echelons, the networks, etc.
Fifth, they always falsify the data of the past; because, they are shown as the saviors of a black past.
All of this together is what has made so many people...and even...organizations and nations, believe in the horrible lies and communist indoctrination.
So, the net communists, those who take to the streets and appear in meetings where they are questioned, are manipulators, violent, rude and hypocritical; while those who speak to large crowds, manipulate them with beautiful ideas: freedom, solidarity, loyalty, equality, blah, blah, blah. They are just lies to gain followers and seize power and riches!!!!! !

He's one of the smartest people i know (and believe im not saying that cuz he's my uncle) many other people have told me the same about him. He's also like a ruthless pitbull but he hasn't had it easy. He was a Peter Pan. Doesn't talk about that period of his life either. Extremely well respected and is probably 1 of 3 to 5 original employees at radio marti. Not what one would expect i guess. Anti embargo too, stuff like that. (Also because of its in effectiveness) Idk just conflicting views on policies maybe. About to retire in a few months. Thinks tax dollars can be better spent. U know, he's on the inside, and sees the BS. Idk. He knows and has spoken to many of the higher ups here and there. Things get complicated i suppose.

@Ludd Zarko which was supposed to go down in Bay of Pigs was it not? What happened. That event changed the future and trust of many Cubans, here and there. And then the missile crisis smh. Things can be said about Castro but there's a level of intelligence, foresight and effectiveness at how he ran his campaign/regime that has embarrassed or that has always been a splinter in Americas ass that that is literally the sole purpose on the way it treats Cuba. And thats the truth. Its all a way to bully Cuba nowadays because any invasion or something like that, globally wouldn't be good on various levels as u could imagine.
But the genius SOB Castro, is gone. But i hear he wrote a ledger predicting future situation. Lol now idk if thats true but i can honestly see that happening lol. Mfer... I can go on and on about it but it's a unique history of relations between the U.S. and Cuba and it has yet to allow any progress.. I feel for my family still there and others, because they are the ones who suffer. Not the government or the elite. And as long as things stay the same, that, will be the situation.

@@vincentvega6932 I do think tho ( and many others agree with me ) that the ideals of the general Cuban population have changed a lot since 1962. When the Invasion was launched, people was really into socialism. Things were good at the beginning. Just like in most socialist-turned capitalist countries, the wealth of the old system is given away so basically people is happy. Once time passes by... there ain’t no wealth to be distributed since the system is dysfunctional... and people start becoming uneasy. The 1990s were the definite seal to general unrest. Crap hit the fan you could say. And now it’s beginning to look like that again. You can’t really find a Cuban nowadays who aint pissed with the government. I agree with your uncle as well, propaganda is just talking and talking, and sometimes the blah blah blah becomes kinda ridiculous. I say we should start a guerrilla and am a big advocate for that.

Detroit Bron, I show you something. The true face of Fidel Castro or what is the same, the true face of the socialist-communist-leftist governments (the name doesn't matter anymore).
Cuba was destroyed and its people enslaved by Fidel Castro through hunger, need, misery and repression!!!!!!
The Cuban people have been suffering for 63 years at the hands of Fidel's government.

When your mom vacationed over there (the 1950s) Cuba was still capitalist. It wasn't the ruined country it is today. The country started deteriorating after the communist took over in 1959. You mention the embargo... The embargo sanctions any US company or subsidiary that trades with Cuba. That is, Cuba can still trade with any other company around the world. Additionally, the embargo doesn't include food not medicine for humanitarian reasons, so Cuba can still buy food and medicine from the US directly, and as a matter of fact, it does. Almost all the chicken sold in Cuba is exported from the US.
The communists always use the embargo as an excuse for the system's inefficiency.
      _____________________________________________
The literacy rate is high, meaning the majority of the population finish the 12th grade. But this doesn't mean the schooling system is good. Many are the schools that are falling apart. Literally. Teachers... boy... where to start. You cant imagine the number of incompetent 20-year-olds that end up choosing teaching as their last option for a career in Cuba. That's your average teacher. People say teachers suck in the US because they are paid too little? Yeah... imagine how it is in Cuba where they are paid even less... Makes sense right? Always keep in mind, statistics are quantitative info, not qualitative.
      _____________________________________________
The health system... aghh... where to start... My father was a physician in Cuba. My sister is a doctor exercising in Cuba. I tell you this just so you know I have first-hand info and I'm not making any of this up.
Cuba has public health care, which means people pay it through their taxes. When you live in a prosperous country, people have money, therefore they can pay more taxes, and subsequently, public services have more funds. When you have a broke country with an inefficient economic system like Cuba, public services suck. By suck I mean, hospitals with no running water, unsanitary conditions... I mean, just take a look: czcams.com/video/dNhgym2bMtA/video.html.
That was capital resources, now let's talk about human resources, that's is doctors. Cuba is in the top 5 countries with more doctors per capita. Cuba really encourages students to be doctors. Why? Because Cuban doctors are like state-owned money-making machines. You might have heard of Cuba sending humanitarian help abroad during this pandemic. Most of this humanitarian help comes in the form of doctors. Cuba gets paid for this, of course. Cuba has made more than 10 billion dollars this way. Why do you think the majority of Cuban doctors are willing to leave their families and go to the Amazon Rain Forest, per see, to attend natives? Out of the kindness of their hearts? There are people who really do it for the sheer feeling of humanitarianism, but their number pales in comparison to the rest. The overwhelming majority of Cuban doctors who choose this difficult and arduous option, do it for economical reasons. But don't blame or call them greedy for that. Do you know how much a Cuban doctor is paid in Cuba? Take a guess... 45 USD on average. 45 USD in a country full of inflation. Sht... a taxi driver in Cuba can make more than that (a video on that subject: czcams.com/video/RmFiXhvHIxA/video.html). You see? Signing on for these "humanitarian" missions ain't really an act of greed, they do it not to become rich, but to earn something closer to a decent wage. Notice a said "closer", not a decent wage. You see... the Cuban govt can take from 70% to 90% of what a doctor is paid for in the country they attend.
It was one of these missions that my father realize what a big lie he had been living and then decided to leave the country.
Given this economical "incentive", most of the good doctors in Cuba are actually not attending Cubans. That's why you find the hospitals full of novices.

Communism-socialism-leftism is the WORST for the peoples!!!!!!!!
BUT, communism is best for the ruling elite; well, they TOTALLY control the people; whose freedoms are TAKEN AWAY.
In Cuba, Fidel Castro literally CREATED hunger; lack of bread, vegetables, eggs, meat, milk, cheese, sugar, salt, etc, etc.
It created needs for EVERYTHING: water, soap, dishes, sheets, roofs, shoes, clothes, towels, transportation (including bicycles), current, salt, sugar, etc, etc.
He equalized EVERYONE in misery: doctors, engineers, taxi drivers, architects, cooks, gardeners, lawyers, etc, etc.
And in addition, he imposed a fierce repression against whoever raises his voice to tell the truth.

He was another brutal dictator and upgraded version of Batista. Children are forcefully taken out of their homes and sent to military camps, they would line up all the kids and pick one kid or few out of the group, then they would cut off an ear or limb(s) of that child in front of other kids to instill fear in them and teach them to not go against the government and they are also trained to be ears(spies/informants) of what goes in their homes and neighborhood and report it to the government. If you protest against the government, you will be taken imprisoned and depending on how severe or the government sees you as a threat, they would also kill you and make you disappear too. Hospitals are in worse conditions and they let patients suffer and die in horrible conditions. Their pay are less than a dollar, no matter how good a doctor may be. The government decides your wage. For many doctors they would rather be overseas cause they would get paid better and live better. I could go on. But yeah keep praising Castro who done nothing for the people but make them miserable.
