There is a house from Rhydlite was moved to Goldfield 2areas there then was moved to Beatty and now sit by the church it is now owned by a volunteer that works at the museum in town it was for sale many years ago and she bought it on the spot loves the house and all the history she had a great story of her house .🏆🤔thank you for this video that I tagged along with was there 2019 and 2000

As a civil engineering graduate, I took particular interest in the development challenges of the town: the water supply, the import of supplies and mail, the necessity of a town jail, the building of structurally sound school house, and the innovative use of materials (tents, wood, concrete, bottles) for homes. Truly fascinating from a civil engineering standpoint. Well done and well researched.

The building there with glass could have something to do with telephone cell service. Those type of buildings are built outside of Denver on the hillsides and they hold cell phone equipment. I’m Not sure if that’s it but it could be I suppose. Lol
Hard to believe that two railroads, nevermind one, once operated through this region of the country. Have seen period postcards of the Cook bank's interior: it was as you described, a very beautifully finished building.
What I have found that during the Depression more Gold was mined Often than Strike. Closeology was Taught by WPA or Gov. Funded prospecting education. Seen these Trash dumps around old placer ground.
One would think after hundreds of booms and busts throughout the west that people at that time would take heed and not get so carried away with expensive construction projects. But no..

Thanksgiving 2021 I passed through Rhyolite listening for whispers of the past and found then!

We were there last year. Amazing how even stone buildings could not hold up. Almost like an earthquake hit

How far from Las Vegas is this area of Rhyolite?
It is a little over 100mi. from LV and is only a few miles west of Beatty
