- Hello Shiny Crafty People and welcome back to the channel!
In this video I visit The Quilter’s Block quilt shop in Lake Mills, Wisconsin! It’s owned by Cory Kreuger, who’s an awesome quilter and subscriber of this channel.
When Cory reached out to say hi by email, I mentioned I’d be in Wisconsin for a special trip and he invited me to the quaint town of Lake Mills to see his wonderful quilt shop!
In this video, we find out how he became a quilter and take a tour of the wonderful things he offers in his shop.
Visit Cory’s shop online at www.thequiltersblock.com/ or in person at:

Sew much fun! Thank you again to Timothy for the amazing opportunity to be a part of your channel and sharing both my shop and love of quilting with your viewers!
I’m so happy you guys are part of the quilting world😊
I have my quilt that my Great grandmother made me in 1965, it's still very usable. So many fabrics from kids clothes were used. I treasure it and hope my daughter will cherish it as much as I do. Thank you Tim I can't wait to get to Lake Mills. Less than an hour from me. Stay crafty!!!
You two have a great dynamic, great conversation. I label every quilt, who for, date, who quilted, my city and state. Just finished a quilt, my step-cousin made a large elk panel, 40x42, then was killed in traffic accident, I finished the quilt for her daughter. I honored her on the label.
Thank you!
Years ago, I subscribed to The Quilting Marine. He's come so far in his journey, and has a couple patterns that Missouri Star has printed. Mark has now gotten together with another veteran, Rob Appell, and the guys at Sew Yeah quilting. They are having quilt retreats in many places, this month is a cruise. I gave him his mantra when he sews his crumb blocks. He's making order out of chaos. I too have PTSD and knew exactly what he was doing. When the chaos begins in your mind, this is his way to cope. All of these guys are fun alone, but together, they are getting more men involved. There's plenty of room for guys. ❤😊 Quilting is expression and imagination. It's fun to see how guys approach an idea. They will figure it out on their own. I do the same thing. I've never bought a pattern, just watch a few videos. With precuts, there's only a few measurements. 😊❤
I love the quilt pattern wall hangings in your shop! I especially enjoy the block you've chosen for your logo. It's beautiful!
I enjoyed this visit ! It was a meeting of kindred spirits!
Yes!
Less than an hour from my summer vacation home. I just arrived back in Wisconsin yesterday. I'll have to go there!
Glad to see you! Got to get to your store!
Great video and great store. Corey was a natural!
I totally agree! Thanks for watching.
What a fun video!❤. “Need for speed Tim” you really should try hand stitching. It can be very meditative and peaceful. No rush just love sewn into fabric! Of course this comes from someone who loves embroidery, counted cross stitch and knitting…. It’s something about the process.
I’m sure it’s therapeutic. Perhaps when I retire… lol
lolol LOVE that!!! Power tool for fabric!
You young gentlemen look so much alike you could be brothers or cousins. Loved watching you guys.
I just saw there was a bear sighting in Lake Mills. Not the snuggly kind. 😂
I’ll have to check out the lake Mills store. My sister and I were at the other store when it first opened. What a nice person he is. So happy to see this video!
I’m glad to hear it! Tell Cory I said hey!!
Love the red and white quilt blocks on the wall, reminds me i want to make a barn quilt.
I also have a nice collection of sewing machines from old to new love my machines!
Power tool for fabrics… love it! 💕
Such a fun video Timothy!! Can’t wait for kite pattern!! Thank for all that you do! Your channel just makes my day!☮️
So thank you for the kind words! I’ll definitely be doing that kite pattern sooner than later.
The kite looks like fun project. Great interview. Thanks for sharing. ❤
I’m gonna be doing that project in just a few weeks.
I'm less than an hour away so I'll definitely have to come visit the next time I'm in that area. Love Lake Mills
My grandmother altered clothes when I was young. I have a quilt that she made, just of 4 inch squares of the altered clothing fabric. I love using this quilt, it is like a big hug!
I love that! I’m glad you have that physical memory you can hold.
Thank you for sharing. I love Corey's t-shirt.
Me too!!
Aw, what fun!!!!!
Waiting for the kite pattern!
I’ve got videos planned out through August but I may have to move some things around!
Luv your store so beautiful !!!!
I saw men working on their treadle sewing machines in the main road of a town in central India 50 years ago when I was a tourist.
I haven’t touched a treadle machine in years. I bet it would be a good workout!
Wisconsin??? Saw this on your title and couldn't believe it. Really enjoyed listening to both of you. Next time we're driving thru the state, we'll stop there.
I wish I live in the States. Here in Switzerland we don’t have so many quilt stores and the fabrics are very costly
What a great store! I’ll have to go see him!
You’ll have a good time. It’s a small store, but a lot more in it than you might expect! Tell Cory I said hi!
Thanks for all the great information❤
I love Missouri star and i have some of their rulers Jenny is so awesome! Really want to go there someday! Meeting her would be sweet and getting some stuff right from the store!
Many quilt groups organize bus trips to MSQC - just Google it.
Where are you located?
I try to pull everyone into quilting! Let's keep this art going and going and going!!
Some of the best quilters are busy all winter at their machine. I am a fourth generation Floridian, and I have lived the last 24 years in Michigan! Never quilted until I lived in Michigan.
Fun discussion!
This chat was so much fun! It was as if you two were in my living room and I was sitting next to you totally enjoying watching you two deep in conversation. Cheers! Congrats on your store on the "Triangle".
It was a lot of fun. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I really loved it. I’ll have to do more!
How exciting to meet the owner. Will definitely stop by in our travels soon!
I didn’t get to show all his own quilts. Cory is super talented!
I love quilting and it is just like making a Art Piece but with fabric. I really enjoyed teaching sewing classes and quilting. I love going to quilt shops when I go to our lake house in Davis ILL. I will have to check this shop out. Thank you for sharing. I have a USB that I keep Pictures and in a binder that I have of All My quilts I have made and sold. I Sew my Tag to all my quilting items. I even love talking and visiting Quilt shops. I have become friends with the owner of the Quilt Shop in Pecatonica,, ILL.
That was well done! Thanks for sharing
In the store yesterday. Cory is the best!
Oh, my heavens, you two need to do an "episode" together again -- preferably on a routine basis! Loved it, so enjoyable and entertaining! How about one on quilt labels like you mentioned?
He suggested that next time in Wisconsin he’ll try to teach me hand sewing or English paper piecing. Lol
What a great quilt shop! Loved seeing it. Also love that kite wall hanging -- would love to see a video on the best way to make one of those. 💖🌵
Coming soon!
I loved fhis!!
I in joyed this
Going to MSQC IN JUNE!
I love both of you !!!! Lort you guys would work so well together I would love to see yall make a quilt together !!
Can you imagine! Cory is so calm and peaceful and I’m all over the place. It would be funny, to say the least.
@timothytotten9409 I'm tell you I'm the hectic one and my man the calm collective I 100% believe it would be awesome creation if you guys ever teamed up and put a project together
I spent the first 20+ years of my life in Wisconsin. It’s great to see a “newer” quilt shop growing in my home-state.
Cory is a great guy and a wonderful quilter! I am amazed he only started a few years ago.
Oh my, talking about getting hurt with a sewing machine! I've run over my left pinky finger twice!!! Thank goodness, the second time I just jammed the machine. The first time, I had to dismantle the machine to get to the needle to get my finger out of the machine...and cut the bobbin thread!! Ewww ick, right! I kept my cool, but my father had a fit. He kept telling me to calm down and breath. I was just sitting in the passenger seat, no tears, nothing. My father, on the other hand, needed a valium, as well as the nurses at the doctor's office. So, the doctor and I were on our own. He pulled it out, x-rayed my pinky to make sure I didn't break it. Why? There's nothing you can do for a broken finger. But, he gave me a tetanus booster, again. I put a brace on my finger. I still don't know how I ran that finger over. It's never near the plate of my machine, I was only making clothes! 😂
Oh my goodness! I can’t even read this without feeling your pain!!!
@@timothytotten9409 It wasn't that bad. It was painful when he took a pair of pliers to grip the needle. I kept thinking I could have done this myself! Then the doctor offered the needle back to me! I explained it was probably a bit dull now. Yuck! He wiped it off and asked a second time. Oh my😳😂
I loved how he cut the fabric with a ruler and rotary cutter. I despise the ends cut horribly wonky.
Your grandmother is an original persons
I would love to watch an in-depth video on starting a quilt shop. I think there are quilting entrepreneurs out there who have extensive sewing, quilting, and fabric knowledge and would love to open their own business, but have no idea where to start. Would you be able to put together a video wherein quilt store owners are willing to share step-by-step processes for starting their own brick and mortar store?
It’s an interesting idea. I don’t think it’s right for me - and I’m not an expert on that by any means - but perhaps someone who runs a quilt shop will do it one day!
Project Linus sews quilts for children in hospitals in many places - I am in Aussie & I know chapters are in USA - where else? Lots of many hours gifted to help sick kids
What a great organization!
That sewing machine on the table was that the m7 or 8 i just got the m7 and I have a lot to learn on it but I have done a couple videos on CZcams my channel but the learning is going to be endless it seems but I’m looking forward to the experience!
You mentioned a pattern for a sewing machine. I love love sewing themed fabrics & patterns. Here is my sewing machine based on Kelly Fannin's Stitch Happens ❤ don't see a way to upload a photo? Will it allow me to do that here?
Unfortunately you can’t post a pic on a CZcams comment. But you can go to our Facebook group and share it there!
His shop must be doing great as 90% of all the products are sold out.
Good problem to have!
Do you have online shop?
Great video.
