Managed to get our camper down that way...Dived that ...bagged loads of huge brown crab and massive scallops! Had mackerel fresh every morning! Had to stop and get ice on way home we had that much!.......roll on next year!
@@joeh.3370 Dude, tell me about it! I managed ONE spearfishing trip last year, that was it! I finally put it together into a video and posted it a couple of days ago. Hopefully lots more for both of us this year! Can't wait!
I dive, fish and forage the loch on a regular basis. The spearfishing is pretty terrible as fish life is pretty poor. Ive had scallops from the Loch but only one specific area. There are thousands of seatrout though to a good size. The coastal foraging is top notch with mussels, clams, cockles and whelks all to be had
@@phdotsco permit for what? Its the sea. The only thing id imagine you need a permit for would be sea trout or salmon but plenty of other stuff bar them in the loch
Hi James, Which area would you recommend for simple coastal foraging? I'm going to be on foot from Cairndown so looking to camp up on shore possibly on west side.
Normally I would say do your homework and research where your going esp local knowledge, most inshore waters in and around the Clyde est have been raped by scallop dredgers for about 40 years, in fact pretty much right up the west coast, the only places that have any kind of life are the areas that are unsuitable for dredging, lots of areas quite barren, I’ve seen dredging booms so close to the shore you could step of onto the shore and still have dry feet, The brown colour in the water is peat dye from the run off from the hills, The weather lol July is rarely a sunny month on the west it’s a pure gamble on the weather pattern, so camping in July is very much a last minute thing after you’ve seen the forecast lol however august and September are much better prospect weather wise, even the October week holiday has proven more years than nought to be pretty good weather wise, April may June tend to be good weather but can be cold, bright and cold, Glad to see you enjoying the wild camping, 👍

Cheers pal. Lockdowns done a right number on what I've been able to get up to, but looking forward to the summer and more adventures.

@@Adam_Outdoors if your starting at Cairndow there is plenty of foraging to be done around low tide near there
@@jamescampbell6669 Thanks but I'm looking to pitch up somewhere for night further away then get low tide in he morning.
not good to forage and eat shelfish like muscles in summer because of poisoning
