- My first time targeting Spurdog's turned out to be a massive success (except for the recommendation of what line to use which turned out not to be so good). I couldn't even get both rods in the water on this session!
Great video I’ve watched this video 4 or 5 times I’m really new to sea fishing bought the stuff to make pulley rigs and l think I’m going to go to loch etive and try to catch a spurdog very informative thanks
Thanks mate I appreciate the comment! I’m fairly new to sea fishing as well having only done it for the past 3 years, you learn a lot on the water so it’ll only get easier! Good luck with the spurdogs
Class video man keep it up
Cheers mate
bang on the best spot there bud -I work on those farms and thats where i always get spurs. Iv tried all over loch from the boats and sites stationed around the loch and thats defiantly the hotspot
Wow I got really lucky then! That’s the first time I ever fished Loch etive and just found the spot on Google earth. Was great fishing
@@CJsReelAdventures aye fair trek to that mark though the other side fishes well if you like lure fishing. The bonawe quarry and ledges there. Also had spurs and thornies there too but lots more sport with lure fishing for Pollock and cod. . 😂 Well played. A mark picking professional.
Cheers mate! I’ll have to try that other side next time with lures
Nice video, very deep there I've fished it from my kayak. Takes ages to wind up the fish.
Cheers! Yeah it is, I might try it again in the hope for a bigger spur of maybe even a ling or conger, I don’t see why there wouldn’t be one or 2 somewhere in there..
Great video and looks like a nice spot. I started using the 25lb wire pike traces, they work a treat for spurdog. Only problem is if you hook a skate!
Thanks! I’ll definitely be using wire next time, I learnt my lesson this session!
Great video. I like to use wire when going for spurs, never had any bite thru it
Thanks mate! I’ll definitely be using that next time, big mistake going for the mono!
Good video ye your getting plenty feed from the cages so good far out casting you will get them
That’s what I thought when I first saw them on Google earth, and there certainly was a good few!
Hi mate could you point me in the right direction when you fished loche Etive please
Did you use abut of rope to climb down the bank to get to it
No I didn’t see any rope, could have come in handy though!
The. Head left as you look at the water we were In a spot but couldn't cast over head makes me think we were in the wrong spot m8
I think we went to far along 😂we used a rope to climb down
I did walk around there for a look when I got there since it was the first time I’d fished here. I think I know where you mean. I would have thought it would have fished too though since there was so many at the mark I ended up fishing
@CJsReelAdventures yeah true mate just looked a easier fish where you are we heading back up next weekend for another go will have another attempt at finding it
Where abouts did you park up mate
There’s a small road with a car park at the other side of the river from taynuilt. It’s still a fair walk and the bank down to the loch is very steep, not a super accessible mark, I’m sure there’s easier bits to get to elsewhere
Did you cast far out mate
Some casts where out a decent distance but it didn’t seem to matter where my bait landed, I was getting bites everywhere
@CJsReelAdventures we down here now mate only had 1 doggy been here since about half 10
I’ve only fished there once but it was pretty constant, I think low tide up was fishing better though
you at tanult there
Pretty much yeah
What rod you using mate
These are Ron Thompson axellerators. Great rough ground/skate rods, a bit over kill for this mark though!
Iv got one but think it's a older model I love it had it for years what kind of model is yours mate
@@robbiegee4601 honestly I’m not too sure, just checked there and don’t see a model number or anything. I’d think it would be the newest one though as I only bought them a year ago
Please can i get a pin marker to where your fishing here or which fish farm are you near thanks
Or anyinfo please
Hi, this is the second fish farm up from Balure that you can see on Google earth. I took the road on the east side of the river awe that comes out at the bridge of awe. I’ve seen lots of posts from people fishing at all different farms so I believe they all fish equally well, just hard to get too. The bank down to the loch is very steep so be careful and pack light if you go!
Thank you we are thinking about going up in a week for the weekend hope it's non stop
@@CJsReelAdventures did you go through the gate that had keltbray dawnfresh on it mate
Didn’t see any gates with signs so not sure mate sorry
