Generating new and strange synth sounds with AI

  • I programmed a machine learning algorithm that generates virtual synthesizer patches using Max for Live in Ableton (I used Javascript inside Max). First I use an evolutionary novelty search algorithm and then I add an interface so that I can teach the algorithm to produce good synth patches based on my preferences. It could be a good tool for music production and sound design, especially in conjunction with Ableton Live and VSTs.

    Wow, such a beautiful video!
I couldn't understand half of the project, since I'm more of a hardware person lol, but the vibe, pacing and all that kept me till the end.
I'm eagerly waiting for the next video :)

This ist very interesting! Thank you very much, there should be more exploration of generative sounds I think. Even if the algorythms didn't bring too many great results, its clearly a great inspiration for new projects :) have an great day

Really cool! Lot of inspiring ideas here like the 2d matrix. What if after rating 100 patches you decide “I like the stuff I down rated more” or “I was in baseline mode before but now I want a pad” - wouldn’t ratings be different? I was digging the variations in Analog a lot!

i just discovered you and what you did in this video is incredible! how can i make this with logic lol
you should make the code you wrote open-source. i’d love to take a peak!:)
