    I love your hack with the "stopper" to punch holes closer to the edge. I will try that trick myself. I have a couple of ringbinders with similar size to the plotter rings. Two have even smaller rings than Plotter. Until now, I jave either re-cut the sheet as you explained. Or when I am lazy I just take out the sheet a tiny bitz and punch again. Compared to your elegant hack, both my methods are like using a sledgehammer for a tiny nail. 👍

      @Katiplans  Před 17 dny

      Thank you for your comment 😊 I hope you make the hack work for yourself 👍🏼 I'm just so lazy that I didn't want to do anything extra so in my mind the hack is the time and effort saver for a lazy person 😅
      I don't want to cut twice - or I have also seen people do it so that they put the paper into the punch but then just pull the paper a tiny bit out before punching. That also does the trick, but why bother with guesswork, when you can make it simple and straightforward. Of course it takes effort to build the hack, but I think it was worth making.

    I’m brand new to ring planners and, after so many years of using bound planners, I’m enjoying the flexibility and creative boost I’ve gotten from my personal rings. That being said, I’m also trying to figure out how to best use my pocket rings EDC. Thanks for all of your helpful examples!

      Thank you for commenting 😊 Welcome to the ring planner world 😅
      I have also some older videos about ring planners, if you are interested to watch. They are probably easiest to find through playlists.
      I always remember fondly when I was using personal rings as my main planner - that was planner peace then 🥰 I hope you find a working setup for your EDC 👍🏼

    Omg I didn’t know there was a mini original but of course Japan! They get all the special stuff 😅 I’m a bit overwhelmed myself and thinking a new planner will solve all my problems LOL I love all the gold details in this mini - gorgeous! I hope it works out for you. I do find that smaller space almost makes me focus more - like one thing at a time.

      Well, I think what works NOW is the most important thing. I don't believe that one thing could work always... at least not for me because I want to change things up regularly, usually quarterly. I don't think a new planner will solve problems, but it can make problem solving easier and/or less overwhelming 😉
      I assume you have spend less on all your new ring planners lately than what I have spend on this one 😬 I'm a bit jealous for your growing vintage collection 😍

    • @tortagialla
      @tortagialla Před 3 měsíci

      @@Katiplans so the vintage finds cost less but might be dangerous because I kept getting enticed to buy more 😅 it adds up regardless! I agree we have to let change happen when it is needed - I seem to just get into an overwhelm stage every so often - there’s always too much to do and not enough time. More of a mindset issue I suppose!

      It sounds like you need a planning system. And I don't want to sound like an add, but that is what I use the HB90 system for. I need regularly something that helps me to sit down, think what I'm doing, and make a plan how to continue. That helps me with overwhelm.
      You need a clear vision where you are headed and then a plan how to move forward in this moment. Because there is always more to do than we have time for. We need to learn to make make decisions where we want to spend our time. I so struggle with this still after over a decade of trying to learn this. But I do get better! And it helps to have a system what to follow regularly to make plans. I think quarterly planning works great. I can't plan for a longer period than that.
      I try to make a video where I am with my quarterly planning nowadays, because I'm trying something new now to beat overwhelm. It's a constant struggle...

    • @tortagialla
      @tortagialla Před 3 měsíci

      @@Katiplans yes its a constant struggle! I did take hb90… but its still overwhelming and of course I have a baby and two other kids so its hard to have any estimate of time available to begin with - so I know its more of a mental issue of accepting the situation 😭

    So tiny and cute! I would love to play with a mini5 but I haven’t thought of a use case yet 😂 I’ll just enjoy your videos for now. I brain dump for projects in the notes section at the back of my Hobonichi weeks. I guess then it works a bit like collections in a bujo. Great to see another video so soon! We missed you too! ❤

    • @Katiplans
      @Katiplans  Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks ❤️ Maybe you will come up with a use case someday 😉😂 But I think the main thing is that you have a working system, and it sounds like you have that 👍🏼

    I just setup the A9 3 rings binder, which is even smaller😅😅😅😅😅. Very tiny. I can manage it, but it's very tiny

      @Katiplans  Před měsícem +1

      Ah, I miss that. I switched to a pocket size cover and that's not so cuddly anymore 😅 But I'm tempted to get a Moterm A8 too... Or maybe jump straight to A9 🫣
      Thank you for commenting 😊

  • @tortagialla
    @tortagialla Před 3 měsíci

    When it comes to brain dumping or inboxes - I don’t have an issue because I have a million notebooks and places to write in - the problem is processing all those inbox locations and items. It is easy to brainstorm and even plan things but harder to actually DO all the things 😅

    • @Katiplans
      @Katiplans  Před 3 měsíci

      I try to think brain dumping as a process. Sometimes it's enough to write it down, because then you remember it better and maybe also remember to do it. But most of the time writing is just the first step of brain dumping. Then you have to decide which things are even worth saving/doing, does some of them have deadlines etc. Then you maybe organize them in categories, set reminders, plan, prioritize - and then comes doing.
      My brain rests only after it knows that I have a plan in place or things are saved so that I find the information when needed. That is why I think brain dumping is more than just writing it down. I hope this explanation makes sense...

    • @tortagialla
      @tortagialla Před 3 měsíci

      @@Katiplans makes sense but I think many of us write a lot down but don’t go through the whole process so it’s just more stuff to think about 😂

    • @Katiplans
      @Katiplans  Před 3 měsíci

      Yeah, that problem I try to solve with this setup. Because otherwise I end up writing things down on separate paper pieces which then usually are lost when I look for them 😂

  • @KateWillDo
    @KateWillDo Před 3 měsíci

    Super cute setup! I've never had a printer so I only tried pre-made inserts and it's always been weird for me: the personal size is too narrow, the mini too small etc. I'd love to try plotter but it's super expensive so probably won't happen anytime soon. Thanks for sharing!

    • @Katiplans
      @Katiplans  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Thanks 😊 I think it's good to start from the inserts. You can cut them from any paper and test the sizes. I always do that when I'm itching for a new planner 😅 And the size is so different in a bound book vs. in rings, because the holes take up space. And when you add the cover, it grows even bigger. So for example A6 is such a different experience in rings as in a bound book.
      I do hope Plotter will come to the European market some day, hopefully soon🤞🏻 Although it's expensive, it would be great to be able to buy it without a third party.

    Have you tried a moterm a9 ? Smaller then the filofax mini 5.

    • @Katiplans
      @Katiplans  Před 3 měsíci

      No, I haven't. It looks very cute. I'm just wondering about the rings/holes. The distance doesn't look standard so then you would need to use a single hole punch. Do you have an A9 Moterm?
      Thanks for commenting and making me aware of even smaller ring planners 😅

    Those folders that you use a dividers, where did you get them from please?

    • @Katiplans
      @Katiplans  Před měsícem

      They are from Plotter, product name: Project Manager 6 Colors Assortment PLT0008 (Mini 5 Size).
      plotterusa.com/products/project-manager-6-colors-assortment-plt0008-mini-5-size/
      You can buy them from Plotter if you are in Japan, USA or Canada.
      I live in Finland and managed to get mine from Amazon Japan. I don't know if other Amazons have them.
      I do wish Plotter products would be more widely available.
      Thanks for commenting, I hope this answer helps.

    Näyttää hurjan pieneltä tuo sun kalenterisetuppi, mutta hyvä kun toimii!
    En usko, että kykenisin itse noin pieneen.
    Onko sulla sitten vielä erikseen jokin suunnittelukalenteri, jos tämä on enemmän projekti/päiväkohtainen braindump järjestelmä?

    • @Katiplans
      @Katiplans  Před 3 měsíci

      Joo, ei tämä todellakaan ole ainokainen 🫣 En ole vielä tehnyt tämän vuoden line up videota... mutta Noltyn näytin muutama video takaperin. Sitä käytän perinteisenä kalenterina ja viikkosuunnitteluun ja sitä ehkä kutsuisin mun suunnittelukalenteriksi.
      Mutta käytän myös sähköistä kalenteria, ja sähköistä tehtävälista-applikaatiota jne. Yritän aina tehdä simppelimpää systeemiä, mutta en jotenkin osaa toimia yhden systeemin varassa. Aina pitää olla miljoona juttua, josta koostuu kokonaisuus 😅 Voisi yrittää selittää sitä jossain videossa 😂
