- Bareknuckle fighting couple Liam Wilson & Mathilda Wilson share their stories of how fighting has bought them together & helped them create a better future.
Liam was born in Liverpool & joined the queens guard in the British army at the age of sixteen. On release from the army Liams life took a turn for the worse with him getting into trouble living & unhealthy lifestyle. Liam moved to Sweden to create a new future where he started training in martial arts & meet his wife Mathilda.
Mathilda had struggles as a child becoming very sick & not having full use of her body. Matilda's active lifestyle was stripped away from her & in later life she was caught in the event of a tsunami with her family & also suffered a heart condition which forced Mathilda to have a pacemaker to monitor & regulate her heart.
Both Mathilda & Liam train each other & push each other to fight for a better future, fighting in the brutal sport of bareknuckle boxing & no rules bareknuckle fights. Happily married & healthy this is an amazing story about two people coming together to overcome a past & fight for a better future.

As Liams mum, ive never really liked the fighting and i worry every time he gets in the ring - that will never change, but little docs like this and the podcasts really help me understand why they do it and thats its made them both the people they are today. I support them 100% 😊
Thanks for this comment it's great feedback that keeps us going. I think watching them both in such a brutal sport as a parent must be hard but I definitely took from talking to Liam & Mathilda that fighting had made them better people and its a risk that was worth taking for them.
