I got my first Charizard at a gas station from a 10/7 dollar pack and I remember asking the cashier if I could feel the packs and I got to feel 4, picked the thicker heavier one and got a charizard.. one of the happiest moments ever

Odds of getting a holo were 1 in 3 packs, that means in a box you get 12 holos. Base set had 16 holos total, so the odds of getting the whole starter trio are not too bad.

Some things never change, holo cards in the venusaur booster pack. I always asked specifically for venusaur booster packs when I was a kid.

It's nice to come back to this video after a while now that I know you're one of the biggest pokemon collectors in the world and probably has dozens of charizard 1st editions in your huge collection. The first time I watched it I was intrigued by the lack of enthusiasm, but now it all makes sense.

@@shirleylau5 hes not that guy with like crazy reactions and the vid is 3 years old, nowadays PSA 8 (which that one probably is are worth like 3500$ or something like that but back then in was like 1000§ maximum, and there were a lot of base set booster boxes (not that many 1.editions but still a few) so it was not that crazy like its nowadays

I remember having 100’s off these when I was in grade 5. 19 years ago. Lent them to my best friend. His mum decided that was the day they would run from an abusive husband/father. Neither him nor I knew this when his mum picked him up. I waved goodbye to him and my cards that day with a “see you Monday” as he got into the car and they drove off. Haven’t seen them or the cards since :((

I remember me and my brother getting our allowance and begging my mom to take us to the mall to get pokemon cards every Saturday and on this particular time the line was all the way outside the store and the owner of the store yells out "theres a guaranteed charizard in one of these packs" (on some willy wonka golden ticket shit lol) and if im not mistaking there was a original pack (blue) and a jungle pack (green) to pick from. So everybody in line is picking which packs they want to buy. Me and my brothers turn finally comes up (he's first) he picks 2 packs from the original and 1 pack from the jungle, i pick 1 from the original and 2 from the jungle pack. We wait to get in the car to open up our packs, I let him open his up first. 3 packs no charizard, I open up my 2 jungle packs first, then my blue pack and BAM CHARIZARD!!! Man was he SICK because that wouldve been his charizard if he never got that dumb jungle pack lmao. Now my story might be a little off seeing that im now 31 and this was yeaaaaaars ago but man how good it just felt going down memory lane!! Sorry so long winded lol.

I'll never forget as a kid for my birthday my grandpa bought me 3 little booster packs... In those packs I pulled Holo Charizard, Mewtwo and Blastoise. 1st edition. Insane. What I hated about the TCG was the holos scratched so easily. I'd barely get them out of the booster pack and they'd already have scratches.

they made a sequel with the rocket expansion cards that wasn't released in the u.s. someone did a full japanese to english translation of the rom if you search for it on google and there are also used japanese carts for sale online as well. i highly recommend it if you still enjoy playing the original.

Possibly cause he knows it's fake.. let's be real they go for 20k without the inflation jump in a ps9. A ps10 which he will not have due to print flaw. A legit psa grade 10 can go for 40k. A bcg graded can go for 50k cause psa is easy graders compared to BCG. This whole pokemon stonks prices going to 200k for a charizard 1st edition psa 10. It's ridiculous. Either he knows the cards are fake or he just doesn't care that it was a repacked edition box that he may have did. Also to note you would not open a 1st edition legit booster box unless you're like Poke rev or LeonHart with 1,000,000s to kill on pokemon. Usually these guys have like 2-3 boxes and they do not mind opening 1.

I remember by parents got me a first edition charizard for Christmas when Pokemon was super popular. I was nine or something. It came in a special protector and everything. It ended up disappearing and I thought I lost it. A week later my best friend at the time showed me how he had gotten one as well. It took me years to realize that he had stolen it from me 😫😂. I was so innocent and never thought my best friend could do that to me at the time.

I had so many cards stolen over the years. Always chalked it up to the karma of fleecing every kid within a 5 mile radius. I did things that would make a sleazy used salesman blush. Lol glad that part of me disappeared as i grew up.
