Something that bothers me as to why Orel was cancelled is that it's completely fine when things like sexual assault is played for laughs but when it's taken seriously as a genuine thing that can really scar people then it's too much.
As someone with PTSD from a sexual assault, this show amazed me from how realistic its depiction of it was. Nurse Bendy, specifically. You're fine one minute, doing something you love, and then one thing reminds you of what happened and you're set off into a fearful trigger state. I really wanna ask the creator how he did that, because it was heartbreaking but genuinely made me feel less alone.

I mean yeah. Orel himself is usually the gold standard for Christianity, and half the point of the show is the contrast between his sincerity and the rest of the town with their superficial bullshit.
I was pretty nervous about this show at first since I don't typically feel welcome in any discussions about religion since I am, in fact, religious. However, I feel Moral Orel treated the subject with respect, and I never felt like it was just another edgy anti-religion show, but rather a perfect depiction of the kinds of issues that arise when hypocrisy happens. Religious or not, this show is respectful while still delivering potent truth, and AS should be ashamed for canceling it.
As a devout Christian that spends way to much time thinking existentially and reading too much into things to find meaning, this show is a masterpiece. It’s not attacking Christianity, it’s attacking hypocrisy. Every episode, even the darkest ones, can be used in theological essays. Misconceptions about God, Jesus, and the Bible’s teachings, can be easily addressed and corrected. For instance, the act of prayer in the episode where Orel uses Buddhist meditation to commune with God. The lesson there is there’s no right or wrong way to pray. Whatever gets you to talk with God is what’s important. Dissecting Clay is a whole host of different biblical lessons you can attribute. From his horrible nature, we can see makes a good man, good Christian, good husband, and good father. All based on how he’s NOT any of those things. The fact this show got cancelled, after AS told them to get more serious, is a crime against animation. It’s like how South Park is important. Everyone thinks it’s a show that makes fun of everyone and exists to offend everyone, when it’s really a show morals. The same thing with Moral Orel. They use absurd stories to convey a message. South Park is just not as subtle as Morel Orel is. But there is a lesson to be learned in every episode.
Nah all you have to do is change the characters in god chef to family guy characters and it'll be a normal episode 😭 ( and add random sequences of random things like gorillas eating stewie)
Adult Swim has a boundary which I like to call the “Dark Horizon” Where once something is on or beyond this boundary, it would be considered inappropriately inappropriate

I know Dano said Orel's story is done, but I want to dream Adult Swim will make one more movie or special for this show. Show Orel from where we left him to becoming an adult and how he turned out okay and broke the cycles of abuse from his parents.
Moral Orel deserved to end on it's own terms and shouldn't have been cancelled for that episode about sexual abuse because of how maturely it was handled, no jokes just showing the trauma
I think the most powerful part of this show was at the end when it is revealed that when Orel stayed a Christian as he grows up. He never blamed god for all the shortcomings of his toxic family, even though his family blamed most of their abuse on what gods beloved was “right”. In a sense, if he had let his family ruin his relationship with god, he would let them and their abuse change his way life for the worse, letting them win. Idk it just was super impactful to me as a person when watching that show.
I would personally like to see how their life is in the future like how the ending implies. We only see Orel, Christina and some background imagery of Shapey and Block. We never get to see what ended up happening to everybody else. What happened to Reverend Putty and Stephanie? What happened to Joe? What happened to all of the townsfolk including Ms. Censordoll? I loved this series. Originally began watching it because of the nurse bendy scene and I thought the show was so real. First couple of episodes orel mistakes something someone tells him for something bad gets into a situation (crack, impregnating women as gods chef) and then when clay finds out he “disciplines” him and repeat. But after the first season things took a dark turn into clay and blobertas dysfunctional marriage eventually leading to them splitting up briefly. Couple of episodes about background characters and some really sad ones but still enjoyable. Season three is when it got real. They shifted away from Orel almost entirely and it was really depressing. Everyone was just hopeless and had given up. There was the episode alone which led to the show being cancelled. Honestly a missed opportunity because moral Orel was amazing.

Like they were just listening to their bosses at that point, it was kinda during that era AS was known for being a super dark humor after night program, was all for the WTF laughs and not much else besides anime) From the first episode you can see the grooming the entire town does, mainly through the church to control their children. The flashbacks show you the cycle and mega huge spoilers next!! How orel breaks that cycle despite how hard it tried to break him. The ending 😂
Anyone else wondering why the dad looks identical to Butters’s dad?
Moral Orel was one of my favorite things to watch. It sucks that it's not gonna be renewed ever, but at least it got an ending, unlike other underrated shows like Utopia
It is so good! Yes super dark for sure, but when it takes the subject matter seriously it's so emotionally devastating. (Also Adult Swim told them to make it darker?? Like they were just listening to their bosses at that point, it was kinda during that era AS was known for being a super dark humor after night program, was all for the WTF laughs and not much else besides anime) From the first episode you can see the grooming the entire town does, mainly through the church to control their children. The flashbacks show you the cycle and mega huge spoilers next!!
How orel breaks that cycle despite how hard it tried to break him. It's beautifully done and it's truly heartbreaking to me it was canceled. It was a art piece before its time.
Mouths are givin me South Park references
Oral remind me of butters
That reminds me, I need to get the entire Morel Orel set and binge it, right along with Shin Chan.
