    Love these Fjords since 35 years and feel kind of home in Skiðadalur. Used to visit this Valley every year and even some times in winter for skitouring. Now I work in summer as a tour guide of the ship you filmed at Sigluðörður. Picures full of memories! Thank you for this.

      It is a magical place, even though I am looking and Skíðadalur every day from a window I still have to pinch myself sometimes how beautiful this place is. We didn't meet at the cruise ship by any chance did we?

    So glad we visited there in 2017. While we’ve been back to Iceland 4 times since, we’ve not made it back. We plan to change that in 2025.

      I just think it is great to see the effort to fight against big corporations taking advantage of Iceland's resources, it is something that's a real problem, but not many people know about this. I'd like to do a whole video on this topic in the future, too @@je4777

    Hello Jan, beautiful. I’ve been in June 2022 in Iceland with a photography trip and we visit Drangy and make beautiful pictures off the Puffins and we dit a whale tour from Dalvik and saw whales. We drove a route to the North and through the inland back to the south. So a nice country is Iceland. I’ve been there 3 times now. Greetings from the Netherlands.

      Hello Yvonne, thank you for sharing your experience. Drangey is amazing, I am hoping to revisit next summer. Do you remember which road did you drive? I've been to highlands before but still haven't done the whole drive North to South.

      @janiniceland  Před 6 měsíci

      I sure will! :) To be honest I still have to go and explore east. It is such a beautiful part and I only went there once in the winter. But I am looking forward to go deeper into the corners of the region I haven't visited, exploring and seeing places for the first time is the best!

    Hi Jan, thanks for this video highlighting the Troll Peninsula in Iceland. I would have a hard time picking a favorite as I thought each area was beautiful in it's own way. Really enjoyed seeing the Oldest Church in Iceland from above with your drone. With the grass on the roof it definitely blends in with the landscape surrounding it. Do you know if the church is still used today for services? I thought you had a nice variety of buildings, mountains, landscape and bodies of water in the video. I've heard of people going Whale watching in Iceland so it was nice seeing the whale footage as well. Enjoyed hearing you pronounce the town names as it would be challenging and require a lot of practice for a foreigner to pronounce them. When I found your channel and subscribed, several weeks ago, you had around 600 subs so congrats on growing your channel to 4,100.

    • @janiniceland
      @janiniceland  Před 6 měsíci

      Hello Ben and thank you for sharing your thoughts! Regarding the use of the church, I think that it might be used on special occasions, but as of now it is closed to public. But at least you can still walk around and take a peak inside. I'm not 100% sure about my pronunciation as icelandic is very far from my mother tongue and so it is still challenging at times 😀

    This looks amazing. How long would you suggest to do it justice and really explore.

    • @janiniceland
      @janiniceland  Před 6 měsíci

      It really depends. If you're here in the summer when days are long, I'm sure you can do it even in one day. But if you also want to do some hiking, whale watching and take it slow you can spend here even multiple days. The longest that I had guests stay at my airbnb here was 5 days I think and they really loved the area. Sweet spot is probably 2 nights - in scenario that 1st day you're checking-in in the late afternoon or evening hours, next day full day exploring, 2nd night and then you'll be driving the rest of peninsula and continue to your next destination.

    Hi Jan , i am in the north now, out of the places you showed , would you recommend a nice hike trail now in the winter?

    • @janiniceland
      @janiniceland  Před 5 měsíci

      Hello! The tricky part in this period now is that there's a snow everywhere (especially in Tröllaskagi i would say) and so it can be unsafe to hike without a proper gear. I don't know what it looks like there now, but maybe if you drive past Húsavík there could be less snow, but I don't know any hiking routes there that could be accessible. It's more about walks along the coast and exploring. There's a big black sand beach too near Ásbyrgi canyon.

    Jan, what month do you recommend to come and do spring skiing?

    • @janiniceland
      @janiniceland  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Hi Zach, it really depends on the season, but I would say April/May. In my opinion the longer you can delay it, the better - we sometimes have these freeze cycles that can turn everything into a concrete for even a week if the snow gets wet and then the temperature stay low, but closer to the end of the season the better the chances of soft spring snow every day. But again, it depends on how much snow we get each year, by the looks of it now, this season for example will be probably a shorter one.
