    I built this when it first came out and I shortened the chassis to be closer to the over the road tractors in my area. Your model looks much better than my efforts. Thanks for sharing this.

    Built one of these years ago. Actually had the real truck. It was a DM600 Maxidyne (gold dog on the hood) One hell of a truck! Converted it into a tri-axle dump truck. Brings back a lot of good memories. Thanks.

    I bought three rubber duck convoy trucks off of Ebay over the last couple years. Saying they were poorly put together would be an understatement. I've started the restoring process on the trucks and watching your video gives a guy motivation to keep going and finish them. Thanks for the vid.

  • @jeannedarcalterberserker8620

    Thank you so much! This is my fourth truck by AMT and thanks to you it was very easy to follow and build my DM600 in no time. Great review👍 thumbs up from me 😁

    Gret job on this one. It looks like there is a lot of flash on the parts. I really wish Round 2 did a better job on restoring the old tooling before re releasing the kits. Got the '36 Ford, and boy, there is a LOT of flash, all around, and some serious mold lines on the body. The last '36 I built was a 80's edition Roadster, (the one with the yellow roadster on the cover) and the tooling was in much better shape.

    • @RightOnReplicas
      @RightOnReplicas  Před 7 lety

      Rusky - I know what you mean but I'm sure like everything else it's a trade-off. If they had to spend the money to get the molds fixed they might not be able to afford those tires that have brand marking on the sidewalls like Revell does. -Doug

    Smith Transfer used Macks like this over the road. They had only the driver's seat. The offset cab was referred to as a "Sidewinder" by the driver's. My Dad drove for the last few years he worked for Smith's

  • @erichb4021
    @erichb4021 Před rokem

    Dear Sir you did a great job building the DM600 Mack I've built several of these over the years and they all came out great! Of course, I tweaked all mine like moving the drive axles closer to each other so there isn't such a big gab between the axles very easy to do. I'm writing to you! because I, purchased another kit for a friend he wanted it for his office shelf! I built the model but on this particular issue the parts didn't line up or even come near as the older version,s the cab doesn't fit onto the cab mounts! I found many flaw,s the hood even with Tweaking cannot get it to line up properly! I decided to give my friend who is 72! one of mine from my display case and this kit is going to be part's only, I bought it at Hobby lobby along with other,s but for some odd reason? this model nothing fitted right and lot,s of flashing and sanding. I just wanted to see if you ever came across a model that nothing fitted right and many pieces,s that didn't line up! I've been building model,s professionaly since early 70,s along with owning & driving 25 Tractor,s and Trailer,s! keep up the great Video,s.

      Right On Replicas Thanks Doug, that is very helpful. If you could add a link to the site so I directly click on it. You should also check out the gravel trailer from MPC. You can assemble as a trailer or dump box for the Mack DM 800 but I mounted the dump box to the DM 600.

    Do you know what year this is a replica of? I am looking for a 1972-73 Mack model R to use for a FDNY Rescue 2 cab & chassis. I will be eliminating one rear axle & scratch building the rear walk in rescue body from styrene. I already built a 1971 FDNY Rescue 1 from the AMT Mack R685ST (correct year) but can't find a 1972/73 year.

    Sir: could you please email me your directions as how to make the decals. I have tryed>>>>what a disaster. Thanks!!.

    • @RightOnReplicas
      @RightOnReplicas  Před 5 lety +1

      SCR, It's pretty simple really. If you have a good design or image you simply size it up and print it out on some good decal paper. Once printed let them air dry for at least an hour them give the decal a couple mist coats of clear lacquer. There are two types of decal paper: white and clear. Home printers don't print white so you have to use the white paper and trim the decals appropriately after the clear coat has dried overnight. Always make a spare copy of them in case one doesn't work out! Apply as normally like factory ones. -Doug.
