What an awesome product! One of my close friends growing up has cerebral palsy and struggled to use his right hand. He loved to play video games but he had to hold the controller against his leg with his right hand and use his left for all the buttons. I need to show him this controller! What an awesome product!

@@why9321 so, theres two buttons that are very big, that can be set up to be whatever you need it to be, making it very easy for those who can't use their thumbs, and a D pad aswell. It also has USB slots on it, that allows more buttons to be attached that can be put near their feet so they can use those too. Its overall very nice for those who cannot use controllers, but want to play games. It means games are more accessable for everyone.

This must have been a passion project for one of the leads as they really seemed to go all out on making this controller awesome. It's really nice to see.

Microsoft didn't come up with this.. they were faced with a MASSIVE class action lawsuit - and this is the end result. it was designed by a group of college students - I'm glad its finally being adopted, and sold! but Microsoft doesn't deserve any credit here. it was simply a business decision - pay out on a lawsuit to thousands of plaintiffs, or take a working prototype that had already been engineered and built, and bring it to market.
@@TotallyNormal- Sure they made a business decision, but it was hardly like they were bent over a barrel like you're suggesting. There's no realistic grounds for such a class action lawsuit to actually succeed. Microsoft are under no legal obligation to make a product anyone and everyone can use. If they were under such an obligation then every product sold in the US would similarly need to provide limited mobility solutions - something that's neither practical in all cases or commercially viable. Also, where's Sony and Nintendo's first party limited mobility products, as they'd be no different?
Totally Normal a lawsuit against them is ridiculous anyway. It’s sheer ignorance to sue a company that is not obligated to make a device for everyone. Somebody going to sue Chevy for not having trucks for a paraplegic? What about pencil makers for not making pencils that can be used by people with no hands? You realize how dumb that sounds?? They had no obligation but they did it anyway. Those “thousands of plaintiffs” had no leg to stand on. Microsoft wouldn’t have had to pay a dime but came out with this device to open a new market

It's one of those things you never think about until it's either happened to you or someone close to you, then you wonder 'why hasn't anyone made a more accessible controller?!?!'. I love the concept of this thing. I don't have any good ideas for it but making your own controller sounds fucking awesome. This would probably be pretty useful for flight sim setups since you'd need a ton of buttons

As a disabled gamer I highly approve of this product I'm only able to game with one hand And it is a extremely difficult to game with a controller. I just hope that It is reasonably price along with the other attachments because most people with major disability doubt but actually mean to use this have a very limited income due to social security disability

It is $99.99 for the base (what you see in the video) and attachments are extra.
It seems a Wii nunchuck looking thing is $20, each of the large buttons is $65, and more specialized items seem to be much more.

I work with people with all kinds of mental and physical disabilities and everytime I see this adaptive controller it brings a tear to my eye. I'm a Sony fanboy since the original Playstation but Microsoft and the Xbox One will now forever hold a special place in my heart.

Each of the jacks represents a button on the normal controller. You can make a completely custom setup for the player with this. Each jack is a trs/ts style plug that you can trigger with a simple normally open, non-latching button. Anything that breaks that circuit can be a button. Pressure plates, toggles, joysticks, light sensors, heat sensors, etc... this is truly a great entry for any disabled player with limited mobility. Nice job.

How much did it cost her to set up a full controller? This seems really expensive with the controller base unit costing $100 and in order to use all the buttons and switches, don't you need 10 or more plug-in accessories? I'm just curious. It seems incredibly expensive. Differently abled people already have to shell out tons of money just to live and be mobile. It's sad.

The AA alkaline batteries can be replaced with rechargeable AAs or a battery pack which allows you to switch them out and keep playing without having to wait an hour for your controller to charge and you don't have to buy a new controller every 2 years because the built in battery has lost its capacity. It's a much better solution

There’s a kid in my apartment building who is disabled (his brain can’t always comprehend his movement) who plays on PS4 and can only play when he is in peak condition which is rare. Sweet kid, he offers to walk dogs for free when he can or dog sit he’s just lovely. I think I’ll buy him an Xbox one x with this controller so he can play games when he needs them the most.
