  • Dad's old Tri-ang & Hornby Locos running on the Monsville Railways Tri-ang Series 3 Layout.
Tri-ang Couplings changed from the Mk.2b Open Tension Lock to the Mk.3 D Tension Lock (still used by Hornby today) between 1958 to 1959. This is a good way to date locomotives, Wagons and Coaches.
Dad's old Saddle Tank has the Mk.2b coupling so dates it to pre 1959. 0:07
Dad's old Jinty has the Mk.3 coupling so dates it as post 1958, however the Jinty's changed from having a body screw down the Chimney to in the side of the body in 1963. As Dad's model has the body screw down the Chimney this dates it to between 1959 to 1962. 2:02
Dad's old Industrial Tank is the newest of his Locomotives that I have, being an early 1970's model. 3:08
    Tri-ang & Hornby Catalogues. 3:51
In the Bonus Material, the Jinty has the Mk.2b coupling so dates it to pre 1959. 4:34
The Saddle Tank has the Mk.3 coupling so dates it to post 1958. 5:17
The Bonus Material Jinty also has a bulb in the cab, which seems to have been added by the previous owner?
This video is a tribute to my Dad who with Mum did their best to provide for us kids. Thank you both. 💕
River Bed Modelling coming next week. Stay tuned.
