- It looks like the day we all dreaded has arrived and the newest season of Doctor Who has been released. Unlike all of the previous ones, this season was not made by the BBC alone, but also by Disney, as it was meant to be designed to appeal to a so-called „international audience”. Which, of course, means that it actually appeals to at most 5% of the population, just like pretty much every other product that Disney make these days. To put it simply, if you’re not super into forced diversity and the opposite gender attracts you, you’ll probably not gonna enjoy it very much. In the case of the first episode of the new season, it also doesn’t help that they made it quite possibly the most disgusting one ever.

RTD has always wanted to make the show this way apparently, he just didn't have the funds and the "international" audience. Now that he does, he goes all out with the wokeness.
To be fair: expelling the methane *would* provide some amount of propulsion - the laws of inertia apply *especially* in space - but if you don't ignite it within a confining chamber, the propelling energy would be minimal at best.

Although I'm not an expert on Dr Who's lore, but from what I've heard from the big fans, all Doctors actually still exist in different timelines/universes, so he'd definitely not be the only one left.

I loved doctor who, but after watching this shit i just cant. I dont think the new actors are that bad, but the writing is so bad that i wanted to kill myself watching this. After seeing the last episodes with Tennant i thought that maybe this new series would be good, even though the first solo episode of the black guy was really dumb. But this? Like wtf. Like there is so many things they could have done better. Like at least kill some babies with that monster and make it feel at least a bit scary. Doctor Who should be scary. This is as scary as teletubies. And than kill the monster. Like how does that even make sence? You saved something that tried to kill everybody and now its your friend. Thats a story for 5yo. See, it's easy to come up with crap ideas, but this is not what you want when you are actually meant to be writing scripts for one of the most loved and longest running sci-fi shows on the planet. We're likely looking at the very last series that will get made for this franchise.

It was a creature made by a machine to be part of a story on a nursery ship. The dr reprogrammed the computer to be not an evil creature. Overall wasn't a bad episode
Apparently it was part of the "fantasy world" the AI machine crated for the kids. Made no sense to save it, though, since they were headed toward a planet to settle down anyway, plus the monster would have to be kept in the airlock chamber indefinitely if they were to keep living on the station.
Actually the fact they can use reactive mass to obtain thrust is the only bit this show got right.
I mean how you actually steer now you have broken orbit is completely ignored. What is more likely to happen is the station will now decay and burn up as it enters the planet's atmosphere.... Oh well...

According to official "science", yes, it would work. Reality is different though - I've written a whole chapter about this in my book. You can also find vids on YT of experiments where people try reaction engines in a vacuum chamber, proving that it doesn't work. As for the monster, I have no idea what it's supposed to eat, but I guess the boogers of the kids 🤢
Is it me...or does anyone get the impression that these shows are now specifically being made cringe and crap like this just to have the 'hate-watchers' as a viewing demographic?
I mean, it doesn't matter to the producers if the show is loved or hated as long as they get viewing numbers (which they have failed badly at anyway lol).
It's hard to tell whether they actually want them to flop just to show off how much money they can burn, or they actually think they have a chance of being successful...

Eh, while I think you're a bit over dramatic and some of your points are definitely nitpicks or just you're so set to hate the show you hate verything about it regardless of it's own merit - as examples, the old woman being Nan'e is fine, just a bit of not-overly-clever wordplay. There's been worse in the show, there's been better, get over it.
The children speaking is odd sure, but then again, this is doctor who... time travel, immortal ever-adapting cyborgs, psychopathic quantum-assassin-statues and a screwdriver that can influence anything and everything so long as it's convenient is fine, but space babies being able to speak is too much, seriously?
If anything, my main gripe with the episode is that the doctor is a painful gay stereotype that does two things: first it makes it so the entirety of the character's identity is just "they're gay", everything else becomes secondary or barely noticeable with how hard the show smashes you over the head with "they're gay, have you noticed how gay the gay character is. They behave so gay for someone that's gay, don't they?"
and two, instead of representing the homosexual audience, it makes a caricature of them. Not only making it feel like whoever wrote/directed the character is stuck in the 2000s and how a gay man was thought to be back then, but also pretty much playing right into any bigoted people's views and showing them that the gay men are exactly as they imagine them to be.
It's so goddamn rare to fine a naturally queer character in a movie. A character that's just a person and a player in the movie's story, that just happens to be queer. But no, the queerness always has to be the loudest, front and center trait of their character just so the studios can point to them as proof of their diversity when they're ticking their tokenism boxes.
And the fact he's black... eh, who cares, get over yourselves. As long as the writing, directing and acting is good, nobody should give a fuck what their skin color or sexuality is.

About the Dr being black, I don't. He's always been a British guy, since the show is part of British culture and history. Which makes sense, if you consider that it's paid for by the British taxpayers. So the least they could do is cast a Dr who best represents the people who made the show possible - so definitely not a POC.

This is abomination, but at 7:00 you are wrong. Releasing methane gas is not jet engine but simple reaction engine and as such of course it will work. Will be impulse high enough to change station position significantly is another question.

@@earlydoomer346 Yes, it is reaction engine. For example, If you release fair balloon in vacuum, it will move in opposite direction than exhaust at even bigger speed than on Earth in atmosphere.
In fact many maneuvering engines on on spacecrafts often using compressed gas as propellant. They do not have as high specific impulse as rocket engines, but are far more simple, durable and easier to control.
Also nothing in real life is instant. So gas will not fill available volume instantly but at finite speed, which is btw quite low (high subsonic at best).
@@tomascernak6112 A lot of assumptions there. We can't rely on what they tell us about "rockets in space", since we have no way to verify it and space agencies have been caught lying countless times. All we know is that the laws of thermodynamics apply, which dictates that gases always fill up the available volume of any container. And there are actual experiments you can find videos of where they attempt jet propulsion (what a reaction engine does) in a vacuum chamber, and it doesn't work.
@earlydoomer346 Basically the show is correct in principle but it was very poorly animated in practise, so it's fair enough that you're skeptical. It has nothing to do with jet propulsion, it's just simply releasing highly pressurised gas, which would provide a thrust due to Newton's third law. If you have gas that's really highly pressurised, and you make a hole in the container, it's going to come out really fast, as the gas particles are moving really fast at high pressure and there is nowhere else to escape. The show animated it wrong though because the gas clearly isn't moving fast enough. By the way I've just finished my master's in physics, I've done stuff way harder than this

In this episode, he barely had anything important to do, other than saving the snotmonster for some reason - and ofc. dumping Marxist propaganda on us. In Ep2. he gets to really shine, though. There, at one point he actually breaks down with despair and has to be consoled by thirst-trap, like the embodiment of masculinity that he is.
