      @@qpol i can get around it on most websites by blocking the ad block element. its hilarious.
      just right click, go down to, inspect (Q), and right click on the highlighted html code and delete node. if you mess up just refresh the page.
      sometimes they block scrolling which makes it harder. very few websites disable right click.

    Honestly using an ad blocker in this day and age is pretty much a requirement. Even big websites can bring viruses with ads.

    if ads weren't as invasive and/or annoying i'm sure people would have no issue with keeping ads enabled

    Never have I ever bought anything because of an ad. And the day adblockers no longer work, I will probably use the internet a lot less. BTW, for android users, there are a lot of third party browsers with extensions for blocking ads and tracking, and I hope more people would use them. Ads and data harvesting are a scourge.

      You’ve definitely bought things because of ads subconsciously. But I agree, as I have also never purchased some thing through an ad, but I am aware that advertisements shape my consciousness.

    There are many more reasons for us to use an adblocker that are not just blocking ads. As the Joker would say, "It's not about money. It's about sending a message". Some people like me were introduced to the web (and the internet) at a time when companies, corporations and politicians were not on it. And let's just say that some of us are not exactly happy with what they are doing with the web and the internet. I'm obviously talking about big corpos like Google, constantly enforcing their "vision" of the web and the internet and proposing things such as the "web integrity API" which should not even exist in the first place. By blocking ads you are blocking one of their main sources of income. Less money = less power, which ultimately leads to them losing their grip on the internet. So, to answer your question of "did this video change your mind?", the answer is obviously not. Because the web is almost unusable without an ad-blocker, and because I don't want to give my two cents to those big corporations that are essentially ruining the web and the internet.

    I was a non-ad-block user for most of my life, but in the past 3-4 years ads have gotten REALLY bad, annoying and intrusive, so I started using adblockers and never looked back.

  • @midori_the_eldritch

    I find adds are often invasive enough to make me stop using a site, completely unrelated to my life, unpleasantly distracting, or often all 3. So I adblock.

    How i see the situation is, that the online advertisers are the core reason why adblockers exist.
    What I mean is that they went way too trigger happy with their "power" and started to just spam people with endless waves of pop-ups and outright scams.
    Resulting that most mid to late 90's websites were more taxing to ran than the og Chrysis.
    Then there was and still is the fact that the online advertising is apparently ran with some non patched Windows XP RTM machines.
    At least that it feels like when looking at how often these advertisers get hacked and become a attack vector to spread viruses and other malware to your machines.
    So yeah I'm not turning off my adblocker thanks.

    • @Jurtaani
      @Jurtaani Před 5 měsíci +1

      Also i didn't even talk about the sorry state that CZcams is with their own advertisements.
      I mean if i fill out one of those Mr. Beast survey ads and lose all my money? Can I then go and collect not only my scammed money but also that 1 000€ to 10 000€ that the ad promised to me from Google?
      Well if they want me to disable my adblocker, then they can also stand behind the ads they approve on their platform. 🙄

  • @ZombieCSSTutorials
    @ZombieCSSTutorials Před 9 měsíci +5

    The day youtube forces me to watch ads, will be the day i get off of CZcams and move to Rumble. Ad revenue doesn't necessarily go to a creator anymore since they enabled ads on all videos, not that I was ever looking to make money off of CZcams, but Google decided to make money off my content anyway.
    I'm not here for the fame and money, and Google also censors the channels I watch and generally makes it hard for creators and viewers anyway. I'm currently in the process of simply moving my videos. Enough is enough.

    A simple browser plugin that lets you pay 1-20 cents to read an article or watch a video would give them just as much if not more money per view and you have no ads. Why isn't this a thing? Instead, you have to pay like 100 dollars a year for one paper. It makes no sense. I'd be fine with paying 5 cents to read an article, not going to pay 100 dollars a yaer

    On my computer i have adblock disabled for 2 sites, because they don't throw ads in your face. 1 ad that can be hidden and thats it. Everywhere else is littered with ads. CZcams, Bulbapedia, Fandom... sites like those are the reason I block ads at all. If you want me to turn my adblocker off, don't hurt my experience for doing so.

    This is unpopular, but the way I see it is if you never saw that revenue in the first place then it was never lost. Also I do not need ads of the annoying text to speech bot flashing images of a crap product that does not interest me at all. I buy what I hear about from other people, I avoid many things that are directly advertised to me.
