      Speak about reliability ?
      Don't worry, Corolla GR will come with the Yaris GR in one or two year and bye bye GTI

      @@KlutchBelgium lmao corolla will never come close to golf populairity in europe. And compare it to golf R not gti. Tuned golf R will still slap that bout to blow 1.6 yaris engine. Not much tuning potenital

      @@upload2137 dude you're wrong ! Simply because the waiting lists for the GR Yaris are full for many years everywhere in Europe. They had to stop recording clients orders to avoid unbelievable long lists. Yaris didn't failed the popularity as you said.
      Why do you need to talk about tuned golf R ? Afraid to lose with a stock one ? Not so sure to win against a Toyota suddenly !

    • @upload2137
      @upload2137 Před 2 lety

      @@aviationaerospacechannel5987 that doesn’t say much. All depends on production rate. I can tell you Golf R’s are way more popular in europe. Never seen a gr yaris in my life. And i know how most people view cars and which cars they like. Trust me most people in europe don’t even know what the gr yaris is. Stop exaggerating please. The car really isn’t that populair here. Or show me sales numbers for every european country since release, and lets look if it out sold any european hothatch

    • @upload2137
      @upload2137 Před 2 lety

      @@aviationaerospacechannel5987 there are 12 gr yaris’s for sale in my european country second hand. While their being 40+ Golf r’s filtered from the same model year and 40+ golf gti’s. And thats with the golf 8 just launching in 2020 over here and being really overpriced compared to the 7. (gti 50k and r 70k). Plus the gr yaris isn’t cheap here. Second hand it goes for 50k or a bit above. Same as a new gti or a second hand relatively new golf R. 8/10 people will choose one of those

    Corolla 1.6 16v is surprisingly fast car, and one of the most reliable older car out there.

      That is very true. The 1.6L engine produces a lot of power and does not use much petrol and is a Toyota so it is extremely reliable.

      I totally agree! I had '94 Corolla 1.6 XSi Sedan (115hp) and I was quite surprised how swift that car actually was for a 4-door "family sedan". And very reliable too. Kind of miss that car even nowadays.

      Mine has done 317 000 km (197000 miles) on original clutch and exhaust in the snow and the rain in mountainous western Norway. Good winter car, always starts on first try even in -15C temperature. A lot of people have been surprised when they overtake me, but can´t loose me out of their rear view mirror up the steepest and most curvy mountain roads... it only weighs 1050 kilos, that is really light for a 114hp car, and modern cars are getting heavier, so it keeps it´s edge even after 27+ years on the road.

    I'm not familiar with the UK Corolla models. But, are you guys sure that this is the 1.6L(4AFE) and not the 1.8L(7AFE) engine? I realize Mr Clarkson mentioned "1.6 L'" in the video, but is it possible that he tested the 1.8L model instead?? I could be dead wrong, but I highly doubt that the 1.6(4AFE) model will spank a GTi of that year. I mean, I just thought I would throw that out there.
