    Yes he prepared for UPSC for maybe 8-8.5 months and cleared it too. But he made a habit of studying & understanding concepts and consistency for a long time.

      Yes, always remember that it is not the duration, rather it is the approach of learning that helps in rapid skill development. Never make this preparation Process Oriented (Number of Hours, books) rather make it Outcome Oriented (Understanding the examiner and building the exact skillsets to tackle the examiner).
