    I know this is an old video, but kudos on making a video that the pro, and boat owner can clearly understand👏 I’ve watched a lot of different CZcams guys that either holler too much, or they get all caught up in the details causing confusion for us everyday guys that just want a shiney boat!
    You explain everything, and show hands on what it should look like! So thanks. I’ve done 3 different boats I’ve bought over the last two years, and still can’t seem to get great results. I’ve bought good gear, and used several different products like 3m, presta etc… but you can always see some oxidation in the Gelcoat? The one I’m working on now, is the worst one so far especially the console. I had to remove it to repair the fuel tank, so going to give your wet sanding technique a try to see if that helps get better shine results! Perhaps I’m not running the buffer fast enough, or maybe not enough pressure? Either way I keep getting a little better the more I do, and learn from your channel. So thanks again😀

      Definitely need to dive into wet sanding if you still are seeing oxidation in your gelcoat. Maybe you need to run the buffer slower and more pressure. Those are usually my first 2 tips of advice for getting a good cut and finish with your compound

    So now that you have been using the ultra lock what our your thoughts compared to power lock. Might be a good video to compare. Keep them coming man. Learned a lot from you as a diy guy for my on boats.

    Hello, good video …do you have start with a grit 1000 ?

    • @topdockpro
      @topdockpro  Před 7 měsíci

      No, but even on super heavily oxidized boats 400 is the lowest you should go

    Once I have my boat perfect will a good degreasing light polish and Jescar Ultra Lock + once a year keep oxidation away?

    • @topdockpro
      @topdockpro  Před 10 měsíci

      I suppose it depends where you live and your setup. Typically every 6 months is better

    Why didn’t you use a da with a foam pad for polishing?

    • @topdockpro
      @topdockpro  Před rokem

      The gelcoat wasn’t in proper condition to run a DA, so we finished with a medium wool

      @@topdockpro what are the telling signs whether to use a da foam pad or rotary yellow wool for polishing step after compounding? I was also confused how this video showed low budget compared to other videos. In this video and “high budget other videos”. Was the only difference in price because u didn’t start by sanding? You still compound, polish than seal in this video like every other…

      @@jacksonk7205 Ardex 600 and super heavy grit compounds should be taken out with level R or another heavy cut diminishing but this customer seemed to wanna save $ so the yellow wool will be better at cutting out the deep scratches and swirls will providing a gloss finish. If he wanted to he could have polished the full boat on an orange pad after the yellow pad for perfect results
