A collection of fifteen (Audio Book) stories featuring ghoulies, ghosties, long-leggedy beasties and things that go bump in the night. Expect shivers up your spine, the stink of human flesh, and the occasional touch of wonder.
I was going to read this, but then I realized... TECHNOLOGY

wow this was 9 years ago, are you still active on this account? have you graduated college? are you married? what’s the future like?
@@minecool75 Could be better. I wish I'd used this account to start a let's play channel. I still could and might, but if I already had and kept with it I'd probably be living on my own in a nice place rather than with my parents.
The world is bigger and scarier even though I understand it better. In fact, it may be Because I understand it better.
Times have changed but the same kinds of complex problems are abound. I'm doing alright, but it pains me to think about how tough most other people have it.
So for now, I'll quietly chug along building skills, practical or otherwise, improving my frame of view and working so that one day I'll be able to not only live off of my own efforts, comfortably at that, but also be able to better help others on a larger scale.
Whenever I think about how frustrating the past was, or how scary the future may be, I find myself saying the catchphrase of an anime villain who could stop time.
"Toki Wa Moki Desu" or, more commonly I'll say it to myself in English: "Time Continues".
Is that what you wanted?
@@Robbuffet That was beautiful
@@Robbuffet"Time continues", i can realise it now after two years of facings the drawbacks of my decisions and be in caged in the cage of gloom and doom .
I like how almost everyone in the comments is here because of an assignment. xD
Thanks for uploading.
Yessir 😅
Every time he says "Black Veil" i hear "Black Whale"
Same
Do you mean Leslie Jones?
YES
The Ministers Black Whale.... So reverse Moby Dick?
When the project is due tomorrow but you can't be bothered to read the writing.
me rn:
I'd rather watch paint dry for the rest of my life than be forced to read yet another Nathaniel Hawthorne story.
vanessa rae be careful what you wish for
vanessa rae I couldn't agree more
The Scarlet Letter was such a pain in the ass
VioletDrosera I agree, I had to read that bullshit too.
Well idk about the REST of my life, but a half hour never hurt anyone...
listening to it instead of reading it for class... so much better!!!
I'm. So thankful to have had such amazing teachers who exposed me to great works such as this. 20 Yeara later I'm back with a whole new appreciation and understanding
Love this story. So many ambiguous elements. Great reading of this!
No it doesn't have "ambiguous elements" it's just garbage. It is so boring that only an absolute loser with nothing else to do would possibly read this for enjoyment. I highly suggest that you do something productive with your life rather than waste your time with this hard-to-read piece of trash.
nerd
Didn't realize it was difficult for others to find a personal interpretation for this short story. IMO, I thought the story was about how humans, especially those that are accustomed to superstitious thinking, have an innate tendency to make assumptions and prejudices from small unexplained variables, then creating fictitious stories and rumors to explain said unknowns, and then asserting these lies and assumption as reality. In short, a common human failing, sin innate in human nature, is our propensity to live in fiction than reality based on fact.
I played professional football in South America for many years. It was the best days of my life.
I remember reading this story in college for my American Literature I class.
I had to do a 12 page paper on it but it still became one of my favorites stories I read in college
For god sake what have to write in the 12 pages 😮
That was beautifully read. Thank you!
I am apparently the only person here “reading” this for fun. I hope these 30 minutes of my life don’t go to waste.
Beautiful
I kinda like this actually oops. either way this is nice bc I feel like I can understand it when I get read to so 10/10
I love it when the screws pipe scary audiobooks into our cells every halloween week.
God damn. Whelp im a Hawthorne fan now?
Stop Asking For My Name Google. Me too, fam
thank you for reading this for me
I love your voice it brings me the only happiness in my life
Why does Mr. Hooper have a black whale on his face? 😂👍🏼
Librivox is a great audiobook project but pronouncing 'black veil' as 'black whale' is really distracting from the dark atmosphere. I saw a reading by the great Basil Rathbone, and now I am leaving the 'black whale' behind me.
Watching a short film on it is better than listening to it
your voice makes it impossible to listen at 1.5x speed so now I actually have to waste a whole 30 min of my time for my English hw.
I’m in class right now listening to it at 2x
💀💀💀@@anagarcia-oh5pl

Father hooper
I am so happy I didn't have to read this story its so boring but better then failing😘
Same, I have to do an essay on symbolism and characterization with this reading, I could not get through it so thank God for Audio Books
The Ministers Black Whale😂
Looks like I'm the only one here in 2024 lol
nah
I wish liturature wasn't required I get some of the importance I just have no interest whatsoever what some guys who's been dead for centuries wrote
Literally tho
is this story about race? he puts on the black veil and people start treating him differently when he is the same person underneath the veil.
+Jahri D no, its about sins that everyone is hiding. Since he wears the veil all the time, everyone can see their sins
kissandmakeup16 that's very interesting.
Jamaican Singer - JahriD this was written far before racial divides were discussed
lmao@Alexander Blackledge
Alexander Blackledge she was just asking...
not that good
