    I love love love this channel and the prayer before cooking. I’ll try this recipe but what’s the difference between drop scones and kaimati

      Thank you so much Lizzy! I sincerely appreciate this.
      Drop Scones, from the name, are made into a thick heavy smooth butter and dropped into the pan like I'm doing in the video. Kaimati generally have the characteristic spicy ingredients in it now that I think it originated from the coast- usually cardamom. It's also deep fried mostly though sometimes I'll make the dough lighter with more liquid to fry like Drop Scones. But this is a personal way of doing it if I don't want to use alot of oil for deep frying. Hope this answers

    I want to make this for my family today, I remember when my mum used to makes these, they were epic. She deep fried and would swap out milk with mala. I wonder what difference it'll make using milk. I also remember deep frying really used up cooking oil hahahaha it is now more expensive hehehe so shallow fry it is.

    • @recipesandhospitalitywithclara

    Whats the difference btwn drop scones and pancakes

    • @recipesandhospitalitywithclara
      @recipesandhospitalitywithclara  Před 3 lety +3

      The drop scone butter is thicker than pancake butter. I personally like using bicarbonate of soda for plain pancakes while I use baking powder for drop scones. Drop scones are also faster in that you can do more at once rather than one at a time as is the case with pan cakes. Hope that's helpful

      I hope I got the question..
      The butter for drop scones is slightly heavier than pancake butter.
      Drop scones are also more crispy and I think they are tastier.
      I also use bicarbonate of soda for pancake, not baking powder!

      Yes, you can. I've actually done another one (Eggless Drop Scones) on the channel where I use margarine instead. You might also like that one.

    • @recipesandhospitalitywithclara
      @recipesandhospitalitywithclara  Před 3 lety

      Thank you so much Rachael! Yes I've tried them deep fried- but these are still the better option..
      But the Kaimati recipe on the channel, which is closest to drop scones one, is the best to deep fry. You will also enjoy the Kaimati one a lot!

    • @recipesandhospitalitywithclara

      Hi Catherine, now that it's non-stick, I use the normal scoring pad, not steel wool or the other harsh ones. Hope that answers..

      @@catherinechege6053 you're welcome! When the outer part gets dirty because it sometimes does, I then can use steel wool or a stronger one.. oil that is stuck is hard for me to remove any other way.😊
      You're motivating me to research a little more on this!😀
