  • North America got a big shock when we found out the Northern Lights would potentially be visible as far south as southern California and Florida! There were no guarantees, but thankfully, Mother Nature provided a spectacular show. This was my experience with aurora borealis with my son at Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument.

Awesome photos and video footage! I also had a mother and son experience with the aurora. We were both in awe of such a glorious display!

Oh, what a special moment to get to spend with your son! I was a big dumb-dumb and forgot to even go outside to look! :(
I've heard that they weren't (aren't?) all that visible to the naked eye, and that the pictures you see bring out a lot more color. Did you find that to be true?

Oh no! It looked really cool for us. Not quite as brilliant as the photos, but where we were, it was really neat to watch. Toward the end as it got more purple it was harder to see, but still photographed beautifully. It sounds like the next few years we may have more opportunities to see it, so here’s hoping!
