2003-04 was Ron Artest at his finest. He made his one and only All-Star game and claimed Defensive Player of the Year while averaging 18.3p, 5.3r, 3.7a and 2.1s in 73 games. Dwyane Wade’s debut campaign saw him post 16.2p, 4.5a and 4.0r a night on 46% in 61 games. Led by Wade, Eddie Jones and Lamar Odom, the Heat started their ‘04 playoff run with a 7 game series win over Baron Davis’ New Orleans Hornets. The Association-best 61-21 Indiana Pacers saw Boston in the 1st round, ending the Celtics’ season with a quick 4-0 sweep.
Heading into this Semi-Final game 6, Indiana led Miami 3-2. Neither team had scored under 80 through the first 5 games. This was bound to change. With the season in jeopardy, game 6 was a must win for the Heat. One victory shy of the Conference Finals, the Pacers looked to close them out in South Beach.

Man you forget how good Artest was on BOTH ends of the floor in his Indiana years before that fateful night in Auburn Hills in late 2004. It's a shame because that 2004-05 Pacers team really could have won a championship. Also, young D-Wade was special. You could already see it in his rookie year, the year before Shaq got there. Good content once again!

Definitely would've like to see this version ofRon Artest play out a few more years. His dropoff after the Malice at the Palace incident deserves to be added to the list of the great NBA what-ifs, behind d-rose injury and t-mac injuries, Len Bias murder, and the Bulls abruptly ending their dynasty right after a 3-peat.

@@vincaso Well just think about the loss of momentum, both physically and mentally. One minute your the best player on your team, MVP candidate, about to get your first chip for your franchise... and now youre one of the most hated players in the league, and you dont get to play basketball for a few months because of a freak incident. I mean if thats not a low blow, idk what is. Some players just dont have a strong enough mental side to overcome that, so yes it definitely affected Ron Artests' prime years.

what an absolute joy it was to watch both of these players. Artest was simply a bulldozer of a forward but had that quickness. Wade was so fast with the ball in his hands that you just couldn't do a thing about it and he showed incredible control.
Low scoring but very intense playoff game.. Young Dwade was really explosive on both ends of the floor.. Ron Artest with only few moves but was unstoppable in this game..
Artest was a bigger contributor offensively than most people remember. And of course, he was a strong defender, one of the best in the league. Combined into one player, that definitely makes him a valuable all star and you could definitely see it.

As a Heat fan I'm still waiting for an explanation for going to Eddie Jones when Wade was cooking.
Or why Wade was not in the game on that final possession. It doesn’t matter that they were down three and he wasn’t a good three point shooter statistically. The kid had clearly proven by that point he needed to be on the court as much as possible. Never been a fan or a believer in Stan Van Gundy as a coach.
Lol Wade only a rookie and he was walking on these veterans and legends. Wade ate Miller alive on that first play.

Wade was already showing signs of greatness as a rookie, such a 4th quarter clutch performer. The Heat lost that game because of the veterans playing in the 4th quarter. Poor play by Eddie Jones, and the coach deciding to keep Wade on the bench in the final possessions.

This is the playoffs I became both a Heat and Dwade fan. To this day I yhin3k if it wasnt for injuries the Heat would have 3 peated between 05-07. Wade is so underrated.

I was 15 yrs old, & at this game, & game 4. Wow, even after the L, I was so excited for next season, & the making of a dynasty before our eyes. & then Riley traded it away for a 3 year rental for Shaq. At least we got our first ring with the trade, but it followed with Wades prime years (pre Lebron) playing virtually solo (no disrespect to the Matrix Shawn Marion cuz I loved him). But man, Lamar & Caron still became champs. I always say these 3 were destined to bring it home to Miami if they were never separated. Oh well! All in all Pats been amazing to the Miami Heat. Thank you Pat!

He was really solid thru ‘09 on Houston when they pushed the Lakers to 7 games. After that tho becoming a role guy in 09-10 with LA set him back as it does with alot of guys who sacrifice roles. But on Indiana, Sacramento, and Houston he was giving you 18-20 a night consistently.

I dont think anything major, just got older, but thats normal. Had a surprisingly long career for someone who looked like a lost cause after the brawl. Ended up playing 17 seasons.
