    I've been pushing the parallel between the DC/FS war and the last phase of the Sassanian/Roman wars. Specifically, you have an emperor killed by a usurper (Harrison killed by Caleb), leading to a collapse of the military (instead of a civil war you get a massive trap and massacre), followed by a loss of most of the empire's territory and the investment of the capital (in this case, the Dragon's Tongue and the occupation of New Avalon). A young, energetic patriot overthrows the usurper and begins rebuilding the army while leaving the capital to its own devices under the command of the patriarch (Julian is elected First Prince and scrambles to rebuilt the army with the RotS's help while trying to force a peace on the Capellan front that leaves him with enough resources to support a military revival, and the Warrior Pope of New Avalon is gathering a resistance on New Avalon), culminating in a 6-year campaign that sees the new emperor defeated all comers, including defeating several generals in single combat, ultimately seizing the enemy capital and defeating the enemy once and for all (Julian has an opportunity to cut off most of Kurita's forces which are spread across the Dragon's Tongue, leaving many of the core territories of the Combine vulnerable and possibly opening Luthien itself to invasion, while the New Avalon Pope is steadily bleeding the Combine's occupation forces). The empire treated with the White Huns and got them to attack the Sassanians from the rear (the Ghost Bear Dominion is plunging into civil war, and I could easily see some of the pro-Clan warrior factions deciding to attack the Combine, further bleeding the DCMS). In the aftermath, both countries were badly weakened, but the Sassanians got much the worst of it and collapsed entirely under the Arab invasions that followed, while the Romans at least managed to hold the line eventually (Clan Snow Raven and the Outworlds Alliance could well prove the spoilers here, taking advantage of the chaos they've sewn to grab large chunks of both Successor States).

    • @Alex-pj8nz
      @Alex-pj8nz Před 2 lety +2

      Yup, I expect DC will attack the Ghost Bears while in their Civil war starting a war between the 2 while SR will attack the DC after it suffer horrible losses due to their over stretch supply lines and the fact that FS is creating irregular units armed with Clan Tech weapons while the DC only has militia units armed with Inner Sphere weapons. SR might also want revenge for DS killing of a Clan like the Wolves. We also need to consider that the scorpions might show up since they were not mentioned in Tamar and empire alone ?

    I see 2 outcomes for the New Avalon Campaign.
    1. The DC will be forced to make a retreat to its boarder along the dragons tongue after losing New Avalon, and in many ways it may become a very reenactment of Napoleons charge into Russia. With there flanks so easily exposed and with the capital proving a lost cause, what remains of the army must run to safety before the corridor is broken.
    2. We end up with a Stalingrad situation. New Avalon ends up in a siege like situation with troops landing in on it over time with FS forces cutting the tongue with DC forces having refused to give the capital up so quickly, however, not find themselves trapped and there resources slowly depleting and a pocket slowly being forced down on them.

    • @Alex-pj8nz

Broker a deal with anything that isn't occupied by clusters of clanners later on. Cleaning up the back of her territory helps tremendously for logistics I would think, re educating now clan populations maybe less so. I doubt the new minor states pose a threat to stiner and create a stress free buffer she never could that will do all the heavy lifting until a more convenient time. • @codyraugh6599
    @codyraugh6599 Před rokem

    So i was going over books writen in this era, read the whole "oh Grey Monday was just some Blakists who happened across my setting destroying super weapon i just so happened to have laying around" but i noticed something interesting.
    The Word of Blake's protectorate has been destroyed. But we now have a Manei Domini agent named Lucifer as of 2020's Legends book, and Apollyon has made it very clear he would never give any of his Manei Domini the name Lucifer or Satan. Also most of the Manei Domini are MIA not KIA and at least two of the Word's Hidden World's remain unconquered.
    Add on that marketing wise its just flat stupid to have mech designs like those used by the word of Blake be not only WOB exclusive but for only one short era when the vast majority of mechs have at least two eras to their name.
    But then the WOB made their army for the express mission of exterminating the Clans and now we have a Ilclan on Terra. The very thing the WOB dreaded and wanted least of all being willing to go postal on the whole inner sphere just to avoid the remote possibility of someone else allowing the clans to invade Terra.
    So what we have is acknowledged remnants in Comstar, shaddy background plots from the people living in the old protectorate, a army of cyborg super soldiers who've had some 70 years to recruit and prepare, and what are still some of the most distinct and unique mech designs that could easily be upgraded for the era and combined with the cyborg pilots could easily serve as a "counter clan" army.
    I think the WoB is going to make a return with the express mission of driving at minimum Clan Wolf out of the Inner Sphere, Clan Ghost Bear, well I think they're popular enough with the locals that even the Wobbies couldn't possibly succeed in driving them out even if they have allies in the form of some of the Houses (notably the Lyrians) and maybe the Dragoons and Free World's League though that would certainly be some teeth clenched teamwork...but then again the story potential in that alone, plus giving Dragoons maybe access to Wobbie mechs would be insane.
