    One thing I also do when replacing the oil filter is to fill the filter with oil before putting it on.

      Good pointer and nice to learn tricks from others.

    Nice little tip.. use ramps it won’t hurt the car I have a C5 and ramps gives you safety and a lot of room. Ramps would only push in the plastic guards which won’t hurt it so.. just drive up and you will be fine

    I never saw someone check the oil level with the engine running ! The oil for this engine 6 1/2 quarts with filter. You should measure that other quart and a 1/2. Over filling can cause problems!

      Yea i know, I checked it but didn't realize the camera wasn't on until later on. Oh well, I think everybody gets the point to check the oil. Yea the 5qt jugs have lines for each qt so i always fill with 6, peddle to the floor to circulate the oil without the engine turning over and then top off as needed. Thanks for the comment

    Good job with the oil change and video! Mines already put up for winter. Snowing like crazy here today.

      A cold stretch of weather is approaching here too. Putting it away tomorrow. Can't wait for winter to be over.

    Millennium Yellow--striking color--very cool. Couple of comments: Suggest adding oil to the filter before installing it on the engine. Also, suggest using fresh oil on the seal for a secure leak free fit. Finally, after running the engine to circulate the oil, shut the engine off and then check the level of the oil on the dipstick. Add oil to correct level on dipstick, if more is needed.

      Clean oil on the gasket makes no difference than old oil

    My filter wrench that I use on my Harley also works on that filter.

    I use latex gloves and dont drop the filter so it doesnt splash. Good video though. 👍

    Dave I saw the old filter was a fram. Use either WIX or NAPA, best on market. Recent test showed that the fram was junk.
    My C-5 shows 6 and a half in the manual

    you should fill up your filter with oil ..not a good thing to put it in dry...

    Hey Dave. Are you using jack stands in the rear? Also, what ton jack do you use?

    • @YellowVette04
      @YellowVette04  Před 6 lety +2

      American Graffiti 615 yes, two stands in the back and 2 in the front. 3 tons for each one, little overkill but 2 were gifted and 2 are from harbor freight. My jack actually decided to call it quits a few months back so I need a new one, but it was a 2.5ton extended low profile jack. Gets under the front bumper and makes rising the front a breeze.

      That big of a difference?

      Thought the same thing, not a huge deal but my OCD makes me lube the gasket with new oil. I also fill the filter about half way. Just a good habit to get into.

    • @YellowVette04
      @YellowVette04  Před 6 lety +1

      Thanks for the advice. There's been a few that said to fill the filter up, so I started doing that.

      stevie boy that small amount of oil doesn’t make a difference. You think the residual oil in the motor is perfect? Lol. Calm down.

    • @YellowVette04
      @YellowVette04  Před 5 lety +1

      @@Debkghtulvkfjkjfxjjcj thought it was ridiculous as well. I don't see how new oil would lubricate the ring any better than old oil.

    Or just have a horribly sloped driveway, problem solved.
