That's one of the best and most simple parts of these channels. The advertising they are getting for this is way better than just a commercial. Genuinely giving back to the community by doing what you do best and then monetizing the youtube video so you can keep doing that is genius. On top of that, no pun intended, all the neighbors around the houses they fix see their work and are more likely to reach out when they need a roof. Same thing goes for those lawn mowing channels.

Those young homeowners were honestly blown away by what you and your brothers did for them. It is life changing. I recently had my roof replaced and it's an expense that is even harder for a couple just getting going to be able to swallow. Now they're ahead of the game and they can do other projects that need attention and they won't have to worry if the roof is going to leak and ruin the inside of their house. First time I have seen contractors clean up the mess and the end of each work day. Normally all mess is left until end of job and wind blows the mess all over the place. I subscribed to this channel a couple weeks back and I've watched every video from beginning to end and I don't even care about roofing, construction, DIY nor any of that stuff. Obviously what initially drawn me to the channel was the owners' reactions, but now it's mostly just watching these guys working so meticulously.

Having the roof on double strapping is actually extremely energy efficient. By having essentially two roofs you have created an isolation for heat between the house's structure and the roofing material. This will help keep a large amount of heat out of the attic space. In the winter it doesn't provide as much of an insulation effect although it can reduce some of the heat loss to wind (although that's relatively minor). The dead space also provides significant mitigation of the noise that metal roofing can have as the old roof and strapping is acting as sound insulation.
The air channels between the metal roof and the old roof creates a very good draft effect all year round. This will keep the old roof completely dry. Even in condensate or other moisture accumulates the air flow will clean it out. This drafting effect between the roofing material also acts as a large vacuum for the attic vent. As the air escapes at the ridge vent it will produce a small negative pressure area above the attic ridge vent (venturi effect) pulling more hot moist air out of the attic).
The 150g Bilka barrier is also a breathable membrane. It is a three layer product that allows moisture vapor to pass through and disperse with airflow, but it does not allow water to pass through.
The main reason why you cannot install over three layers of shingles is because it the strapping is too disconnected from the roof sheathing. The nails will no longer be able to fully meet their rating and could cause the metal roof peel off the structure. In addition with 3 layers of asphalt you have a lot of material that could collect moisture and the ventilation is no longer sufficient to guarantee it dries out. Technically it would probably be fine but the Stellar Roofing and the Membrane manufacturer will no longer honor their lifetime warranty on the product.
Thanks, that explanation actually answers several of the questions I had after watching a couple of videos from these guys. I never imagined I’d someday want to learn more about roofing, but here I am. 🤷🏻♀️ Lol.
@@sandrawilton6682 yeah they are doing an extremely high quality installation here. The only way that could be slightly better is ripping off the entire roof, replacing all decking, and coating the entire thing with ice and water shield before applying their install. But that is 100% absurd to do unless there is major damage and it was a more extreme weather area.

I'm a computer network engineer as well as a toolaholic (I love tools and also making specialized tools that suits my needs), every weekend I would investigate the interior and exterior of my house, and if anything requires maintenance I would do it and thus spend the weekend repairing that. .. I also love wood-working.
10 years back when I got married even though I have a job it was not sufficient enough for us to buy anything beyond basic needs, thus I ended up making a few new beds, a wardrobe, cabinets, sofas, computer tables, dining table set, top and bottom kitchen cabinets and so on in my free time. . .That's how I honed my skills and this also created a deep interest in me for building, renovations and repairs, I also gain happiness by accomplishing these projects, I also learned a lot about new tools (power and hand tools) available in the market.
What you did here and in other videos really melted my heart. . .I wish you all the best in your future projects and your business endeavors .
