THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I was looking everywhere for a video like this and I kept trying to understand how the measuring line would apply to perspective but all the other videos explained it in words that were hard to understand if you weren't actively taking an architecture course. Loved this.
every videos you made is treasure for us. You are so generous, yours tutorials always made complexity to easy understand. You are the best and my hero.
I’m not an artist but I’m trying to draw a sketch of my bathroom for our reno and this is SUPER helpful and a great tutorial. Thank you…. One question tho. How did you get the diagonals for when you did the hex tiles? Did you make a 2nd vanishing point?
Respected sir, superb explanation you have given for drawing floor tiles in perspective.glad. thank you. But how to continue the design up to the vanishing point? Can you add the rest of the suggestion? A.dhivya lakshmi, cuddalore, tamilnadu,India.
@alphonsodunn: Dear Alphonsso, I'm trying to find a way to draw diamond shape pattern on a tilted roof in perspective. How can i possibly do that? Thank you
When are you going to do a book? You certainly have enough material put together from these videos to do a comprehensive basic drawing book combined with a specialty "drawing in pen and ink" book. You should consider it.
Can anyone explain what he did with the diagonal lines? Or if you're reading this Alphonso, could you explain how to calculate where they should be laid down? Are they converging towards diagonal vanishing points or are they parallel or?
+Bernard Moran The diagonal lines diverge from a vanishing point to the left or right of the center vanishing point. The lines go to the even divisions of the baseline at the bottom of the page. Hope that helped some
Good tips. Thank you. I had always wondered how those Dutch painters had the patience to paint so convincingly tiled floors with patterns.
Thank you for showing me♥, I had a lot of trouble with a flat floor, now it's easy for me☺

Good tutorial. Simplifies the daunting principles of perspective.

that was very helpful so thank you very much! my question is, what if the drawing is in two point perspective?
+lamaa similar rules apply, only in that case the vanishing point will shift to the right or left
Alphonso Dunn so i’ll have to use 2 lines that intersect with the horizontal lines?
+lamaa yup and from that vanishing point
Alphonso Dunn thank you so much! super helpful :) it’s my first year in arts school and this is a part of my descriptive drawing project!
This is perfect when we assume floor is obstructed by wall ,if I want to draw tiles till vanishing point it doesn't work
Thank you, you help me !
Now worries : )
:D
@@alphonsodunn "now" worries lol
Information waiyh measurement
why is his pencil point so long
Tyla Roberts heres why How to sharpen a pencil
Nope - He is guessing - his "tiles" are not square - Look!
