On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you prefer more up close and personal dogfights consider the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battle series and experience intense WWII aerial combat over famous battlefields such as Stalingrad, Moscow, Rhineland and Normandy. Fight in and against Russian, American, German, British warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109, FW-190, Spitfire, Hurricane and rugged IL-2 Sturmovik attack plane. You can also fly legendary SPADS, Fokkers and Camels in WWI dogfights over the trenches of WWI and discover your inner Red Baron! And all of this can be experienced in jaw dropping virtual reality!
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8. - Hry

Just a quick little video to show the spitfire some love, especially during Market Garden (this is a quick mission I made myself it's not made by IL2 so don't expect it to be 100% historically accurate) As always keep in mind that his video was filmed with an Oculus Rift S and All my PC specs are in the video description.
Keep up the nice IL-2 content!
just curious here: what VR headset are you using?
need more please
I hope you reject Nazisme and neo wanna be's
@@rostyloco1 he said oculus rift s
I found your channel last week, I think I have watched almost all if not all the WW1/WW2 content related items. Plus bought IL-2 and Joystick/tracking setup... How dare you be this entertaining.
Prepare to die, a lot.
Welcome to the flight sim community! 😊
@@flyinggoat2581 how inspiring.
Should've gone VR, believe me ! Good luck, fly safe and especially have lots of fun !!! Welcome to the community man 💪
@@AceCmbatguy25 normally, I would say "nah," about VR..
But they've done something that makes this game run really well on VR now. It runs pretty smooth for the most part, MUCH better than DCS. It's the perfect game for VR and a HOTAS
Dude your precision while doing pop shots is AMAZING and the thing is you do it on such difficult angles at high speeds during super close merges quite often. Lettting it rip and running your tracers down your enemy's path is one thing, but leading for less than a second and have that super short burst hitting home just makes my jaw drop every time.Super quality content and Im glad your are uploading multiple videos a day. Keep it coming!
Thank you man very kind of you, I can’t take all the credit tho sometimes I get lucky 😆
@@GrowlingSidewinder dcs vs il2 ? what do you prefer ? I prefer il2 since I am a ww2 guy and I know that dcs has ww2 aircraft but they dont get alot attention compared to the modern stuff so its il2 for me since il2 is focused on ww2 it has all of its attention on ww2 stuff.
@@omerashraf9357 why not both?
@@evensen007 because I am a ww2 guy
@@omerashraf9357 there is plenty to like in DCS for WW2. Custom campaigns are fun.
That fiendish laugh, "That's a nice warm fire." Mr. Sidewinder, you are cold blooded!
Sidewinder = snek
Snek = coolbluded
Surely Giggling Sidewinder would be a more suitable sobriquet given the amount of chuckling in every video.
Great showing as always.
Imagine that being coded into your aircraft. That would be even more scary. Instead of a growl just a subtle "Heh he he he he....".
@@oskar6661 Guffaw. He's a manly man sigma. Guffaw is quite apropos.
@@debbiestimac5175 I'm a big fan of his work but there's nothing manly about playing video games if was doing it for real or making vids about lion wrestling I'd agree! 😉😂👍
@@jameshutchinson6273 So you are telling a woman what she should think is manly? Good luck with that, considering active duty aircrew spend tons of time in the sim and even on retail ones like DCS on their down time on alert. Training is manly AF.
More Spitfire content? Good enough for me! I like how surprised you were when the first 110 burst into flames on you.
My great grandfather flew the spitfire and was awarded the Victoria cross for saving someone’s life, such an awesome plane 🇬🇧
Was your Great Grandfather James Nicholson..?
@@JBils41 have you got his story?
you better make 2 morons in a apache once it comes out
No doubt my dude
Love the IL-2 content. I no longer fly online but I still enjoy watching. I played back in the beginning days of Janes WWII Fighters and wow, how far things have progressed.
Smashed that 'Like' button, and yep, blowing up Nazi's does get the blood pumping, turning that 110 back into it's component parts was awesome 👏 bravo 👍😉
Spitfire turn rate + 109 energy capabilities = One OP aircraft. Love it.
I saw a MK XIV land and taxi in for the Reno air races this year… that engine sounded so beautiful.
This man having too much fun making these videos I love it haha keep up the good work man !!
Fantastic! So lucky to come late to the party and be able to binge watch all these dogfights!
love the recent il-2 content, keep it up !!!
You should open up a small gas can and leave it nearby when you play in VR for a truly immersive experience.
Pshh, go a step further and find a riding lawnmower as your gaming seat
I just wanted to say thank you so much for this awesome content and especially the ww1 and ww2 related videos. Keep it up you are amazing: ur videos are entertaining, you upload every day, you even created your own server for the community.... Just thank you and keep going! The instance i get to buy a new setup when gpu prices are at least reasonable ill get vr and or head tracking and join u guys there
Great VID! I ended up jumping on IL-2 + Virtual Reality with my Vive Pro and it looks FAAAANTASTIC !!
The adrenaline to feel literally inside the planes is PRICELESS. Cheers !
I am now getting in to the IL-2 and VR, can you let me know which IL2 battles are compatible with VR?
Love the IL-2 content! Keep it up!
I just never get tired of this!
I used to play Warbirds then later on Aces High when that came out. Gave it up about 10 or so years ago. Your videos are really giving me the urge to drop a bunch of money on a PC and get back into it. I forgot how much I missed the fight.
Love the WWII content Mr. Snek!! Keep it coming Boss!!
Loving the IL- 2 series...I fly in VR too with a G2 and it is so much more "real" than with Trac IR ...and I feel a lot of love for the Spit...
I suspect you are having way more fun in the WW2 battles than with missiles!
spent 200$ on DCS durring the last sale, got IL-2 cause it was also on sale for 8 bucks, and i think i like il-2 more. i probably should have just got il-2 and saved the rest for a vr headset.
Well yeah it's always more fun to get up close and personal.
The RAF used Tally-Ho as a way to signal an attack. Saying Tally-Ho is way more fun than saying Fox 2.
@@purplepenguin43 I did the same, but already already had a headset. Both fulfill different itches.
Totally addicted. If a day goes by without one of these I start to freak.
I love your WW1/WW2 content! Much more entertaining than modern aircraft, IMO.
Roasting chestnuts by the nice warm 🔥...another great flight...you Erich Hartmann,d those guys...lucky you survived the debris zipping past your super m spit. Can't get enough of that sugar crisp... Keep em coming GS ...I love flying on my phone...
Amazing stuff, we need more!
Great to see a Spitfire in action.
I always appreciate the dark humour after you shoot down a plane and see it going down in flames.
Another great video! I'd be really interested in seeing some content on the F-35. I remember you dogfighting against it, but nothing else came up in a search of your videos. Perhaps a BVR engagement or mission? It could also be really cool to see a stealth fighter working as a spotter for an F-15 against a much larger force.
Good show "Earl Grey" Sidewinder! Good show indeed! We shall smoke your name into the bar ceiling and raise a pint to your victories!!!
Great landing too, LSO grade : Pass
Can anyone else confirm the zippo lighter smoked names and operational dates in the ceiling ritual, for WWII crews or am I alone in knowing of the tradition?
Outstanding video and presentation.
Love the Mk XIV, good show! For added context, could you mention the type of mission within the campaign for each sortie (i.e. railway station attack, troops cover, etc.)?
Finally in an allied aircraft. Thank you.
Loving the WW2 stuff please keep'em coming.
Nice video, love the Hurricane too.
nicely done!
7:17 That is a spectacular long distance shot pulling lead, just first class gunnery on that shot.
Making it look easy - again. Skills showing, loving WWII. And to think I just bought TRackIR... !
Love the VR stuff!
That landing was mint!
I love taking the Tempest out because of the quick work you can make with those 4x20mm cannons.
You are the greatest pilot man!!
These vids are sooo entertaining to watch
Every time I hear your intro, I also hear the other part lol. The: "I cant! I dont got a fucking tone!"
Who actually down votes these vids? This is as good as it gets. Your skill is amazing and your commentary is always on point. I’ve learned a ton watching these.
You appear to be the best Fighter Pilot I have found so far online.
Far too kind of an assessment
For anyone who thinks his constant mentioning of VR maybe paid plug for Oculus, let me confirm what he is saying. I only have PlayStation VR, which is pretty basic compared to Oculus, and I can tell you from playing Star Wars squadrons, the VR headset is only beaten by really flying; I'm a former pilot.
I wish oculus was paying me lol
@@GrowlingSidewinder Any chance we're going to see you give the Varjo Aero a try? I guess you could score a loaner from them quite easily, considering your subscriber base.
I have really enjoyed all this vintage aircraft dog-fighting! I was wondering if you could do some Pacific front fighting with the F4U Corsair? My fave WWII plane!
2x Me-110s, 2xFw190s (A-9s?) and one Bf109.... ACE IN A DAY!!! (Again... ;) )
Great job and thanks for giving me a reason to deplete my bank account even more... as if I needed another expensive hobby!
Love the WW2 content brother, though I would love to see more DCS ;) Keep up the good work! Quick question, which VR headset are you using? Thinking of picking one up for myself.
GS at the right side of the History this time.
BRILLIANT SCRAP BUDDY... love the flying it goes to show that the British spitfire was one of the best aircraft of WW 2 ...the only thing that let it down was the lack of range...... again an awesome bit of flying 🍺😊👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🌏🌍🌎🇺🇸🇷🇺
nice.liking the il-2 content
That 110 just shook hands with it's shadow...:)
Luv it!
Yeah, go the Spit! That thing can just turn all day!
I don't know what content is available but I'd love to see the Japanese aircraft. N1K, Ki-84, A6M, etc. Thanks for all the great content!
Spitfire, such a beautiful bird!
Awesome video as always
One question though, when using VR how do you use your hotkeys? you can´t see the keyboard right?
I knew of this sim for PC, on the Q2 it's gonna be awesome!
Your vids are awesome.
If you like the Spitfire you should watch the 1943 movie of the same name with Leslie Howard. Very cool how the Spit came about...
When it comes to WW2 air combat, Growling Sidewinder becomes an ace in a day
Keep it up!
Good 'ol Spitty gets the job done again.
Had 8 Family members In WWII 2 infantry that came off the Higgins 1 in 101st Airborne. The other five I’ll have to check they all lived unwounded👍🏻
Is this why you started releasing longer videos? It's very good
Great vid. Keep the WW2 vids coming please!
True legend
The Griffon 🥺
Great stuff! It'd be cool to see a bubble top Spitfire XVI. We've got one at the RNZAF museum, used to be the gate guardian for Christchurch airport. It's one good looking machine!
So you mean the Spit there has gone (eeck) or that it's been replaced by another?
@@man_vs_life It's been replaced by a fiber glass replica. That got burnt down by a protester, so had to be replaced! Rest assured, the original gate guardian has been restored and is safe in the museum. I even got to play in it! Man, there's nothing to a Spitfire cockpit!
@@20mmGamer "That got burnt down by a protester". A protestor whose very freedom today is due to those that flew and died(!) in what that represented. What's next, kick over their gravestones? Pretty damn sad.
@@sbg911 It is, but, ironically, it's also what they were fighting for.
@@20mmGamer I see the irony, but I doubt if any of them could see the future, they'd think that their deaths were worth it so some loser can commit vandalism. Its too often forgotten for every person claiming an 'act' like this is a demonstration of a free society, someone else's freedom is getting impinged by that very same act...ask the poor sods who had to cleanup and fix the protest aftermath
Man's good with any aircraft
Hey GS, would love to see some ww2 duels. Just 1v1 of iconic aircraft duking it out. Also, since fox2s are out of the fight I'm really interested how the disengage/re-engage tactics come into play. Maybe it's not all in the turning ability of the aircraft. Fw190 is an aircraft I would love to see you fly.
Great videos. Subbed. 🇬🇧👍🇬🇧🇨🇦
Quick question: in each video intro, the electronic sound (the 'growl' ) is that an electronic warfare alarm? As would hear in (80s?) planes? Am sure i have heard it in 80s NY style hip hop. Would be interested to know the origin. The world is an interesting place!
@@Surv1ve_Thrive I believe the intro is a cockpit recording from an US F-14 shooting sown a Libyan MIG over Tobruk. The affects sound, not sure....maybe from DCS when you get pwnd by a missile lol
You’ve redeemed yourself by fighting for the allies this time. ;)
I don't know if the PZL P-11 is in any of the simulators but I think you would love flying it against a BF-109
A Spitfire? Albert would be so disappointed
Yey, nice 3 point landing
Getting better, slowly.
Love the WW2 stuff
Well this the earliest I’ve ever been to a video. Lol
As much as I like the Spitfire (XIV or other) I actually prefer seeing a variety of planes being flown. What's more, I actually prefer the less top tier planes because you can't rely on the advantages that your aircraft gives you and you need superior pilot skills to compensate, which leads to more interesting videos (and gameplay). Squashing bugs who can't really touch you, while satisfying, has less appeal than a win you really had to fight for.
In case you're looking for planes to fly: I'd love to see some P-38 and some FW 190 (any). For an interesting challenge, I'd particularly like to see a FW 190 A3 encountering some Yak-1b's.
great video. how about something Centaurus powered?
Hey GS! Get Longshot to do a Hawker Typhoon Vs Eurofighter Typhoon with you...Guns only, of course 👌👍
the joy of the kill
Question Growling: I have BP so i got the IX, do you feel the mk14 is very meta-ish? is necesary? or the mk9 can deal prety with the germans?
I want to purchase the teardrop when it comes out but dunno if its a "lot of difference" (yes I know Griffons where beast at high alt, but i ment at low, where normaly u will fight with a mk9)
cheers.
PD: nice video and awesome pilotage!
Cool
It's interesting to me is how simple this looks when you do it, When it's not simple at all! the concept is simple but not the execution!
So the Spit can kill too / nice work.
Show us the strength and weaknesses of the FW-190
I’d love to see how you do in a de Havilland Mosquito at some point
4:45 Wishes he had cannons
*Proceeds to turn the enemy aircraft into an exploding fireball*
The Mark XIV was fitted with 2 x 20mm Hispano cannon…
Love that grilled Swiss cheese of a 110!
Shame they bring any Me410 to the party, which were equipping some of the zerstoerergruppen at the time. Twin DB603 have a very strong climb and can do vertical well, even if the big twin can't turn so good. They were rated like 1720hp or something like that but that's at like 6200 metres throttle altitude so never short on horsepower and it's all one blower gear so it doesn't have the power loss step at 3500-4500 for a gearchange/second-stage that pretty much anything other than a Daimler motor has. Monster engines. When they put them inline-twin for the Do335 it made the fastest piston engine fighter ever built and that had like 4x MG151 and 1x MK103 standard armament all on the centreline so totally devastating armament, the MK103 had so much high pressure recoil they tried to mount it in the DB605 for the 109K4 originally but it shook the engine assembly off its mounts at the firewall so the only motorkanone fitment with enough raw mass to soak it up without shaking apart was the DB603, hence the K4 got stuck with the low pressure MK108 and only the Ta152C3 and Do335 got the MK103 in a motorkanone due to DB603 fitment. The ballistics of the MK103 3cm cannon was dead flat to 900 metres so there was no vertical convergence gun tooling for the MG like you had to with the MK108 3cm, which converged upwards through the sight at 150 metres and downwards at 350 metres.
Griffon MkXIV was my favourite back in the 1946-SASmod days, which was sort of the platform the current Great Battles was built on. Beast of a plane.
The mod Erla-G10 was awesome too. Like a K4 only lighter. Fastest of the 109s, level acceleration to 710-720 at like 5000 metres, it was just about the fastest thing in the sky at combat height, everything any faster had to get much higher, so it was king.
GS - better to have cannon
Gun - Hold my shell !!
Please more IL-2 especially XIV's!
Your a absolute death machine bro 😂🤪👍👊🏼
I'm really curious what you set your convergence at in something like the Spitfire? You do a lot of great mid range deflection shooting, yet still place excellent shots up close!
thanks man, I have it set at 250
WHATS UP MY DUDES, ??? Cmon gs
What was it that Adolf Galland said about the Spitfire Mk. XIV? Something like, "The best thing about the Spitfire Mk. XIV was that there were not very many of them."
