Dai yoshihara, my teacher my master, 17 years been watching him, still no clue why he isn’t worlds best , I don’t agree odi is the best chaser Dai would be and the amount of pressure he can on opponents is intense and just never understand how formula d scoring system works always seems rigged.
I loved Dai's s13 from back in 2012

Odi’s entries were insane! And while I would still give him the win in this event myself, I can’t help but feel he was a little tough in his critique of the other drivers which helped to lower their scores a bit

The judging system is more subjective even than in Winter Drift Battle though.

I second that, with Denofa too. They probably didn't get invited because 3 wheeling backies would have been seen as cheating haha. Denofa would have destroyed this though, did you see his backie mid competition in Texas? Can't think what he would have been like in a mini comp dedicated to backies

Damn the comments on this are really harsh. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who took part in this event and to the editing team for doing their thing too. It's a shame more drivers didn't get invited, but I guess it's cause of social distancing etc. Keep providing the videos though

Imagine mad mike in this with his mx5👀
His MX5 isn't in comp form anymore and makes about 1/4 of the power it did when he was in FD. Sad times, but it's what the fans wanted. His NZ RX7 is still the same though and so is his Japan based RX7 too.

@@gerritfaalogo9616 Yeah that seems to be the only car he uses for competition nowadays. All of the other cars he has, he uses them for demo's or just to hoon with. Despite being an FDJ champion I don't think he could beat Deane in competition. I don't doubt his skill, but the thing is Mike's style isn't that suited for comp driving, which is really sad. He's one of the few drivers that keeps the spirit of drifting alive which is awesome and amazing, but that also means he takes bigger risks in competition for those extra brownie points.
Deane isn't a risk taker like that and is known for being incredibly consistent. He's arguably the best drifter in the world right now, but can be sometimes really boring to watch simply because he's so consistent and is like a machine. His competition driving style isn't fun, but that allows him to win.
Actually they both had a chance to face each other head to head in competition at the start of this year before lockdown. There was a round in Oman where MM brought his Japan RX7 and Deane brought his S14. It was really shaping up to look like a Deane vs MM final battle too, until Mike threw it away either in the Top8 or Top4 because he went for those extra style points and over-rotated in his lead run.
MM is in the same category as Chelsea Denofa, Justin Pawlak, Ryan Litteral, Forrest Wang, Naoki Nakamura, Daigo Saito and Katsuhiro Ueo where they all keep the excitement of drifting alive by going balls to the walls no fucks given with the most gangsta style, but unfortunately that means most of them (with the exception of Daigo and MM) will never win a championship because they're not consistent enough. Do you know how many 2nd place finishes MM has had in his career? Loads. He came 2nd in the championship twice in a row in D1NZ each time only only beaten by Gaz Whiter because Gaz is like the James Deane of NZ and drives boring, but consistent. Mike really had to change his mentality and driving style to win the FDJ championship.
MM vs Deane would be one hell of a battle, but sadly I think Deane would win 99% of the time due to consistency.
both too serious and completely rushed.. look at the scores 85 50 80, result won't mean anything.. also need a much better camera angle so we can get a good look at their initiation. better next time hopefully

@@Dylan-wg6mt bruh.....i get that but even then this is just ridiculous. They have this whole thing setup for really nothing. The drag race is kind of fucked up and the highest hp and torque car will win but even then they talk so much and don't roll clips of them drifting. Its annoying.

You barely see anything while most of it is just talking. Its nice for them but not really for me. And thanks for calling someone immature. Dude the whole point of this competition is to go balls to the walls and it's part of what makes drifting exciting. If you don't love cars going flat out balls to the walls throwing backies and bouncing off the limiter in a plume of smoke then you're not much of a drifting fan
