Suggestion for your safety: stop making the face cut so deep and the backcut needs to be 2in above horizontal facecut. Then move back from tree at 45 so if it kicks back you don't get hurt

It's really coming along! It's sad to see all those large sections of trees go to waste in a fire though! Stack it, let it dry til later, then cut and split it or save it for milling. It's just my thoughts! Mother earth's resources are not endless! ✌️

Wasting a lot of good lumber burning those logs.. Even in the round they make great raised garden beds and other projects. You're just starting out.. Don't waste them.
We have lots of wood we can use for such things. No worries.

Hi Mike. Do you plan on saving some of those bigger logs to take to the saw mill to make boards? You'll need boards for the shouse and the other half when you get it. Just a suggestion. It'll be cheaper if you will it yourself. Your friend from the Heartland. Bonnie. 💕
Excellent point, I cringed seeing him waste that wood. Also those logs, even in the round using the Butt and Pass method, very simple as well can create any structure from dog houses to cabins, it will last longer than lumber and it's free, they also make great raised beds for gardening. Once down, cut the logs into sizable lengths and stack them for future use, (they will last years) Just don't waste it. If you don't need it or want it, others will, sell them, barter them or give it away. People would love to have them. I have been in this game for over 5 decades, those trees can be put to better use than creating smoke. The chainsaw is one of the most important and dangerous tools on any homestead. treat it with respect and learn how to use it with proper safety gear.

I used this tutorial when cutting trees with power lines on either side. It puts the tree exactly where you want it and eliminates the possibility of the deadly barber chair.

Why don't you wear any protect gear when using your chainsaw, I've see a chain snap and it made a mess of the user gear, luck he was wearing it.

I'm sorry Micheal, I mean no disrespect but you need to think ahead more.
1. Too much logs & junk around where you are cutting ( no safe retreat if it didn't go as you wanted without tripping over things. Clear your space.
2. You were felling right toward Uber. You got lucky with the first tree. Never hve item or people in the direcation you are wanting trees to fall
3. You don't look out when tree falls. Need to be out of the way, even if you think you know where it's going. It can jump back or sideways and Kill or hurt you .
I really like you Mike but please be more careful, You don't want to leave you poor family without you.
Fast is NEVER safe. Go slow. Please know this is advise because I care. Not being hateful or hurtful.
Excellent points. Running over debris with a chain that is ready to spin is a disaster especially for someone prone to falling. Kick the chain brake when the cut is done. Every quality saw have sight guides, lines you point in the direction for the tree to fall, use them, they are there for a reason.
Great job, Mike, on dropping the trees. One question: How are you going to get rid of all the stumps? Take care and be careful.

I love your video's. Although, it's hard to watch the logs just be burnt without making uses for them. :( Even cedar and pine can be cut for fire wood, fence posts, raised beds etc. The brush is fine and the ash would be great in flower and garden beds. Maybe I should look at it like that... Please excuse me, I say what I say with the utmost respect and kindness....Hubby and I are older and try not to waste a shred of anything. Both of our parents were WWII and great depression survivors. We taught our kids to be frugal and now the grands. I was thinking the same thing. David has Gary's (SLR) sawmill up there they could use those logs for the inside build of the tiny house. I was also raised to never borrow something you can't replace.
@@wandaking4229 At mine and hubbys age. We learned decades ago to not lend anything and not borrow anything. What ever is needed we go with it and bring it home ourselves. We make do with what we have or find another use.

I think if they need wood for winter there’s plenty more trees. They live in a camper and the boys area has a heater that runs on propane

When a tree is hung up and the butt is on the ground, use a long log pole, just in front of the butt and with a rowing motion walk the butt back wards, once the tree starts to go, let go of the pole. It the way I was taught here in the UK.
