    Moving to Ohio saved me in absolutely every way. I escaped from a highly toxic and increasingly dangerous experience of Life when I had lived in Florida. I am now able to dwell in Peace with access to excellent Healthcare for my disability, proximal to the best Medicare facility in the world and have a much lower cost of living. Most importantly, I am far, far away from my dysfunctional relatives. 😢 I am so grateful for the kindness I have received from the people of Ohio. I came here all alone, unsupported, and not knowing a Soul. I was able to buy a Home, outright, in Cash 💸 (by the Grace of God) in a lovely suburb called Boardman. I was at the end of my rope before I came to Ohio. This state is everything I needed in Life. Everything.

      @Breezy Ray well.. home of some of the best amusement parks. Rock n roll HOF. NFL HOF. Beach in the summertime. Great boating, fishing, and some of the best deer hunting. Great food and pizza. Tons of outdoor activities. That's just a few. Remember. You can do anything you want in Ohio as any other state for the most part. The only thing that's different is the weather. But the weather isn't something to do. And I guarantee you that if you aren't from Ohio, and you go to visit, you'll love the people and will feel like it's your home.

    One thing you might could have mentioned, is that the sun in Ohio is not as bright as it is in the south. The sun in Ohio is not nearly as hot and intense as it is in the south. This is the first thing I notice, when I leave Texas and go north. You can be comfortable, outside in the sun in Ohio, where you can't stand it in the southern states.

    Another thing people should know about winters in Ohio - yes it snows here, but most towns are well equipped and prepared for heavy snows. Most of the time they're able to clear the main roads by most people's morning commutes. I'd rather get 5 inches of snow that gets cleaned up than be somewhere like Georgia or the Carolinas where an inch can shut down the whole state

    • @Jerry-jg1uc
      @Jerry-jg1uc Před rokem +1

      Yes it snows in Ohio, but he was talking about the Cincinnati area. What he didn't tell you is there is a big difference in winter from northern Ohio to southern Ohio. I moved from the Toledo area to Cincinnati about 20 years ago, everyone was like "oh we get serious winters here". They have no idea about winters, they (usually) get around 5-7 inches of snow a year. Where around Toledo area gets around 2-3 ft a year, Cleveland is even more. And Cincinnati area gets 0 degree weather a week maybe 2 weeks a year and up north (Toledo, Cleveland) its closer to a month. So if you like winter but don't want to be a shut in the whole winter Cincinnati is the way to go.

      Ok. Tgat is so incorrect. Ohio does a sh@tty job at clearing roads. The only thing I can add is for those coming to Ohio unlike most states in Ohio the cities have a income tax. You pay income tax to the city you live in and the city you work in besides state income tax. A odd tax is if you go into a restaurant to eat you have a sit down tax but if you go thru the drive thru there's no tax. Thought houses are cheaper in Ohio than most of the country the property tax is a little on the high side. Social Security is not taxed but other retirement income is partially taxed keep that in mind when you have to do required minimum distributions (aka RMD's). Crime in all of Ohio's cities is very high. Enough with the bad things about Ohio there are a lot of good things. I struggled with leaving Ohio and really miss it. I don't think I will ever have the same feeling of joy I always had when I saw the welcome to Ohio sign after a long road trip.

Its getting really difficult to find a home for sale as they usually sell by word of mouth. Same with renting. Prices are going up also, but still fairly affordable. Schools are highly rated, and modern. The downtown has gone through a revilization and has many good restaurants, and bars. Home of the largest Amish settlement in the USA is just south of Wooster. Also the city is only about an hour away from Cleveland and one and a half hours away from Columbus. Great place, super friendly people. Nice job you did by the way, thanks.

    Hey Eric, sportwise mention to people who love College basketball that Xavier is in Cincinnati and you can take trips to Lexington, Louisville, Indy, and Columbus….. also Columbus has a pro hockey team in the NHL. And Ohio State of course better then cinci…. I mean you are missing out with college sports I believe Indy held championship final 4 very recently and it’s closer to see blue jackets from Cinci then it is to go to Philadelphia from North Jersey(where I am) since I like to see Phillies or Flyers which is 1 hour 40 something minutes away….
    Great channel btw, was looking up west coast states for to long and got fed up with prices and politics… after looking up Michigan because of a friend I decided to look at Midwest for cost and I think Cincinnati and Lexington are only 2 areas I really enjoy :) but Cinci is easily best and I’m even calling it a “better version of Pittsburgh” I will look into apartments and jobs for sure, much love from the northeast!

Plus the local newspapers are all left-wing propaganda rags. There are many areas to the southwest of Cleveland that are low-crime and low-cost when it comes to housing. Just make sure that you're really ready for a drastic change in climate from sunny San Diego. Cheers.

    I was born in Ohio and lived near Cleveland and later near family in Portsmouth. When I was 24 years old I fled the state and made a great life in Alabama. I worked there until retirement in which I moved to Florida but I am only 3 miles from the Alabama state line. The northern half of Ohio is one of the coldest states anywhere, winter is long and there are no mountains to ski on... Property taxes are among the highest in the US and even city taxes on property. The Ohio River Valley is pretty but all those counties are the poorest in the state. I'm sort of glad people want to move to Ohio because we don't want to see our way of life change in the deep south and not like Ohio.

    What is Ohio like if you are living on disability, over 55 years of age but not 60, and need to find HUD housing.? I am not looking for section 8. Right now I am living in New York in our nightmare apartment building upstate. I have been doing a lot of research and found that the cost of living is much lower in Ohio. I love Washington but I don’t quite think it would work for my budget. Right now I pay 30% of my income and get an allowance for utilities so a 500 square-foot one bedroom one bath apartment is $240 a month. Also I am finding that her apartments are usually located in some of the worst areas in each state. But I also know that some people have small rentals that accept HUD. It is not hard for them to become HUD landlords. HUD pays them directly each month and I pay the 30% remainder. The only thing is that the landlord would need to be responsible obviously for repairs and any landscaping. I am very quiet and live with my one cat and one rabbit. My husband recently committed suicide so that is another reason I would like to get a new start. Safety is another concern. As a realtor do you ever work with people who are willing to rent what are considered tiny houses or small apartments, converted garage, or anything in that category? If you read this post please hit me back I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much and I love your video!

If you move to places like Middletown Ohio … well nothing there at all unless you don’t mind driving to Columbus for civilization. Now you have to love snow and ice storms If you move to Ohio. You have to not mind never seeing the sun. Ever. It’s always cloudy , rainy or snowing. Summer is mild. The summers are decent in Ohio but you might get two months of some sunny days but I would say 10 months of the year is Cloudy. However , housing is affordable , tons of hiking , sports , museums etc. tons to do. I’m ready to move away though. I need sun. I’m getting depressed on this cloudy depressing weather. I had thought that I could sell my house here and buy a house outright in Cincy. However, I would still be left with a sizable monthly cost from taxes and insurance. Taxes seemed high here because of how much the valuation has changed in the past ~8 years, but Denver has really low property taxes (appx as much below the national average as Cincy is over).

      Minimum wage is $9.30. Health insurance premiums will vary based on your employer. The last 2 jobs for me, for family coverage, was around $800-900 (per month) out of my paycheck, that is with a $10K family deductible and 20% co-insurance with an out of pocket of over $20K (family). If you want better coverage it will be more than that. If you need single coverage it will be less.
      Problem I have seen many run into is some employers (that don't want to have to pay for benefits for their employees) will only work you just enough hours to be considered part time.
      Also consider that politics in Ohio are very divided right now and the new concealed carry gun law just went into place this week.
