"I don't know if that makes sense", says Danya, the only GM who can convey the true beauty of chess educationally to a beginner like me. Thanks for your content Danya!
I love Daniels videos and I watch every single video. But I’m an ~800 rated player and I don’t know how to get better. I’m definitely a beginner and I see a lot of the moves DN is looking for before he calls them but I can’t seem to ever play them when I’m in a game
@@macaronipanda9516 Also he had probably already resigned himself to resignation after blundering the knight earlier. Might as well go down in style lol... especially since he was playing a teenage up and comer
What I love about your CZcams videos is that even though they're clipped from Twitch, you don't force us to have to look at the chat by adding it to your vids and you don't get distracted by the chat and start going off on a tangent in response to some random thing said. Even your interactions with twitch chat are cherry picked to address questions the CZcams audience might have. So many chess "content creators" that upload twitch clips don't realize how much of a turn off any of the above is for folks like us who aren't into live streams or into people who refer to "chat" as an actual entity for that matter. Thanks Daniel, keep up the good work
Thank you danya, i hope you realize how genuinely helpful your content is. You are one of the greatest tutors/lecturers i've had the pleasure of viewing and i'm in a master's program for engineering. Watching you discuss chess is akin to viewing a Feynman lecture.
Hey Daniel, I’ve been watching your videos for a few weeks now and they have been some of the only games by GM’s that actually makes sense to me. You’re able to portray a lot of great tactics in very simple ways for normal folks like me. Just wanted to say I appreciate your videos and your Chess. Thanks!
I tried playing after a 10 hour shift today and it did not go to well to say the least but still enjoying these videos just as much as when it all started with Charlie.
I like how you're starting to use the different colors that they offer for highlighting. I do believe that they use red and green to highlight move squares, and then the blue is to highlight the pieces. however you can obviously use the colors however you want.
I mean, it makes sense that a pinned piece still defends other pieces from the opponent's king. if you could actually play to capture the king, as soon as your opponent's king captures your piece, the defender would capture the king. it doesn't matter if your king could be captured the move after; you got your opponent's king first
So many stories about people being upset about losing because they are competitive. It is great to hear a story about a player who blunders a piece and then later showing a great sense of humor on the last move in a lost game.
This is great! I encounter b6 a lot after 1. e4, so it will be cool to watch how our favorite GM Danya responds. I typically just grab the center with d4, develop knights, but there's probably a better way to punish black. Looking forward to tonights games!
Don't mean to nit-pick.. but I think Napoleon notoriously led his troops on the frontline. One of the reasons he was so popular amongst the troops apparently. Your content is always great though lol and I get the analogy
It's not an extra rule that a pinned piece still defends another friendly piece (from the enemy king.) There's just one relevant rule here: you're not allowed to hang your king in one move. The rook is pinned because moving it away would hang the white king; the queen can't be taken in that checkmate because it would hang the black king.
I discover something interesthing. Whenever danya play against any opening. I do study the enemys opening theory, like in this game "owen" now i really know where is the mistake 😂 so we learn two opening in one video
My brain wasn’t even seeing the X-ray of the rook for the knight sacrifice, all I saw was death for the knight and my brain just went full 100 elo planning
I'm a bit scared, after just a dozen of these lessons I reached 90% accuracy on 1 of approx. 10 online games. I keep my rating stable in the neighborhood of 1100-1200, sort of sacrificed it to get more risk and fun in a game, and kind of developed chess online addiction. It takes a lot of time that could probably be better spent doing other activities.
There is almost no way neither of them notices. GMs can play an entire match without looking at the board. But if you make an illegal move you lose on the spot. Eric Rosen has a pretty funny story about sacrificing his queen, thinking he will win material with a forking the king and the queen after his opponent takes, ony to realize one moment later that is knight is pinned. :D
at the 1:39 mark, why not go a3 (before going Bd3) ? this would inhibit black from going Bb4, thus relieving the pressure on the knight, and keeping the pawn on e4 defended
This 1602 rated guy is so good that I feel ashamed for my play at my rating ( which is around the same as his ) but I probably can’t find any of the moves he found here…
Always a little dissapointing to be a player of the Owen's like myself and come here to see a relativley solid game from both sides where we get to some theoretical position and then see someone butcher their opening like that, but its at least instructive on how to attack this kind of loosey goosey stuff from black with the system!

The phrase "let me remember the theory" makes me scared
Tbh there aren't many phrases more bone-chilling than if you could hear your opponent say that...

This is such a great series. I'm learning A LOT watching them and they're pretty enjoyable too. Thanks Daniel.
Judit Polgar is a perfect example of a player who transforms an attack into material advantage.

Although this series is now way above my pay grade chess-wise GM Danya’s clear explanations and commentary still make it worthwhile 🙏
I've been binge playing nimso-larsen and owens lately, the timing on these videos is insane. Daniel really is a prophet.

there's absolutely wrong with b6, as this opponent shows very well... Just have to be correct. Don't expect to be able to punish it.

Owen defense is the black version of nimzo lassen attack, for which he advocated in a previous episode
Not quite
Also he played Larsen’s opening, Nimzowitsch played the 1. Nf3 version which is quite different
