Turning the Tables has been my favourite CZcams channel as of late, but as a white dude myself, there’s something special about seeing the way you two interact with the music that is so defined by the black experience in America. There’s a cultural perspective and an understanding of the art that doesn’t resonate with someone like myself in the same way, and these videos provide a glimpse into that.

I think what pac meant by not seeing any loud mouth 30 year olds is the radical flame that is present in a lot of the youth and how that flame dies for alot of us when you become older and fall into a more “what can you do” “that’s just life” style of mindset. I think it’s more so a criticism on the abandonment/neglect of collectivism because when you have an individualist mindset the only reasonable conclusion to that radicalism is futitlity and subsequently neutering.

Kendrick is an artist whose brilliance transcends rap and music. He delivers a profound social commentary, a thought-provoking trap. With unparalleled depth, he explores our very core, questioning our values, highlighting what it means to be human. In his musical tapestry, wordplay, innuendos and metaphors are constantly intertwined, revealing gems of philosophical beauty, an intellectual goldmine. Each album is a journey of discovery, forcing us to confront our truths and unveiling a different view. The Blacker The Berry and How Much A Dollar Really Cost are perfect examples in this album, with the former being my favourite, the one word end to the song is painfully true, as your dad called it “the elephant in the room”. For years I have listened almost exclusively to Kendrick’s songs, mesmerised by his talent and unable to settle for less, for it is impossible to find anyone close. He is a generational icon, unmatched and revered but also hated by some because the truths he spouts hurts those who refuse to accept the devastating consequences of the gangster lifestyle of our communities that is responsible for black on black deaths, drugs, hoes and broken families. Yet his music impacts beyond our boundaries, touching souls, sparking conversations (like Mother I Sober, Sing About Me, I Am Dying Of Thirst, The Heart Part 5, Auntie Diaries, Family Ties and so much more), while at the same time causing us to believe and take pride in our ancestry. His music is full of wisdom, a guiding voice, urging us to ponder what truly holds significance in our quest for happiness. His music is a testament to the power of art in shaping minds and souls, and by extension, our communities. Kendrick Lamar is a cultural, national and global treasure whose music will forever roll. Thank you guys for your reaction videos. It is a pleasure to see father and son communicating so freely, with knowledge being passed on and shared between generations. I applaud and envy your relationship and long may it continue. 👍🏿🙏🏿

These reactions really help to bring more understanding to these albums. I recently watched the Tupac interview with Ed Gordon where he discussed people saying he's being pimped by the music industry. And Tupac responds, everybody gets pimped in some way but it's about how long you get pimped. Then he says something like (not word for word) "who is really getting pimped. It's these white kids that are buying the albums and they listen to the music. What I write in those albums those white kids are doing and they come home and say those things to their parents. Im writing their future. So who is really getting pimped?" I can see how this album correlates with that message now and how Kendrick was probably inspired by that interview.

I’ve never really listened to rap, here the radio basically plays the same pop songs every day but during Covid I wouldn’t leave my house often so I had to find my own type of music and create new playlists. Anyways, all that to say that I only discovered TPAB yesterday 🤦‍♀️ I know I know, and it was sooooo gooood. Just the mood and listening to the lyrics and understanding things I didn’t know. I literally baked cupcakes and brought them outside so they could cool down but I didn’t want squirrels to eat them so I babysat them and just listened to the whole album. Anyways, this was amazing.
