I was one of those people that said oh it won't happen to me I got the PayPal Debit card and used it for direct deposit at a temp job worked in 2018 I was gonna use it to buy a car a kid u not soon as it reached 1200 they locked my account for fraud and every single dollar was directed deposit from my job they don't care if you have bills to pay.

PayPal and eBay’s relationship has ended. Sellers are getting direct payouts to their bank accounts now and overall the amount of money in PayPal has gone down significantly as that was a HUGE account. And yes PayPal likely does leverage the standing money in these accounts like a bank. So I’m sure you’re not the only one having this problem Steve. This is corrupt BS in all likelihood.

Paypal also supported a CLEAR scammer at my work. Basically, we sent a MacBook. They changed their mind, didnt want it. We refused because we don't have to accept it. They then opened it and said wrong model. We sent them the right model but they are saying we didn't. They filed paypal dispute and paypal said to return the item back to seller. The scammer sent back an empty macbook box that was re-shrink wrapped. Paypal went to the buyers favour and refunded them because tracking says delivered. YEAH. AN EMPTY BOX. Even after we got legal proof and documentation they still refunded. And then after they refunded they said they are investigating. Bull shit... I've seen similar statue scammers get away with things through paypal too.
That's why when people ask to cancel an order, you should do it. You open yourself up to so many issues if you send someone something they don't want. And why wouldn't you prefer to sell to someone who actually wants it?

Ask for proof of shipping and check the shipped weight versus your shipped weight on your proof of postage. You will see their parcel was sent light, hence no item inside. There is your proof to show to paypal.

I strongly suggest using your state ID to verify/confirm your identity and verify the email and phone number as well. But if you can’t do that because your account is limited then send a report to PayPal support team with a summary of your issue and a picture of your ID. “That’s what worked for me.”

I moved overseas from New York City to London for my work. All my savings were in dollars and needed to covert money over to pay for my son’s nursery daycare. I couldn’t do a bank wire at the time for some reason (can’t remember) so PayPal was the most viable option looking at FX rates.
I setup everything they way they asked, gave proof it was me and after I did the transfer, they decided to hold the money for 6 months. They told me I should have “called” them first before doing the transfer because it’s now been flagged...all while I was trying to explain to them I had already done so. They ruined my first few months moving country. F’ em. This is shared.
Sorry to hear about this Gem... I actually work for a law firm and I deal with major corporations on a daily basis, mostly in the insurance industry. However, my Fiance has worked in the finance industry for many years, and if what you said here was accurate I can't see how they would be able to hold your funds for that amount of time, not without first providing you with notice. Aside from the obvious customer service issue, there could be legal issues at play here as well. It happens all the time, these corporations constantly defraud their customers. Sometimes they do it knowingly, sometimes it's accidental, but regardless of intent there's law they MUST follow. I'm glad you at least have this platform to bring this issue to light.
They "must" but dont follow the law. I know too many other instances of this. They will not follow the law until is is actually enforced against them with an outcome that actually threatens their existence.

one thing that may have been a reason for shutdown is mis-use and abuse of the friends and family option. I have seen many people abuse this system and use it for business transactions. Many in the comic community only take friends and family when selling books as well. I have seen them start to aggressively shut down accounts that abuse the system. Not saying you do it but giving a possible reason as many people abuse this without even knowing their policy on it.
That sounds like the reason for the shutdown (if I had to guess). Always read the fine print people. It's there for a reason.

The SAME exact thing happened to our small business and they banned us, froze our $949 dollars and gave us no reason why they claimed we were too risky. We had zero complaints, zero chargebacks and shipped our handmade goods using their shipping labels so it was clear our customers were receiving their orders.
Not only did they they say they were holding our money for 180 days, but they went into our bank account and TOOK OUT $350 that had already been approved and transferred in. We ultimately closed our bank account so PayPal could no longer access it and remove our money that we worked hard for. PayPal has caused us extreme distress and frustration and we would recommend avoid using them at all costs.

That’s harsh! I’ve been scammed on eBay as a seller and PayPal took the buyers side and I was out money! I couldn’t believe it. The bastards even convert your $$$ in a sale. I live in Canada and unless it’s paid via eBay any USD I’m transfer converts to Canadian $$$. I live in Canada but want to keep a USD balance for paying for USA items. It’s a way for they to get exchange fees!
The exchange rates they use always seem to manage to screw you to the tune of 5% too. Not an accident.
I swore off ebay this week after like 17 years. Finally had enough. When they sold paypal i rarely used that going forward too and won't use it any longer. There are alternatives out there, just not as well known yet.
You just have to add USD as a currency to your account and make that currency primary. When selling something, make sure to tell the person not to send their USD in CAD, because sometimes they will pick that by mistake. Should fix your problem
It's perfectly possible to keep foreign currency in your Paypal account. You just need to set it up correctly, then it won't get converted automatically.

This is very true. Paypal closes accounts without any explanation. All their explanations are vague and general. They do not give any notice or warning. The support is virtualy non egzistant.

I never have issues with PayPal, the only reason i them is if i sell something on Ebay, that is the only reason, i hope their is a way to fight it man, sense they banned you for no reason and they are holding you're money, there has to be some way to fight it, get evidence or something and fight it maybe in court, but that is a big expense and a long process to go through for something that shouldn't be happening.
I drive by the cooperate office everyday in San Jose..i will be flipping them the bird until they give you your money and a few days after that just because. Hope it all works out

Same thing happened to my business, no email, nothing not even a phone call.
Never had any bad standing with PayPal, even had a business loan through them and paid it back within 4 months.
All of a sudden they're requesting my identity again, they only had that information and everything to show that the business is legitimate last year.
