The little sidewalk vendors he visited in Vietnam became pilgrimages for travelers. Several of them have expanded into brick and mortar businesses. There is a video on CZcams with the sobbing owners. He changed so many lives. Not many people are as positively impactful as Anthony Bourdain.

Not sure how I stumbled here, but Anthony Bourdain is one of the most important figures in my life. I'm a service industry lifer. It's not a life that's for most people, and one that a lot of people look down upon. But Anthony's success and outlook on life in this industry always made me feel better about the direction my life had swayed. It sucks he had inner demons that ultimately got the best of him. His presence had such an important impact on a lot of us out here and he will never know.

Bourdain's death was the only one to make me cry, him and Rogan (and very few others) played a huge role into me becoming who I am today since I became a fan of them in my late teens many years back (they were positive male role models in my formative years when I only had a few in real life). He made me want to travel and experience things whether that be food or just other cultures in general and help formulate my outlook on life. His wit and badass no bullshit attitude was such a powerful inspiration to me, and I always looked up to him as someone I wanted to be more like, so when someone that important to you ends up taking their own lives it hits far deeper than it would normally..
But at the end of the day some people are just tormented, and I only know how that can feel a little bit, so I can only imagine how miserable it must be for you to consider taking your own life just to end it all no matter how badass or successful you are. It makes me really take mental health more seriously.
I hope people who haven't seen his shows go back and watch them and appreciate what he left behind (start with Rogan's episode if you haven't seen any yet), because his positive outlook on humanity (especially in places where there isn't that much positivity going on) needs to be adopted as much as possible especially in dividing times like these.
R.I.P to one of the best people ever to live.

Just watched the Montana episode for the third time. Even before Bourdain passed, even before I was a fan of the Joe Rogan podcast, that was my favorite episode. Of all the places in the world that I traveled with Anthony, the one in my own backyard was the most poignant. I cried at the end this time. Thank you Anthony, for all that you shared with this Earth -- and thanks to Joe and Morgan for taking the time to remember a dear friend.

Bourdain's travel documentaries are completely unique television. I'm halfway through the CNN shows and, aside from some preachy political moralizing at times, it is Bourdain at his finest both on screen and in his writing and narration. There are hints in some of the shows of his fatalistic, even nihilistic mindset foreshadowing his suicide.

We're chasing a ghost..yup! He's verbiage, body language and looks were those of a struggling confused addict; even during his post recovery..he was hesitant to admit he was an addict. I hear you. My wife and I always loved his shows. So when we heard of his passing, we stopped watching Parts Unknown because it kinda felt weird. About 4 months ago we tried again, because there were so many episodes that Netflix still hadn't uploaded yet. So catch up, you know?. I fucking choked listening to him. My wife was silent the whole time. We didn't comment, we didn't discuss what he was saying. We finished that one episode, turn it off and haven't watched it since. It physically hurts to listen to Anthony talk and know he is gone.
It sucks, because Anthony really wanted to know and understand everyone. Except hipsters lol. But, man, he was so genuine trying to know and understand what makes people tick. And that is so fucking rare these days. The last 2 decades have been a growing turmoil of the "its all about me" mentality that he fucking stuck out like a gentle giant that wanted to hear you. Genuinely hear you, and share with you. So fucking rare this days.

I've been watching a lot of it, but it's bittersweet because I know that, some day, I'll get to the end of it, and there will never be any more. No one could do it like him.

and he touched many people deep inside, authentic, an absolute leged. He found the extraordinary in the very ordinary.

Sorry for your loss , he will missed. Only show i would serial watch was Parts Unknown. Maybe Anthony had sensory overload? Seen to much sadness and hate on the world, and was blind sided couldn't see the love and good times.
Maybe there was more going on then the public knew; obviously. Rest in peace Anthony

Was in Chicago at the same time, when my daughter called me and asked what I thought of A’s suicide. I told the truth... I didn’t know him. It was sad to read about his passing, loved his show, but didn’t know him. Please, tell us what you know about Antony Borodin. We could all use with a little release. Xo tired of the National enquirer. 👍

The world is full of plastic souls. So much so that I lean towards being misanthropic. There are very few truly good people who are just "real" , no BS, no vanity, jealousy or agenda. Anthony was one of those. His only agenda was to be nice to your fellow man, encourage people to get off their ass and experience different foods, different scenery, different cultures, etc...and to just enjoy life. No words...no words...
