    Thanks so much for this. Lowe’s delivered and set mine up a year ago and lo and behold, there is no tech sheet. My fridge wasn’t getting cold and I pretty much narrowed it down to being either the damper control or the fridge thermos not communicating to the damper. Was just about to order a damper for $66 when I stumbled upon this. Had no idea about the service entry mode because I never had the tech sheet. I can’t even find a PDF online.
    For some reason me running through the tests made the fridge start working properly again. It’s only a friggin year old so it shouldn’t have problems yet anyway. Thanks again for this video.

    Thanks for sharing this with the DYI community. I looked under my fridge for my spec. sheet but it was gone. Probably ended up in the delivery van floor. I tried the test mode on my Kenmore bottom mount fridge control panel but all I can get are two horizontal dashes ie. - - where the numbers used to be. This tells me that my board has definitely failed.

    so are lower numbers mean colder, higher number mean warmer? mine is stuck on 7 / 4 right now. Refrigerator is not cooling, freezer must be full of frost/ice because I can't get the door open. Pulled hard and the handle came off on one side! S o need to try to make freezer warmer if I can get the control panel to change - just don't know whether to go up or down to make it warmer

    Awesome! Have a Kenmore fridge that no longer auto defrosts. The problem started intermittently, but now frost builds up within a few days. First symptoms were rock hard ice cream in the freezer section and warmer temps in the fridge section. Eventually, the frost would build up to the point that cold air would not circulate up to the fridge section. Had to empty the freezer section and defrost it with a heat gun. What a pain. Just popped it into forced defrost after locating the tech sheet. I'll troubleshoot the rest this weekend. Thanks so much!

      Sounds like the typical pattern of a failed Jazz board. Buy the new board from the link in the video description above. If, on the off chance, that doesn't fix it, return the board for a refund!

    I have AMANA AB2225pek. I replaced Tue jazz card and since then the damper always make noise, not when it open or close (not when it turn on) but almost always. I can't find a thechnician in my province who know how to fix it. I think that the problem is not the damper itself because it seems that the jazz keep giving voltage to the damper.
    do you have an idea what can it be and how to fix it?

    Thank you so much! Before I saw this, I manually took apart the entire freezer compartment, defrosted, then back together. I replaced the thermostat, that was the faulty culprit first time, but my freezer just "froze" up again. I'm thinking it's the JAZZ board. Question - in the Force Defrost mode, can you still open/close the fridge and not affect the long defrost program? Also, I'm assuming that the long defrost program turns off after it's complete...again, I'm assuming and you know what that means! Cheers.

    • @MikeH2SWL
      @MikeH2SWL Před 9 lety

      Mike Weston The LONG defrost cycle is used in the factory and it is recommended that it NOT be used in the field/home.

  • @kwacz
    @kwacz Před rokem

    my whirlpool has this jazz board. The defrost heater comes on and stays on for a complete defrost like it should but only in forced defrost mode. it will not automatically defrost, but putting it into forced mode once daily and letting it run works fine.
    so why???
    A. The defrost heater and defrost thermostat are working properly.
    B. The control board IO and relays are working properly.
    the only thing left is the software on the board is not commanding the defrost mode automatically. Seems like they are purposely programmed to fail every 2 years like clockwork so you have to buy a new one. Forced defrost mode and automatic defrost mode both use the same IO on the board and the same exact physical hardware is used to complete a cycle. So not automatically doing this proves to me it is intentional software programming preventing or turning off the automatic defrosting of the refrigerator causing wasted electricity and spoiled food.
    am i missing something here???
