That switch to left hand as a young lad is undeniably brilliant. Uncle Toni a Great tactician. Having the same amount of strength from both hands is hack, a legal one! Worth it
@Funnyduck Nope. Nadal used to play forehands with 2 hands. And Uncle Toni suggested he used his left for forehands and two hands for backhands. It was not Nadal's idea.
TheFlash3237 false. Rafa himself said he chose to use his left hand because it felt right, not for some great advantage. Toni only told him to take one hand off.
@@erintoney7137 That's not entirely true. Playing left-handed meant Rafa's forehand would go to his opponents backhands most of the time because the majority of players are righties. It was both a strategy from Uncle Tony and natural feel from Nadal.
That backhand he hit back in 2007 is still my favorite backhand he’s ever hit. That’s when I knew that backhand would be a problem. I’ve also noticed he’s changed his stance on the backhand. He used to hit it mostly open-stanced. Now he hits it more closed-stance.
Naaahh, it's reasonably rated.... I'm a huge fan of Rafa, but while has pull some amazing backhand shots like the one shown here, he only fully developed it as a consistent weapon recently. Early career he usually just focused on putting it in with his heavy topspin, then he added some slice variety to change pace and add strategic component, it's only after 2017 that he really added some flats to his backhand, especially going down the line... that's when his backhand truly became potent. If there's any Rafa's skillset that is underrated, I would say his deft touches and net plays. Second only to Roger... ok maybe third after Feli.
Rafa’s backhand has always been my favorite shot of his. The tennis media and fans always talk about his amazing forehand....yet his cross-court backhand is like a lightning strike (can come out of nowhere and is almost unstoppable)
Djokovic has troubled him over and over the years by repeatedly targeting to his backhand. Am so happy that Rafa had amazing answers to a few of them.. something that is a reminder for everybody that chased that backhand for ages to come.
Actually the opposite, Djokovic has targeted Rafa's FH which on the defense he tends to float back to Djokovic's BH which he then proceeds to flatten, create more angles/ move Rafa around, or go down the line. Nadal's faults vs Djokovic are mostly mental anyway, he has the game to defeat him whenever he feels confident, problem is since 2011 he has never felt confident vs Djokovic.

One of the best shots in history.
Because he has the same power in the right hand
Yes, Rafa is amazing

Most underrated two hander of all time??
yeah that's right
Of course, doesn’t get that respect from viewers, not so sure from the other players haha
No one ever said Nadal's backhand wasn't any good, just like no one says Roddick had a bad serve
Definitely

That last shot is one of the best you'll ever see in tennis. Just ... wow.

That last shot was absolutely incredible
Best backhand ever in my opinion
God this shot can destroy anyone. Look at Djokovic’s reaction at the end, means a lot
the last one is just unbelievable, a rocket !!!!!
Rafa is the master of impossible tennis shots! UNREAL!
LEGEND!
nadal backhand strokes are so underrated
Much better backhand than Federer
He runs around that backhand way too much 😥

wtf is 3:27 ?????
If he didn't run around his backhand so much_He would win so many more matches.
Feder's backhand shits all over this inefficient and ugly ass stroke of Nadal's.
nice compilation, cringe music.
