    Tony's attempt to try and steer Jackie Jr. in the right direction was pretty good. He often tried to give the kid everything; potential future wife (Meadow), advice on staying in college, and I'm sure he was also still kicking up money to Rosalie. If Jr had only stayed in school, he would've been living pretty large with Tony at his side. However, I think the only person that could've ever steered Jackie Jr properly was Jackie Sr himself.

      He's also just a really nasty, petty person. He abuses his power and seeing other people makes him unhappy. When his sister Janet finally got some mental help and stopped acting out, it genuinely bothered him to see her doing well, and he goaded her about her missing son until she snapped. He wanted Chris to go to rehab and then constantly mocked him for not drinking or doing drugs.
      The guy was an ignorant thug, and he was deliberately portrayed as such by the writers of the show -- David Chase literally said that Gandolfini was incredible for making the audience sympathize with such an unlikeable person as Tony Soprano.

    1- Notice how his right hand gestures towards the chair for the kid to have a seat and towards the wine bucket.
    2- How he asks the kid to "lose the glasses" without looking at him.

    • @Avengerie
      @Avengerie Před 4 lety +27

      Speaking from personal experience, you don't have to be that intelligent to be a doctor. Good memory, spatial understanding and willingness to learn about the human body (the last one is optional, there are plenty of differential diagnosis handbooks for the most unimaginative).
      I just so happens that in countries where they pay doctors a lot (like the US), many intelligent people choose to go into the profession, meaning that only the most intelligent applicants are admitted. But high intelligence is not a requirement to be a doctor.
