Yes - a decent haul for very little risk and not a lot of money. The financial guns are being loaded to sign Soto and hopefully resign Pete Alonso if he continues to build on what he has done in the last couple days or so.

Every decision is just a process of risk management. In that context, I appreciate Stearns decisions to think of or hire on players with multi-tool capabilites and degrees of flexibility. As a Met fan there's always a bolt of lightning waiting to strike. But if you have a backup pair of rubber boots... one day, hopefully soon, we'll be in our third or fourth consecutive October and it will be time again to chase a Verlander or some sort of super star speciality player. For now lets just keep stocking up for our rainy days.

Good job on Winker and Brazoban. Did not do nearly enough. We have not a single dependable lefty in the pen and he acquired yet another 5th starter. Clearance bin garbage and Stearns reiterating that “the goal is to just make the playoffs” even when the team is the hottest team in baseball since June 1. So stearns is happy to be a top 12 team in a 30 team league. And Mets fans will be content with this as always.
Stearns gets a C- (and to the guy telling everyone “get lost”, I’ll save you some time. Shut up.)

I feel like this is a decent haul. A lot of my friends weren't pleased at all, but you have to remember the Mets weren't really "in" on this year, it was supposed to be a rebuild year or transition year or whatever. I think even if we make it to the wild card and that's it, the season was a largely unexpected success. The future is brighter if that's the case since we didn't give up major prospects this deadline as well.

The fact that they weren’t in from the beginning of this year and then performed how they have is the reason to go in for this year. Plus the Braves were hobbling. They should’ve rewarded this team and the fan base with a significant controllable addition. This team has great chemistry and is playing well. You never know if you’re going to get this type of chemistry again. You should strike when the iron is hot, and this team earned more than what they were given.

It’s a valid point, and the Mets did “middle of the road” trades. Blackburn isn’t a top of the rotation guy. Why not go after Crochet and blow them away with an offer? I just don’t think they did enough. They’ll maybe a third or second WC and get bounced. That’s meh for me!

So, first let's see if the METS do make the playoffs...then, we'll take it from there
BTW, ALL contending teams MLB teams have had ups & downs - some more severe than others - LAD have been most consistent - but even LAD have been 2 games under .500 over their last 24 Games & they have lost numerous series and even been swept a number of times by both contenders and non-contenders this season
