Familia 6 outs. Rookie Thor out the pen. deGrom refusing to give in. Murphy doing insane things. What a series, year, and game. Can’t believe time flies this fast!
All those losers under 500 without cespedes
deGrom will go down as the greatest shortstop to ever convert into a pitcher of All time..2 back to back CY’s
Update: this year 😳😳😳
Greatest pitcher ever lol maybe
MVP if he didn’t get hurt
This game is where he became my favorite player on the team. He didn't have his best stuff that night, but he managed to get a quality start in an elimination game out of sheer willpower!
At this stage could go down as the best ever.
Love terry collins.
@Tristan Hieronymus Burchett The manager of the Mets at that time
Ripken was on the money when he said Daniel Murphy will be the difference maker...Murphy was just that!
He went on to historic proportions against the cubs and totally shattered there dreams that year. One of the best post seasons by anyone ever
@@bardicus1322stop Murphy was 0-7 vs cubs in 2015 without cespedes
Was in Mcfadden's in Citi field watching this live! Best Memories!
So fun to watch a hungry, young, talented, aggressive Mets team. lolmutts has never been more prevalent than in 2023
Innings 6th through the 9th were the longest innings in my Mets fan life😂the torture was real😬😬
Back when deGrom’s hair dominated
Amber Sun but he cut his hair and became the best player in the world
Interesting last at-bat. In the long run, Kendrick attained glory while Familia gained a reputation as a choke artist
Daniel Murphy #28 was the power house that went on to b e the big factor against LA and the Cubs and dominated the series with a Homerun derby of his own. The player maker made the difference.
The Murphy steal of 3rd off the shift was the heart and soul of this game. It was an EPIC blunder from LA that completely played Turner and that if truth be told should be more talked about than it is.
This shouldn’t have been Turners cover, because they had switched him to the middle position. Think it was supposed to be Seager’s cover of third and he was a call up.
@@thesonnyboy that was the beauty of the steal. They didn't know who was meant to be covering the bag either, and Murph knew it.
@@mophead9191 It was more than beautiful! I believe this was the first or second year the Dodgers had utilized the shift, which required immense resource and analytics. Then they bring up a rookie in Seager for September, who has zero shift experience in the minors. Murphy finds a hole and takes it! It was like watching the space shuttle explode because of bad o rings! I was there that night and screamed into the abyss when he made the turn! I was obsessed with this play for a month afterwards, it really encapsulated everything about life to me. Baseball is amazing!
@@thesonnyboy
That Challenger reference is the worst metaphor of all time.
@@jimwerther actually a simile, but I’ll take it! Love the toffee, by the way!
Been a die hard met fan my whole life.. my dad also was a bigger met fan..seeing this was nice ...degrom was aces then... one of the best in the game till this day...letting Murphy walk after this season was a horrible decision how we let him go after the run he had is bonkers ..the thing that is hard to watch is that we didnt go on to win the world series and havent since 86 ..something has gotta give..
I agree. We needed Murphy back but it looks very bright from here on out with Cohen at the head of our team!!!
Hope you’re watching this year. Best team we’ve had since ‘86.
Yeah watching 👀 absolutely let's go mets heck of a season so far let's keep it rolling ..till November
@@fredyllanos8972
Yeah, no. That didn't work out too well.
@WJ MCIII
Sandy Alderson was a disaster as GM. He chased Murphy out when Murph was dying to return, so #28 went to the Nats and killed it. Sandy also released Justin Turner. Many other horrendous moves, just killed this team.
Tons of respect for Terry Collins and the Mets players including Daniel Murphy. It was amazing how the Mets clinched a playoff berth for the first time under Terry Collins and since Citi Field opened.
degrom's hair is glorious here
Little did we know. This is greatness.
Such good memories!
WIMER FLORES HIT 16 HRS AND HAD OVER 50 RBIS NOT PLAYING REGULARLY.
Jake showed 'em. Even back then, he showed 'em.
Prime Greinke (95 mph on his 4 seamer?!?) vs young Degrom! This is gonna be good:) look Howie Kendrick and a rookie Seager! Nice throwback, when pitchers having long hair was a thing…thank god that ended. Don’t think DeGrom would have won his Cy young’s til he cut his hair.
The Day DeGrom Outdueled Grienke !!!!!!
In 2015 Familia was lights out. What happened to him now?
he beat his wife
I think they made a mistake by putting the Darnaud foul in play and letting Murphy score on a tag up. I could be wrong but damn the Mets played smart ball on this evening.
I never understood why Ethier didn't let it drop, nor why the announcers didn't discuss it either. Seems like an obvious mistake. Greinke was dealing and might well have stranded Murphy. Not that I'm complaining.
He didn’t become the deGrom we know today until a couple seasons later but lord have mercy imagine watching the first 4 batters he faced and thinking “he’s not gonna allow another run”
First 5
Greinke's ERA in 2015 was ONE POINT SIX SIX????
Terry : he's gonna be great ( deGrom) he's gonna be a great pitcher. That's an understatement, but Terry was 100% right on this one. Won ROY in 2014, went on to win the CY award in 2018 and 2019 and came very close to winning it in 2020. He also was selected to the NL All star team 2015, 2018 and 2019. He also holds the MLB record for 30 straight starts giving up 3 runs or fewer. ( Yeah, that's kinda mind boggling) Despite many starts getting zero run support from our offense he still holds a respectable record of 70-51 and an all time ERA of 2.61.
DeGrom is great, but the 30 straight starts things is pretty ridiculous. Pitchers from Cy Young to Pedro Martinez and everyone in between pitched 9 innings, not 6. No comparison.
THIS WAS BASEBALL LIKE IT WAS MEANT TO BE PLAYED. NO STUPID DH, NO STUPID RUNNER AT 2B IN XTRA INNING GAME, NO STUPID RULE WHERE A PITCHER COULD HAVE JUST THREE PICK OFF THROWS TO FIRST, GIVING THE BASE RUNNER AN UNFAIR ADVANTAGE TO STEALSECOND BASE AND NO STUPID BIGGER BASES.
I miss Murph he retired... he was a damn good hitter fielding was a little shoddy at times but I wasn't happy when they ley him walk... but oh well... he proved his worth with The Nats to bad he never won a world series with them he definitely deserved that... he always gave his all 100%....
It's crazy to think about how GOOD deGrom was at this point.. and how he is even WAY BETTER now 😅
And how the 2022 lineup is waaaay better than these Mets
@@plasticplanetdiscgolf
You spoke too soon
In the subsequent 7 years DeGrom sticking with the philosophy “I will simply throw the ball harder to get more outs”. Greinke going the other way “I will be the right handed with the most control in baseball to get more outs” oh and my 4 seamer won’t top 90 MPH…
ya gotta love seeing dodgers fans reaction to losing
Really CZcams, 7 commercials in the 1sr. inning alone. Quit after 2nd inning.

He is an assassin -Gary Cohan
Still to this day, I didn’t understand why Sandy didn’t resign Murphy 🤦🏽♂️. That 2016 Mets team would’ve made it to the World Series. Our offense was off that year without him in the lineup.
not sandys fault, wilpons and their cheap deals was the root of it. It was reported almost all of Sandy's attempts at big contracts were all stopped by them.
@@iammadman1852
100% Sandy's fault. Murphy wasn't asking for a lot of money and was dying to return, but Sandy didn't want him. He offered significantly more money to Ben Zobrist than Murph got from the Nats. Same Sandy who released Justin Turner. He was a terrible GM.
Remember watching this live and thinking in about 9 months there will be a few more Jacob's and Noah's
59:56 Turning point of the game.
Farewell Jake!

“All you analytics.”
😂
I’m a dodgers fan, why’d this get recommended to me bruh?
Josh Subia maybe CZcams hates you idk
Because it is Dodger related win lose or draw, the Dodgers are involved
It was recommended to you because in 2021....you realize that the Dodgers didn't lose to the Mets....they lost to Jacob DeGrom..... perhaps this year proving he's the best pitcher in the game and one of the best ever.
I want Terry back!!! Please get rid of Rojas!!! This dude isnt even in Cohens plans and the games we have lost and could won has already proven it!!!
LGM FO LYFE!
Omar built this team, and Sandy did his best to destroy it. He chased Murphy out of town so he could destroy the Mets with Washington, after releasing Justin Turner so he could become a near HoFer with LA. Also released Colin McHugh so he could win 15 with Houston. Ran six or seven of the worst drafts before the Mets gave that part of his job over to Omar. Sandy was a disaster.
So Ethier plays his entire 12 season career for the Dodgers and the unceremoniously dump him after he herniated a disk playing baseball for them. Damn is MLB not the most brutal thing ever.
ooo I wanna see this 🥰😍
12:49 anyone here know why grandl switched from the hockey style catchers mask.
Sam Ryan, just plain sexy.
U know I remember this game n truth is IMO, Jake was pitching great, he wasn't getting the calls from that creep umpire, I can't believe no one else has commented on that, cause in the first inning there were pitched that were like! Where was it??? That was a ball r u kidding? N instead of a strikeout u have a quality hitter n a hitters count with 2 Xtra chances I think it was Adrian Hernandez but I know it was the right fielder who made the good catch on conforto, his hit was the difference IMO, just like (well not exactly) first game of 2000 WS they should've beat the Yankees, that Yankees team won what 85 games? But they had the postseason experience n that's big, but if the closer didn't blow the save in game 1 I believe firmly that things would've been very different (can't recall his name at the moment I usually can) but I digress these games against the dodgers were big indicators of the great ness to come, such a shame he got hurt last year, cause in his last 3 starts he was trying to work thru it n his era went from .50 to 1.08 as a result, it was like shrouded in secrecy I was thinking the MGR was trying to protect his era n was pulling him out early (not too bright I know) but I thought he was flawless at that point n an injury was the last thing I or anyone else suspected cause his motion n mechanics r just so effortless looking, key word "looking" LGM'S!!!!!!!!
Will never understand why Eithier caught that deep foul ball off d'Arnaud. That let Murphy tag up and score, tying the game. If he let it drop, it's just a foul ball.
Next one could've been a hit and a bigger inning
@Nick DePaulo
Same here. Also found it strange that none of the announcers pointed that out.
@@anthonym7133 Ethier let a run score when he had the option to just let it drop and keep the runner at 3rd. Awful baseball play.
trolley dodgers still looking for their first world series championship in a full season since 1988

I wonder if the Mets considered making Murphy the batting coach.
