Thabraca Trail Challenge 2022 (69km, 2629m D+ iTRA ultra marathon in Tunisia)

On Saturday 8 January 2022 my friend Ben and I ran in an ultra marathon in Tunisia's Kroumirie Mountains by the Algerian border: The Thabraca Trail Challenge. Based in Tabarka, this epic 69km ultramarathon involves running up and down the wild coastline of Tunisia's northern Jendouba Governorate. It has 2,629m vertical elevation change and is an International Trail Running Association (iTRA) 3 rated course. Watch us struggle through wind, rain, hail, flooding and even a collapsed bridge!

I like nature.
From Mid November till Late March North Western Tunisia and parts of Central West sees very bad weather conditions.
Rain, Snow, Sleet, Gusty wind, Fog, Frost you name it…
The lowest ever temperature recorded in Tunisia was in Thala -15.4 c

Yes it was very cold! A lot of people turned up in very inappropriate race gear (some just t-shirts and shorts) and a few people even got hypothermia. It was a bit concerning.

Yes, I think the vast majority of competitors were Tunisian. Some people had come from running clubs as far away as Djerba.
