Since the topic of beauty pageants, modelling etc have been surfaced in the interview;
I have a few straight questions
1. if modelling is not about 'beauty outside' as the learned lady speaks here, what is it about? Isnt these very institutions objectify women on set 'beauty standars'? Don't they have specifications as eligibility criteria of certain height for participating in these contests? Have ever a fat, dark skinned, short, flat nosed or any other physical features that arent considered as 'beauty parameters' allowed to walk on these citadels of fashion?
2.If these pageants talk of egalitarianism, in what terms they do so? By showcasing clothes and accesories where the average hard earning middle class will never be able to get in their lives and if they strive for that, it is quite probable that they fall into dust storm of glitz and glamour.
3. If its about intelligence, or in a wider connotation cognitive skills, why is it that they are judged with very narrow parameters like speaking in an elite language or some random questions. Is intelligence is so easily measurable?
4. Where is skill testing? In perfectly idolized feminine steps over a platform?
These are general questions. Not targeted to the respected officer. What she has achieved in the coveted exam of the nation speaks for her. All congratulations for such a stellar rank!
But the answers I sought from a frenzied media and other platforms going ga-ga over the 'Miss India' background.
Lol I agree, it's pretty evident these are not "beauty" contests these are "attractiveness" contests. They literally try and sell the idea of being physically attractive under the garb of "it's not about physical beauty, it's about your smartness"

She is truly model. I remember how One India Hindi Channel has posted 14 videos, Webdunia Hindi Channel 11 videos on their channel when results came. The interesting thing was they were putting the videos on hourly basis.
It was clear that she paid media for her advertisement. Modelling lies her in blood.Other thing she also got her Wikipedia page made by someone.
Means I can’t understand who is she. She is not so privileged to have Wikipedia page. There are so many other girl candidates. There was girl who has got around 250 rank , she was blind . But no one talked about her.
And there were 20 finalists in Miss India 2016. She was just one of them. Runner up was another girl. So stop gossiping about her that she has got 2nd position in Miss India 2016.
She should improve her habits if she really wanna want to do some work by becoming IAS officer (hope she gets ,still not confirmed.).
Style maarne and paid advertisement krne se kaam nhi chalega.

Media covered her extensively only after Miss India organisation gave out the coverage on its official website. Media channels found her story interesting n she speaks well with such confidence n poise that media attention was obvious. Let's not judge without seeing her work n the getting name in first 100 in upsc itself a big achievement irrespective of the service she finally gets
