Fun fact : Rock, Flying, Fighting makes another perfect type triangle, both offensively & defensively
The one thing I've found that doesn't work is that Fighting and Flying don't resist themselves, which may or may not matter.

Can we just applause Brandon for his sheer dedication to these Fakemon videos? Not only does he come up with great design motifs, but also ties themes and lore to create a very realistic Pokémon starter trio, and does this all for a mere type-swap video

Being an Egyptian and having Feraligatr being my favorite from Johto, the convergents of the Totodile line is my absolute favorite! The others are sick as hell too
I feel you My only thing is instead of Cairo I probably do Thebes.
Chilean here, i LOVED the fact that the artist used the colo-colo as inspiration, since it was my favourite legend when i was a child (when we were young, we usually had to take legends for spanish class, and the mapuches legends were usually the biggest choices).
Also fun fact, the person Colo-Colo also inspired the name of the biggest or one of the biggest national futbol (soccer) team in Chile with the same name and with the face of the hero as their logo.

Ironically, rock-flying-fighting is one of the trios that works exactly like grass-water-fire, so this actually works really well

I would love to see a dark, fighting and psychic type versions of the gen 4 starters because this was specifically the gen when people thought pokemon would change the type trio.
The only thing with that is that Dark is immune to Psychic rather than resistant, but that could be changed with a new ability. My thoughts were to have the basic fire/grass/water starters, and have them evolve opposing types, ex. Fire/Dark, Grass/Fighting, Water/Psychic with a new ability (I call it Darkvision) where psychic type attacks can hit dark types for resistant damage, as well as give a small boost to psychic damage (1.1x or something)
He could make empoleon based on Minerva's owl from roman mythology
I like to see turtwig as fighting chimchar as psychic and piplup as dark cause piplup being a dark type is just funny to me

Let's see what abilities would they have?
Megamorph- Sand Stream and Sand Rush, Hidden ability- Sap Sipper
Typholoon- Drizzle and Snow Cloak, Hidden ability- Competitive
Pharoligatr- Moxie and Rough Skin, Hidden ability- Defiant
A while ago I created my own rock type Chikotita line. It was part of a project where I did exactly what this series intend - to create alternate alternate universe starters with different typings and names.
The difference is that my line was called Lithorita - Baylith - Meganeral and had the amethyst as its gem of inspiration. This granted the final stage a secondary Psychic type cause of the correlation of said gem with mystical properties
I also made my own Rock type starter for my own region based off the garnet and ancient golems. The members of the line are Guarnet, Ansharnet, and Guarelemm. Kind of funny how we both made Rock starters based off of the garnet that eventually get part Psychic typing (though the second stage in this case gains it).
Never in my life have I ever thought of a flying Cyndaquil,but as always It was AWESOME!! ❤
I love the creativity with all the Pokémon, I really like that Pharohligatr is quadraped, I can't wait for hoenn!
I instantly noticed the Conquest connection. Though, it's funny the Starter Types are those that aren't their Main Type.
Hideyoshi's Specialty and Perfect Link is Fire/Fighting (Infernape), but he's the Fire-Type Leader (with access to Reshiram).
Ieyasu's Specialty and Perfect Link is Steel/Rock (Aggron), but he's the Steel-Type Leader (with access to Registeel).
Nobunaga does have Rayquaza, but he's the Dragon-Type Leader (and his Specialty and Perfect Link is Dragon/Electric
with Zekrom to match as original Legendary, and Hydreigon beforehand).
You got my attention with the Totodile in the thumbnail 👀 So glad you're continuing with this concept! Cool to see the starters with different types. Also, really liking Windaquil's 'stache.
Oh, hey, it's a certain Gator I saw early. I love all these lines, such an upgrade from the original Johto starters.
you should do the Dark-Psychic-Fighting type trio for Hoenn
Fighting Sceptile
Psychic Blaziken
Dark Swampert
And maybe for Sinnoh you could do Fairy - Steel - Fighting
Fairy Infernape
Steel Torterra
Fighting Empoleon
Honestly, the names being similar makes these work well as convergent Pokemon which is still great

If gamefreak ever made a game with different starter type triangle, I'd buy that game in a heartbeat.

They all look awesome, I think I even like Megamorph more than Meganium. But I'd still choose Totonile.
Fun Fact, those Japanese historical figures were also present in the ‘Warriors’ Franchise; the game being Samurai Warriors: Chronicles.
It’s a really fun game that I had for the 3DS, and it also provides an interesting look in the fighting of the clans of early Japan, and how the nation was formed.

I Love this design. Everything makes sense and is backed up by reference. I could totally see them as a Regional form or a Convergent evolution and would pick them over the originals.
I love the creativity and quality of the pokemon you create! They could also be convergent evolution pokemon, like toedscool and wiglett, instead of AU starters, but if that is the narrative that you think is better, then I respect that. I hope you have a great day :)

With the new theming, historical ties and all that~ Loved it, and all the designs are super cool too! Now I wish we'd have a separate game with these fellas in there xD Along with a handful of the other Johto/Kanto pokemon receiving some ties to irl ancient cultures. Would be super!

If I could request something, I had an idea for a Pokémon that I’d love for you to flesh out, because I kinda suck at that, my idea is a fairy/ghost type based on bedsheet ghosts and the saying “the dead never rest”.
I like how Windaquil's evolution is kind of a reverse of its name, Quilwind

1:02 that is actually my fave gem and i have always wanted to see pokemon do that so this was exciting to see. Also i am surprised they have never done this especially with larpas' name coming from the lapis part of lapis ;azuli

I really like these designs! Would love to see the Totodile line as a regional variant for an Egypt based region, and while Cyndaquil has always been my favorite and I like the flying type, I kinda wish it had been light blue instead of gray for the darker parts of the body in the line. The body looks monochrome, and kinda off, but I'm no artist and that is just the unimportant opinion of some rando on the internet lol

When your done with swapping the types of the starter Pokémon of very region could you maybe make an animation video of what their Pokédex entries would be and if that video gets tons of like could you make another version of that video but their Pokédexes entries were literal or even maybe make them realistic like as if they were in real life please?

8:40 its back kind of looks like a falinks helmet! i doubt it was intentional, but if it was its a nice detail given rome and egypt's history.
With how much we’ve lately been seeing Pokémon from separate evolution lines who are still very similar to each other (E.g. Tentacool and Toadscool), this feels like it could actually be incorporated into a real Pokémon game. They wouldn’t have to be the starters you choose from at the start of the game, but they could be a set that you can choose from later as the story progresses (something similar to the 2 Kanto starters you get to pick from in Sword and Shield’s Isle of Armour DLC). Or they could just be wild Pokémon.
Thought of doing Convergent starters? Something I kind of imagined could happen if we got a new Legends game.

Pharolagatr's look has me wonder if there may be aspects of the Ouroboros Lizard, a desert-dwelling reptile that spikes up when attacked.
This and the other type swap video are pretty much making convergent Pokemon version of the starters
