The world has always been broken. All times are hard. Every era has it's share of suffering and strife. But it's the world we live in, we can choose whether or not suffering and strife breaks us or whether we choose to survive it and come out all the stronger for it. Also, in the face of suffering, we learn to better appreciate any good that comes our way.

Music is very good at describing one world. Playing with the EssentialCraft minecraft mod, I found a world ... Perhaps the most broken and dangerous than all the others. Ruins of cities, green clouds of smoke in them, strange irresistible radiation capable of killing while staying there for a long time. The planets in the sky move almost chaotically, disappearing from sight in a minute. And the sun, even three! Some kind of purple, some kind of green. Deep craters in the ground, other traces of war. And the wind does not move as usual.
After today I needed this and right at this time 5 minutes from home.

Well, the world is what it's always been. Sure existence can be harsh but to call it "broken" is to imply it should somehow be different than it is but no one or nothing can defy the laws of nature. The human world on the other hand is purely constructed from our own flawed minds. People ignorantly commit atrocities because they can't seem to see the bigger picture and thus the long-term consequences of their actions.
Perfect soundtrack for the 21st century.....👿👿👿🌒🌒🌒🌒

I loved the Iron Rain piece by Phonothek so much because of the sound effects. Since I’m a huge Transformers fan this song transported my imagination to Cybertron.
For those of you that don’t know, Cybertron was the planet and home of these robotic titans that became an abandoned vessel from eons of war. Since their home was destroyed, the Autobots wanted to take refugee on Earth. The Decepticons, on the other hand, wanted to take over our planet and plunder its resources so they could rebuild and gain back control over Cybertron. It truly is a dead world to them- one that that want to rebuild again for different reasons. And I can’t help but think this whole album sets the mood for their broken home perfectly.
Now here’s how my imagination spiraled from Iron Rain:
*[Keep in mind that only the first paragraph below is part of the actual Bayverse Transformers plot and the rest of the plot is made up (besides the creatures and characters of course)]*
In one of the Bayverse movies, Optimus Prime has to go back to his dead planet (for reasons I don’t remember). This is also around the time when he came across Quintessa (an evil creator of his).
While Iron Rain was playing, I couldn’t help but imagine what it would been like if the audience got to see Optimus taking his time to go through his old home. Where would he have gone first? What would he have done?
Since everything is desolated on Cybertron, there’s no reason to visit any of it’s abandoned locations unless it meant something to you. We all know that with anyone that’s wise, they’re well familiar with feelings of nostalgia. Old-souls practically revel in nostalgic times they never got to experience. And since we all acknowledge Optimus Prime as an extremely wise leader, we can’t help but ask what parts of his past are nostalgic to him. What are some past memories that drew to his spark (soul) the most? The places Optimus would visit on Cybertron would determine this.
Would Optimus go to the place where he was raised as a sparkling (child)? Would he have visited the library from when he was a data librarian and knew Ratchet? Perhaps he would have visited the pits of Kaon, where Megatron had ruled as Megatronous, a fearsome gladiator but close friend to Optimus at the time.
When Iron Rain started playing, I couldn’t help but imagine Optimus deciding to shelter in one of these ruined but nostalgic locations because it began to rain. And this wasn’t just any rain, but iron rain. It would make sense that it was raining iron because Cybertron is home to robotic beings. But instead of enjoying the rain, like many humans do, Optimus took shelter from it because iron rain was feared back when Cybertron started dying.
When Cybertron was crumbling, there was an outbreak of Scrap Eaters (little savage creatures that only ate metal) which could easily outnumber and kill a transformer like a swarm of hornets. The Scrap Eaters would take over the streets when it began to rain iron which led to all transformers taking shelter inside buildings and homes until the rain stopped. The only reason why the Scrap Eaters wouldn’t attack the transformers in broad daylight was because they’re already accustomed to the idea that if they try to attack transformers during daytime, they would be killed by other transformers nearby. This is why Scrap Eaters resorted to coming outside during the rain, this was the time their food was readily available and falling from the skies while the transformers left them alone.
This is what Optimus does when it began to rain, he took shelter in one of his nostalgic locations and began reminiscing over his past- left to his own thoughts while scraps of iron tap against the buildings and hit the ground. Though Optimus can’t see any Scrap Eaters he still doesn’t want to risk going outside because any Scrap Eater knows very well now that a transformer lingering on Cybertron is most likely alone and extremely vulnerable. It’s better if you weren’t discovered.
I’d like to think that after this period of rain ends, Optimus draws away from his reminiscing phase and focuses on his mission. And as he treks on throughout his unrecognizable home, like a true nomad, that is when his path merges with Quintessa’s.

WOW! I did not plan on writing this much but man it felt so good to do so! This is the power of music, it can fuel creative minds to summon their most inspiring works of art. Thank you CyroChamber, for letting my mind live and wander for a few moments in a fandom I love. 💙
I know there has been a lot of speculation that there’ll be a movie created about Optimus Prime specifically. I just hope that if it does happen, the director will respect Optimus’ past and give TF fans a deep look into who the noble leader was before he became a Prime. This view will help us relate to him more instead of distantly viewing him as a strong but emotionless leader.
In case you’re curious about what other music from this album got me thinking about Optimus, Les Temps Ont Change, Regenesis and The Empty Chapel did for sure (though I think this whole album can somehow fit Cybertron).

Sometimes I want to throat stomp overly positive people for always being so happy. I figure we should all have a sore throat at some point, and so, STOMP!!! hack, groan, struggle...fall to the ground, cry, panic, pray (for nothing), and then awaken in a new reality where things just happen sometimes.
Don’t you know? Some of the happiest people, are the most depressing ones. Some people just pretend to be happy, but once they are home or alone, there’s only darkness.
