I actually took this really seriously and am faced with the issue now that I cant imagine seeing "nothing". This is impossible. How tf... I mean when you see nothing...how? Think about it! Its gonna make me go insane.
Nothing is when you try to watch the video on a speaker. If you tried watching truly nothing on your phone the screen would collapse on itself like there was never a screen there. Truly scary.
Well yeah, seeing black isn't losing vision, it's just having a vision of blackness. That's still seeing something. Dude is saying your brain wouldn't even create blackness for you to see anymore, you just wouldn't even perceive sight.
If you want to experience this, close your eyes in a very dark room, then put your hands over your eyes. The only difference between that and this video is the fact that you wouldn't feel anything either. I have 1 eye that's connected to an optic nerve. My right eye is purely cosmetic, 100% blindness and 0 feeling. I'm 1 eye away from this video being my reality
Close one eye and try to see through that closed eye while having your other eye open. You'll see nothing. Now think about how that nothingness would be on both eyes
Seeing nothing is as if the eyes bever existed at all, so like no sense of anything felt again in your eyes, like the way your nose is, it would just be like skin
My grandmother dementia progressed extremely fast after she lost her sight. The scariest thing, she refused to believe she went blind, she basically was hallucinating 95% of time, seeing things that were not there. Miserable and terrifying fate
Seeing "darkness" is just a result of your eyes not receiving photons and your brain interprets that as the darkness you "see". To you brain losing your eyeballs vs your eyeballs not receiving photons is the same thing. However eventually you would probably "see" your hearing. What you see is just a mental image your brain creates from your dominant senses, your eyes. There is no reason your brain couldn't adapt to create a different kind of mental image with your ears.
I think the darkness he meant was that everything else other than your body would be "nothing" or pitch black but you can only see your body, but I think I'm stupid.
You can visualize this by closing one eye, think about what you see out of that eye. That’s nothing, closing 2 eyes you see darkness. Having one eye closed and the other open is probably the best way to visualize nothing
I had a cat named George who my parents found as a kitten and he had an eye infection. So he was taken to the vet and they had to remove his eyeballs entirely. I always wondered what he saw and now I know. He was very smart though and knew his way around the house perfectly! He could hear even the smaller sounds. I miss you buddy! Rest in peace.❤
A friend of my cousin actually lost his eyes, but he still has some of the nerves. Things hitting his head, and REALLY loud noises, make him see a random flash of color for a second.. It's kinda freaky for him cause he once got a piece of dust (I think it was dust) stuck behind his glass eye, pressing against the nerves, and started seeing random colors for an HOUR before we could think of what the hell was happening.
U realize nth is pitch black right the void of space is a pitchblack because it has nth in it black isnt a colour or smth u see black is the absence of light
Or how it would feel to be dead. For example like what do you see, feel, what happens next, is there anything to do, or were your beliefs right about hell and heaven? Let that sink in, it actually has given me panic attacks pretty frequently.
I like to imagine that the lack of visions leads to your mental images being a stronger presence in your life. Or memories of what it was like to see constantly playing in your head for familiarity. It would be less of “seeing black like when you close your eyes” and more like “the visual dreams you’d imagine when your asleep”
Dreams are the combination of imagination of what we saw using our eyes. 1) people that are blind because of accident ect, they can still dream seeing other things because their brains previously saw the things that they saw. 2) people that are born blind, they dream of sounds and touch only, because the brain never saw anything so the brain cannot create imagination without visual. Hope this clears up. Btw apologies for my english. Im retar-
That’s most likely because although the sensory organ has been destroyed meaning there is no input of visuals the occipital lobe is still functional and so a person can sometimes still ‘see’ things even without sensory input. Without sensory input the brain will start to adapt; growing regions of the brain responsible for the other senses. So while a person may not still be able to perceive external stimulus the occipital lobe is still functional and through the use of the imagination they can still activate that region of the brain. If a person were born blind then I doubt the occipital lobe would be developed enough to have such visuals. Otherwise there’s no reason that someone who lost their eyesight can’t use their imagination to visualize. We all do it when we use our imagination.
It’s actually impossible to comprehend what literal nothing looks like. It’s impossible to imagine what it would be like to lose your eyes without actually losing them.
close your left eye but keep your right eye open. You don't see black out of your left eye, you see nothing because left eye gets ignored by your brain to show input only from right eye. That's what nothing looks like, it looks like nothing, as if you had no left eye in the first place.
Close one eye, and the one that is closed will see nothing Edit: idk what yall r talking about saying it looks pitch-black cus for me when I close one eye. I see nothing, but when I close both eyes, I see black, and from what I've heard, it's that people's brains will process one closed eye differently, so that's most likely the reason
A friend who lost an eye completely told me that when he shuts his eye(the one still factory sealed) he won’t see but he’ll remember where he was and still know everything around him just by memory
I knew an older man who had to get his eyeballs removed as a kid due to a diseases. That’s how he described it. He said he couldn’t even see blackness, but he could still dream. He said he remembered images from when he was a kid. I imagine anything was distorted, but I could be wrong. He taught me not to take anything for granted bc you never know.
Vision is so deeply integrated with our thought process that’s it’s almost impossible to imagine seeing nothing. But hearing nothing and smelling nothing aren’t on the same level.
Someone on reddit explained it pretty well: "Depends. If you were born without eyes, you'd see nothing. And by nothing, I mean that your brain just wouldn't register anything as "seen" - you wouldn't "see" black, there would just be no signal in your brain. If your eyeballs are removed at some future point, however, then I'm not sure. You might see black, or you might see all kinds of things as your optic nerves respond to every impulse as though it was vision."
Yeah, I tend to think if your eyes just popped out of your head at some point, after having seen the world, your brain would register everything as black/total darkness.
I saw some blind guy on tiktok that said the same thing on this video and he wasn't born blind tho, he said that "see dark" and "see nothing" are totally different things, he knows what darkness is like and it's not quite the same he "sees"
This is confusing for a person who is able to see... How on earth are you able to just see "nothing" and that thing that we call "nothing" is not black. I know that "black" is when light is not able to be perceived by the eyes but existence of what we call colors, including black (which is not considered a color) and white exist because our eyes receive the colors wave length. I'm able to understand and comprehend that we are unable to perceive "black" nor white without our eyes but... What on earth is "nothing".
@@BuffedAcheron "I remember the last book I recommended: Look Homeward, Angel by Thomas Wolfe. And yes, I even remember you. Time travel - practical application."
“If your eye balls popped out of your head, you’d be blind.” Holy shit bro just blew my mind, I was about to try this until I looked up a tutorial and found this video. Now I know not to pop my eyes out of my head.
Optometrist here. This is a pretty lackluster way to explain it. Oftentimes people who have no vision, especially if they have memories of it, are able to visualize without direct light input. For example, There's a Turkish finger painter who was born without eyes who understands the concept of perspective. Also a lot of people who have complete blindness and no light perception. Often complain of constant brain activity similar to the sensations that we get when we push our eyes a little bit with our eyes closed. Oftentimes the thing that those individuals miss the most is complete. Darkness.
I think you misunderstood the point. It's not that blind people can't comprehend or map the world around them without vision, is that people WITH vision can't imagine how a blind person sees because... they can see. So the easiest way people think about it is "oh so it's just like if I closed my eyes right? I don't see anything" but no, you ARE receiving input to your brain, it's just really really dark. Idk if this video was related but there's a spanish TikTok page run by a blind guy with lots of blind relatives who made the same "seeing from the elbow" comparison called "ciegologia", it's hard to grasp but once you do it, it makes so much sense. Also note that there are lots of types of blindness and lots of experiences so it's not a hard rule.
Fun fact: some blind people can basically echolocate. Basically, the part of the brain responsible for processing visual data is active for them when theyre echolocating.
one of the saddest things about going blind is that, due to a lack of visual input, over time your dreams will become less vivid and visual as well. Faces disappear, shapes blur, and colours melt together into nothing. Eventually, you will no longer dream in images.
Yall, they literally explain it in the video. There isn’t a lack of light, there’s just nothing. Zero sensory. You can’t see darkness if you can’t see at all.
i feel like i can imagine that. like when i have a huge thought that i put all my focus on and then forget to process the actual world. this doesnt make sense to anyone else probably lol but i imagien itd be like that. just you and your thoughts. at least when theres nothing to listen to. seems peaceful

Seeing nothing is so scary
I mean, what does nothing even look like?
Darkness.
Thankyou this video caused me nothing but confusion
Makes u realize we kinda take our eyesight for granted
@@kane-if8qhit was literally given to us am I supposed to say thank you👻👾
@@depressing_reap969 at least be grateful that ur not blind
The blinking of the no-eye guy is actually terrifying
How?
Cuz theres no reason to blink eith no eyes@Beartheidiot56
@@Wyrmerpeople with no eyes still blink because of the reflex
he looks really stupid imo lol
“If your eyeballs fully popped out of your head, you would completely lose your vision” yeah well no shit
“If your eyeballs popped out of your head”
Who the fuck starts a conversation like that? I JUST sat down!
The way his character blinks although he’ve lost his eyes scares the shit outta me ☠️

Underrated comment
Fun fact: some blind people can basically echolocate. Basically, the part of the brain responsible for processing visual data is active for them when theyre echolocating.
You mean some BATS
I read it as electric chocolate lol

What is eleocococococloodl cocomelon?
Man that’s 4th dimensional, I couldn’t even fathom not seeing anything, not even darkness
“if your eyes fully popped out of your head you would completely lose your vision”
YOU DIDNT HAVE TO CUT ME OFF!
one of the saddest things about going blind is that, due to a lack of visual input, over time your dreams will become less vivid and visual as well. Faces disappear, shapes blur, and colours melt together into nothing. Eventually, you will no longer dream in images.
Wait this actually sucks 😞😔
Damn
Is that what is happening to you?
@@carlitosjuarez221bro how would a blind person type other than like speech recognition or whatever idk

"If your eyes fully popped out of your head, you would completely lose your vision" REALLY!! 💀😭
I remember getting called stupid in middle school for proposing this idea 💀
Because it’s a stupid idea. Darkness is the absence of light therefore you would see darkness
@@matthewcovert5055 bro couldn’t watch the 60 second video
BRO IM STILL CONFUSED LIKE ISNT NOTHING JUST DARKNESS 💀💀
@@justentertaining750 i think there is genuinely no input so ur like an ant, and technically, you do only see darkness
