  • This is a quick video where we compare the standard walking lunge to the more complex version called the LOW WALKING LUNGE. This variation of the lunge absolutely destroys your quads in a very short time for the simple reason that it applies extreme amount of time under tension on the muscles while they are trying to decelerate!
This is not an exercise to do if your technique with the lunge is not perfect as it is hard for even the most experienced gym enthusiast and it will very quickly leave your legs shaking and wobbly.
Make sure you read the detailed article about lunges in the article below if you want to review your technique or check out the many other versions of the lunge

The lunge is also a great way to build great strength into the glutes and even the hamstrings as they are all working extremely hard to maintain good posture during the movement. If the quads are the brakes then the glutes and hamstrings are the engine room and this is an awesome exercise to develop explosiveness in sports. You can read more about the glutes and hamstrings in the links below.

One thing that prevents many people from completing lunges perfectly is hip mobility. There are many factors to consider and many ways to improve this and I suggest tor read the articles below for more detail and ideas of how to go about this.

There is no doubting the low walking lunge is a great exercise and I hope this video gives you a better understanding of how to apply it in your training for best results.

This is definitely not an exercise if you hate legs day! In a matter of minutes your legs will blow up after doing a few sets of these and can leave you sore for days!

Thank you ,I will try the low walking lungs . On leg day I will either do them in between sets as a superset bodyweight or at the end of a leg workout. I really enjoy how you break everything down part by part and explaining the functions of it so thank you for that.

I thought this video was gonna be about how it’s negative and a dangerous exercise. “Destructive to the quads” is a bit of an ambiguous title IMO

Yes I can see how you might read it that way. I will change it to a more positive name.

You get a full range of motion on a standard lunge which would work more muscles than doing an isometric variation which will blow out your knees
