Lots of tape before dipping!
you could probably repaint the soles after the dip if tape doesnt work
Put Vaseline on the soles the dye won’t get past it and leave the rubber white still!
The dish soap is a surfactant and allows the dye to stick to the shoe. Without it the dye won’t be able to stick

Ombre isn't 2 tone. Ombre is a 1 tone (dark/light) transition. 'Gradient' is a 2 tone (color/color) transition
