- This is a part of a major project we are working on to recreate all of ANIMUSIC's original seven animations from the first ANIMUSIC DVD.
Pipe Dream: • "Pipe Dream" - ANIMUSI...
Acoustic Curves: • "Acoustic Curves" - AN...
Originally by Wayne Lytle and David Crognale.
Credits:
Zach Goertzen - Modeling, Shading, Lighting, Cameras, Rigging, Secondary Animation, MIDI Sequencing, etc.
March Cain - Primary Animation, Scripting, MIDAS Development, etc.
The animation in this video was achieved by transcribing each note from the original audio track to MIDI, and then we used our proprietary music animation plugin called MIDAS (Musical Instrument Digital Animation System) to automatically animate the instruments. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
It didnt hit me how true to the original this was until the drum machine wound down at the end. Amazing work
It even included the gears winding around before changing tempo at the 2 minute mark.
As a child who essentially had Animusic laser-etched in his mind, this is wonderful. Can't wait to see the rest of the original 7 animations rebuilt. Maybe sometime in the future, you can even animate Seventh Alloy, A Slight Delay, and The Harvester from the Animusic 1 soundtrack. That's no doubt going to be extra work, but from what I see here, I'm sure you guys can pull that off one day.
This perfectly nails the late 90’s modeling of Animusic 1 in an HD Format, words can’t describe how amazing this is.
It doesn't just nail the models, it recreates a bunch of imperfections like the metal parts not reflecting each other (or looking quite metallic). Impressive, given it goes against the grain of modern tools, and I'd love a post on how they managed that.
@@Kythyria Hobbyist 3D artist here - I think they just baked an environment map and used that! (though take this all with a grain of salt, please, not 100% sure)
Before we had the ability to have real-time light rendering, lighting information would have to be pre-calculated, or baked, onto an image (think a panorama sort of thing). Then the normals of a model, information that says which way is 'out' and which way is 'in', were used to sample colors from that map that were then added to the material. This would create a glow of sorts that wouldn't accurately respond to any moving objects, but would be fairly accurate to the ambient, static lighting like the sun.
If you baked the map with a scene that had just the lights and none of the moving objects, and then used that to control the lighting on the moving objects, you'd get that sort of 'this is sort of accurate, but it's not responding right' sensation that you're taking about.
Video games used this too - the Valve Developer Wiki, of Half-Life 2 fame, apparently has a whole bunch of pages on environment mapping and Phong shading, if you're curious.
Something I noticed with this recreation is pretty awesome, besides the visual resolution and lighting improvements. The original was made using the 4:3 Fullscreen scale, while Widescreen is done with 16:9. In the original Animusic DvDs, the Widescreen versions of these videos were just the Fullscreen ones with the top and bottom portions removed. But this remaster doesn't cut anything from the original 4:3 Fullscreen scale. Instead, it includes it, and adds extra visual areas on both sides of the screen to fit the 16:9 ratio while keeping everything the original 4:3 ratio had! Now THAT is how Widescreen should be done! Great job!!!
I almost can’t tell the difference. You guys seriously rock
As someone who's been obsessed with Animusic all their life, I can say that you NAILED this. Like, literally the only inaccuracy I could find was the texturing on the cymbals. Everything else was 1-1 perfect. I'm so excited for this project to be finished I can't even put it into words
watched Animusic for the first time in 1st grade, these animations made me want to be a musician.
Can't wait for the nostalgia hit!
This is a MASTERPIECE!! Drum Machine was never so good, incredible work and amazing engine 😍
Thank you so much for this! Future Retro still plays in my head
The drum machine was my first animusic video that i see and now this channel is making tribut to it
Absolutely fantastic I cannot wait to see more of these!
Man, this is seriously Animusic on steroids, the HD is more like super 4k!
If I've learned anything about being a musician online, it's that if you look down enough rabbit holes, you'll find an asset-ripping/recreation community for pretty much anything that involves music. Animusic is clearly no exception and I couldn't be more happy about it.
This is so fucking dope man. The child in me is so proud.
Very well done, absolutely incredible work!
Absolutely beautiful. Can’t wait for the other six!
Needs more cowbell! In all seriousness, amazing stuff, I remember the old Mind's Eye animations and how blown away I was back then, this really brings back that feel.
Now this is what you call A GOOD REMAKE FROM MY CHILDHOOD!!
Excuse my language, but HOLY SHIT!!! You guys really outdid yourselves here! You fully and accurately recreated Drum Machine from the ground up, and I’m sure that Wayne Lytle would love to see this!
P.S. can’t wait to see what Pipe Dream looks like in HD!
Just for info, Pipe Dream already exists in HD, is the only one of the first Animusic that was recreated in HD by Animusic team :)
But still, it will be awesome to see it recreated in the new engine
@@RikysonicI agreed
There's already a 1080i widescreen Pipe Dream on the Animusic HD Blu-Ray
Incredible job you two
omg this is absolutely amazing! I love it!
Can't wait to see the rest
WOW! This is INSANELY GOOD!
Drum machine was always one of my favorites, just in the animation. It's very satisfying to watch, but I don't like listening to weird drum solos for three and a half minutes.
Gonna be awesome!
My youngest son introduced me to Animusic, when he was a teenager! He is 34 years old now!
Animusic is still such an interesting concept. As I understood, there were limits to what sounds and how frequent any given sample could be played as some of the animations could actually interfere and clip. So not all compositions could actually work with the setup.
Damn,
This is clean.
Was expecting the motions to be janky but its pretty smooth.
dude i pay for a UHD release of these. very impressive look exactly like the original just updated!
Wouldn't miss it for the world
Very nice, applause to you all. Drum machine isn't my favorite tune of the animusic 1 bunch (more of a future retro guy) but the animation looks clean, seemed on point on my first run through and I could tell you all did some minor adjustments to the camera work and a few other thing so I can say this isn't a copy and paste with a hd label slapped on. I look forward to seeing the others if and when they come out
yessssssss
"See Animusic like you're never seen it before!" -Animusic HD
Very well done!
Really cool!
Future Retro should be one that gets remastered next lol.
Amazing work!!!
They're doing the whole thing
Excited!
Fantastic work, guys!! Can't wait to see more.
Epic!!!
Let's go!
Its like i took off my nostalgia glasses and nothing changed.
Amazing recreation! Couldn't tell the difference
this rules
I just love seeing those gears turn
With more texture and frames. Amazing work!
you guys made MIDAS? please actually release it, its the one thing the animusic crew never actually did.
Side note, the cowbells 8th note rest into 8th note seems like it mustve been a pain to get right. great job!
Yes, PLEASE. I'd PAY for a public release of MIDAS.
Dude!
nice
looks like its day in "drum machine style"
?
Boom!😊
I really wanna see all of Animusic redone in like, full RTX-On level graphical insanity. Bring on all those raytracing subsurface scattering bumpmapped dynamic lighting HDR effects and REALLY overdo it. Jesus, imagine Harmonic Voltage like that. Or maybe Aqua Harp, but set the entire thing in a rainstorm, with only the harp and instruments covered, occasionally getting splashed with beads of water dripping off of them...
Based as hell. Hope recreation goes smoothly.
Seriously, please make more of this
That first half is in 4/4 or 8/8, the second half is 5/4 or 10/8.
holy sheet
1️⃣ down
6️⃣ more to go
Or maybe 1️⃣4️⃣
They're not doing Animusic 2 because it's already in HD
But I was thinking of them doing a REMAKE of it
@@gavincurtis967 that's what I just said they're not going to do
I thought they were making remakes of both of them
@@gavincurtis967 Nah just Animusic 1, because Animusic 2 is already in HD and can be easily AI upscaled to 4K 60 FPS with minimal artifacts
I’m sorry but did you get the sounds from the original one because it sounds like the original😊
We only recreated the visuals, not the audio. The audio comes from the DVD.
So cool! Do you ever plan on opening a patreon?
This is a Danny Carey style setup XD
The bass drum doesnt look green enough
