The edge magnet is repelling with the core magnets so when it gets to 45 degrees it will force the cube to turn.

Yup. Just popped open mine (sorry, early adopter), and used a little student bar magnet on a plastic Gimbal for studying magnetic field (sorry, Mr. Science here), And, confirmed; the magnets on the feet of the edge pieces are the polar opposite of the corner _foot_ magnets.
That is, to put is as simply as possible:
1) corner foot magnets with attractive polarity: yes, please stay here with the cube aligned.
2) edge foot (boat?) magnets that are repulsive (heh): no, keep moving along, nothing to see here at 45 degrees.
@@JPerm do you recommend UV Coated or Frosted bc I'm getting a Gan 13 for Christmas and i don't know which one to get.
@@JPerm to rotate a center piece by 90 degrees you can just use m2 u’ m2 u’ m2 until you get h perm and then just use normal h perm

Fun fact: doing 2 j perms moves the face of the layer being permutated turns 180°. If you do the U perms it turns 90° (if it is the UA perm it will rotate counter clockwise, if you do the UB perm it will rotate clockwise).
Well it depends on the alg you use for U perms, JPERM uses M moves
Yes, I've been waiting for this video since the Gan 13 came out!
The corner magnets were weakened but not by too much, just enough, they still attract those core magnets, but the edge magnets, when they hit a core magnet, it repells and pushes you toward the next turn. Two opposite forces working together.
so what happens if i blend a gan 12 magnet with gan 13 edges and gan 11 corners?

I recommend you practice more. I got 15-20 secs in a few months with roux and the same cube
Yea, practice more. I got sub 20 with less than a year
It's funny that most people say more than 3 setting ptions are kind of excessive. I actually appreciate the fine tuning and its a necessity to a comfortable feel for me.

I think it's mostly a good thing, but I think for some people it can be really distracting to keep fiddling with the settings, lots of which may not even be good.
@@JPerm that is very true, while I love fiddling around with different settings it can become quite time consuming and tedious lol.

@@SP00NGEB0B nope there are lucy scrambles which can decide your fate. I once had sub 35 average but i got a 19.45 second pb because of last layer skip and now im almost like sub 25 average but I haven't beaten that pb cause I haven't gotten any lucky scrambles.

The corner magnets attract to the core magnets and the edge magnets detract, thats why it basically turns itself because its both a push and pull force at the same time

3:47 the edge magnet is repelling the core magnet and then it goes up then it's basically just turning on air cause it's repelling what gives smother and faster cube and that made that crazy catch when edge almost fall out

I guess the main purpose of the magnets in the edges is it repels or pushes out with the core magnets, so that when you are half way of your turn, it helps the "turned side" finishes its turn. I might be wrong .

3:55 I think the edge magnet is supposed to smooth out the feel you get from Gan 12 that you need to push harder to start the turn and push lighter when finishing the turn. I.e., instead of a big resistance at the beginning and a big suction at the end, it's now introducing a middle suction followed by a middle resistance, to smooth out the beginning and the end.

Just got my Gan 13… Turns amazing!- I love the feel and have the settings quite loose because I like the cube fast.
I'm loving mine. It could be just me convincing myself that it must be good because I spent so much money on it, but after a bit of fiddling with settings, it's spoiled me for other cubes. I love my 2021 WRM, but it feels kinda clumsy now.

I picked up the Christmas cube since it was cheap. It started to gaslight me when I was doing OLL because it wasn’t working even after I double checked that I did my algs correctly. Then I looked and noticed that I had slotted the Reindeer-Bear edge in the Santa-Bear slot because the greens were so similar. 10/10 cube.

Just so you know the edge magnet actually repels the core magnet. Btw: You can do two J Perms to flip centers 180 degrees (Just more J Perm style)

What happens with the gan 13 edge pieces is that the edge repels with the corner to core magnet which probably makes the turns more accurate
