This ad is so good. That’s why no matter what kind of time we live in, using a bucket and mug will always be the best option to save water.
Logically yes. The water in the bucket can be used for another session of bath & people shouldn't drain them. On the other hand, people need to be cautious by not leaving the shower on while applying shampoo, soap on body, scrubbing etc. Otherwise there'll be more wastage of water than usual
But shower requires less amount of water if you gonna be cautious

@@losaal_lom-uu6mw nope!! It's 14L! Try collecting that water in 5/10L container, you will get to know the truth
I agree. But in smaller towns, people do not run water purifiers all the time. Rather they run when needed and collect the reverse flow in buckets for other use such as washing or watering plants. We are thankfully quite resourceful.

Necessity Vs. Luxury
I hope someday people will start valuing their resources, both renewable and non-renewable ones.
Why?
Countries which have build up their cities to be what those are should do what?
Return to stone ages just because?
Become as polluted and dirty as India is?
Just look at the streets, rubbish everywhere mixed with urine, domestic animals. Why not start to clean up the obvious to start with?
Yes it's important to not think "oh it's renewable anyway I don't need to think about how much I use"
@@hananas2 It is renewable. Also, sea water can be desalinized and made drinkable. Ganges river can be used for fresh water as well..., oh wait, it is so polluted that it can't be done.

Maybe also while at it, abolish their idiotic cast system.

In 2021, Unilever consumed 30 million cubic meters (million m3) of water, an increase of 2% over 2020. For every tonne of production in Unilever's manufacturing facilities, 1.57 m3 of water was abstracted in the same year. Somehow I feel like someone taking a shower isn't tbe biggest problem here.

What an ad

Basic question:
How does HUL transport the water saved in cities to villages?
Charging water tankers?
I don't understand how water saved by taking a shorter shower is going to "quench the thirst of the villagers". Are they going to transport that water to the suffering villages? This is the exact logical question that comes to the mind. These ad makers are just making you guilty for using the basic facility of having a proper and enjoyable modest shower by contrasting it with the water shortage problems faced by a remote dry village. Why should city people be guilty for their ordeal unless we don't take extravagant and unnecessarily long showers? These hypocrite ad makers and the company owners will definitely not start to have shorter showers after making this ad. There is enough water to drink for everyone, there isn't a problem of water shortage but of water mismanagement.
@@Himanshu_Khicharsahi kaha tune
@@Himanshu_Khichar Totally agree, often the shower water is not potable. So, how can it be a substitute of drinking water? These ads play with emotion but once you peel the layers, they simply don't make sense.
@@Himanshu_Khichar If u reduce using shower to take bath or reduce overall water consumption it leads to decreased burden on ground water. Which inturn leads to availabilty of ground water for more people in the city. Which results in decreased use of water from reservoirs or by transport which leads to utilization of reservoir water or transported water for draught zones.
@@vamsikrishnakoviYou would still need to transport that water to these remote villages. That would still have to be done through tractor tanks. Unless you create pipelines from the dams or whatever municipal water source, you can't solve the water crisis in these villages. The problem isn't about lack of water but it's management. You can continue to feel guilty about taking a modest shower and stop taking shower and think that this will somehow help the villagers but it won't.
You know I have a better idea. You know how much water is wasted by flushing the solid wastes in the toilet? How about city dwellers defecate in the open to preserve water that's wasted in flushing? That would save enormous amount of water for water thirsty villages.

Very much moving truth😢😢👌👍👏🙏
I live in the US and I still fill a bucket to take a bath. I once took a course in IITB that opened my eyes to the wastage of showers.
That's very gud ...because shower wastes alot of water
Yah many researches showed that shower wastes a lot more water than regular budget bath, the content of bathing in shower results in more water than content of bathing in a bucket. Also since in childhood we are used to bath with limited water and hence the bucket of water creates a sense of belief that the water is limited hence try to manage your bathing in that .
OMG this is profound, thank you so much.

This is India's future.... They will struggle to get even water ..... With the current rate of population
Don't worry even with showrheads in our bathrooms we still use buckets n mugs to bathe unlike the West who drown their sorrows in tubs of water everyday
The fertility rate is barely at replacement level and India is doing very well economically. Next generation of Indians are guaranteed a better life than their parents. Can't say the same for us or any other western country.
And, water crisis is not just an indian issue but a global one. This ad talks about indian villages because it's an Indian ad.
The earth is 70% water. Technology to filter salt water using reverse osmosis is also ages old. I remember learning it in school. All of these problems are important but they can be solved. The avg time taken in shower also uses a bucket to bucket and half of water, we need to be conservative yes but lets not blame people, this isnt their job. The government needs to be handking this better, make rain water harvesting infra, more lakes and dams in barren areas and so many solutions are possible if the government thinks and hires private experts to build it. Also mandate industries to treat and recycle their water waste they are the major water waste causing entities. This video is nothing but a whitewash attempt by Unilever like all major entities like nestle nd other fmcg majors to shift blame to the people, while they use mega litres of water in highly sub optimum washing nd cleaning processes in their factories
I also read that reverse osmosis is very costly and generally water desalination methods are very costly. Most of your points are valid though. All these messages while we're running out of clean fresh water due to climate change, deforestation and pollution, and who's doing all that? Such a bummer
@@souldancersbyjenniferAustralia has entered the chat
@@sweethomechicago please elaborate
Reverse osmosis like expensive a lot more expensive than you think the brine that come put of it is highly toxic to the waters and soil too. We need better tech for that. But India do not need reverse osmosis they have mansoon rains so if the soil can hold water you will have any water you need. And tgey know this too so every year in rural areas they hold a competition of building water holding structure called "Johads" between villages. The results are visible from satelites. Some enviromentalist groups also incorporate permaculture with it so families also can feed off of it. It is cheap good to the enviroment and soil lastly does not need high tech. We should stop relying on advanced tech so much and incorporate new tech with known technics since costs ,material usage and electricity usage is important especially for third and sexond world countries
I met the couple who invented reverse osmosis. (Their house was *very* nice. :-) It's not "ages" old. But it's certainly old enough that if you have polluted water around, you can make it drinkable for fairly cheap. But if you live in the middle of a dust-bowl desert, filtering the water isn't going to be especially helpful.
